I went for a 3.5 hour walk with a friend today. Took eldest DD with me, and friend brought hers. They have been at preschool together since they were two, now in Y7. We fucked off the social distancing thing as we were outside in fields, and the girls had a whale of a time. Did them so much good to see each other and the adults as well.

Apparently, on another thread, you must be a paid poster if you want lockdown to end. 🤦‍♀️
I’ve lost 20% of my wages and I am shitting it about getting made redundant so I’d be very much appreciate the cash.

BakewellTarts · 24/05/2020 19:26

I am loving the UK Service Tweet. Since deleted but here's an article reporting on it:

Imagine being so up your own arse that the idea of anyone gasp disagreeing with you MUST be being paid?! How do these people function in the real world?!

Bollss · 24/05/2020 19:39

I mean if anyone knows how I could get paid to post things I agree with anyway id really like to know Grin

Shodan · 24/05/2020 19:42

I saw those comments and was v tempted to say something along the lines of "Bog off newbie, I've been here since it was all green fields" but I was very good and didn't.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 24/05/2020 19:44

I mean, imagine if we were paid to post? if we were paid for disagreeing with dementors, I'd be rich by now!

Littlebelina · 24/05/2020 19:49

Ditto Trust, the extra cash would be great

Drivingdownthe101 · 24/05/2020 19:52

I really fancy booking a holiday so if anyone wants me to send them my bank details for payment I’m more than happy!

Orangeblossom78 · 24/05/2020 19:53

Yeah the civil service got slagged off by Cummings I remember when he wanted wierdos. Wonder if gap might have a good sale as we need some summer clothes.

Willow2017 · 24/05/2020 20:01

So, on the schools thing. Current information from dd's primary is that they'll take reception from the 2nd, year 1 from the 15th, and year 6 from the 22nd. Can the government make them do it faster? It seems mad to me to have a two week gap between getting the reception kids back in and the year ones. And the poor year 6s have to wait another 3 weeks after the date by which, according to the gov, they should be able to go back to school?

How much are the schools allowed to set their own timetable?

Drivingdownthe101 · 24/05/2020 20:07

Ours is similar SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito but the other way round... year 6 first, then year 1 and reception last.

Just wanted to check in and say hi to all you awesome sensible rational people.

These threads have really kept me going through this whole ridiculous shitshow.

I have disagreed with lockdown from day one and have unashamedly broken many of the rules. I choose to follow the common sense approach and look at the statistics in a rational way and make my own risk assessment.

I have regularly visited my parents who are local (and also massive dissenters if all of this)

Me and kids even had an impromptu sleepover after much wine and venting and guess what? We are still here all alive and well, nobody died! ( this was 3 weeks ago so definitely all safe)

I object massively to our freedom being taken away, this will have such a negative impact on my kids future and I for one am absolutely livid! We are sacrificing the majority for the very very few.

I couldn't care less what my neighbours or any other dementors think, I have no more fucks left to give.

Orangeblossom78 · 24/05/2020 20:22

The poster who said about the BBC coverage getting more positive is right seems far less doom and gloom on the virus but more on economic impacts etc

Greendayz · 24/05/2020 20:26

Last week I thought things were really changing when I went a walk and saw the youth of my town engaged in mass disobedience of outdoor gatherings - beer, music, swimming in the river, and not a policeman in sight (despite this being a well known party spot).

But today I went a walk in my local park and got shouted at by a man sitting on the grass right next to the path that I was not 2m away from him. FFS there was a whole big grassy area he could have say on, 5+m from anyone, and he chooses to sit right next to the path, and expects people to divert off the path to be 2m away from him!!

RunningNinja79 · 24/05/2020 20:35

Wonder if its a change of tactic to get the population used to the idea of going back out. In preparation for end of lockdown. Certainly hope so.

youngerself · 24/05/2020 20:36

To a pp - I think work men are fine
I've had an electrician, a gas plumber, 2 renderers, an exterior decorator and 2 tree surgeons since this started
And if they had given me a ball park figure, I would've had gate installers in too

littlbrowndog · 24/05/2020 20:37

I had a workie in to sort shower. He gave no fucks and sorted shower

He wasn’t upset that I was on a killing spree

duckme · 24/05/2020 20:43

We've got an insurance insurance claim going through for our carpet at the minute, the carpet place we're getting the replacement from are opening and will be in to lay the new carpet the second the insurance company pay out.

PickAChew · 24/05/2020 20:46

That's as bonkers as our neighbours who put their washing line right next to the north side of their house so it's shaded by their house 95% of the time, then had the cheek to grumble about our tree blocking the light.

Drivingdownthe101 · 24/05/2020 20:49

We had someone round to fix our shower yesterday, and also have had a gardener in a few times.
Getting someone in to quote for bricking up a door next week.

Littlebelina · 24/05/2020 20:53

Our power company contacted me to say they could fit me a smart meter. I really don't want one and do think it's completely unnecessary (even being the murdering wrench I am) so said no for the thousandth time

We also had a engineer in to look at our fridge/freezer. Just kicked the kids into the garden and kept 2 m away

Toomanycats99 · 24/05/2020 21:07

Good to hear from everyone having workmen round. I am comfortable with the risk and so obviously is he but wasn't sure if I could get away with it!

Drivingdownthe101 · 24/05/2020 21:15

The dementors get worse Grin. This was posted on a local Facebook page...
