Wanted to make the new thread quickly to get the link onto the last page of the previous one!

it is just possible, he's got a fairly new baby in the house and his girlfriend told him it was his turn to pace up and down the landing for hours last night.

Theoretically possible but massively fucking unlikely. This is a man who has walked away from how many of his kids? Can't see him doing the night shift.

BlackberryViolet · 24/05/2020 18:21

Yep i have been on that thread its mental. People not saying hello to neighbours and looking at the ground when they pass to show them how "disappointed' they are in them🤣

Well our neighbours are showing their disappointment in us. I don’t give a flying fuck, and will get the last laugh as I usually work from home so am available for any and all parcels. But no more, once this gets back to normal (and I have to believe it will) no more acting as the streets parcel depotGrin

I wish to god someone would think about the colleges. Dd1 was finally settled at college and thinking about uni after a a bumpy few years. Now we have no idea what’s going on

flameprincess · 24/05/2020 18:22

Fuck it I'm joining in the rebellion. My mental health took a total nosedive last week I was crying at the drop of a hat, my DS had hit a wall and hadn't seen him smile in over a week. Xbox party chat with friends just wasn't cutting it for him anymore. He asked if he could go out on his bike with a friend and they would keep apart (they are 11 so not cuddly). I said YES go, do it.

Mother of DS friend then promptly text me later on saying come for a coffee. I bloody jumped at the chance, I would have recoiled in horror this time one month ago.

We have both been working from home and seen nobody else so took the risk. Was fucking GREAT.

Weedsnseeds1 · 24/05/2020 18:33

I've had a busy day. A trip to the tip, which was inexplicably quiet, so I went home reloaded the car and did another run
Then I went to the supermarket for a non-essential purchase and had a wander round the local garden centre. Also not very busy, I bought the most beautiful foxglove I have ever seen, a sort of dark raspberry pink.
I was toying with a picnic this evening, but have opted for drinking ginand watching Kung Foo Panda instead.
That Devon Live article Orangeblossom Hmm

Weedsnseeds1 · 24/05/2020 18:37

And there are a group of people down the road having a street party Grin

Pertella · 24/05/2020 18:37

I've arranged for DS to meet up with one of his classmates for a bike ride round the local park on Tuesday. He is so excited!

TheGreatWave · 24/05/2020 18:38

weeds I have some lovely fox gloves popping up in the garden. We moved in two years ago in the middle of June (and that ridiculous heatwave) some came up last year, but now some more have come up elsewhere. I love them, remind me of my childhood.

Comingoutontop123 · 24/05/2020 18:38

I LOVE the neighbours not making eye contact or smiling so the recipient MUST KNOW they are being disproved of.

It's so v.British. 'No I didn't say anything but they KNOW'.

Orangeblossom78 · 24/05/2020 18:38

We had a newsletter from the secondary this week with a section encouraging them to meet a friend for a walk for their mental health

ThatLibraryMiss · 24/05/2020 18:45

Yeah, fair enough, SirSamuel, I did wonder that when I posted but I was giving him the benefit of the doubt. But now I remember who I was writing about and that does seem rather silly.

I love foxgloves but dd likes to eat flowers in the garden if we turn our back for a millisecond so they are a no no at the moment

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 24/05/2020 18:50

Especially considering Boris thinks it totally reasonable that Cummings broke lockdown rules when faced with the horrifying possiblity of looking after his own child. Odious little bastards, the both of them.

Toomanycats99 · 24/05/2020 18:52

So question for the sensible people on this thread. I had a quote for some work just before lockdown and considering getting it done - what is meant to be the guidelines around workmen in the house - it does seem to be starting up again.....

Weedsnseeds1 · 24/05/2020 18:52

TheGreatWave look at this beauty!

Pleased to see that schools are going to reopen on 1st June although DS's school have said 8th for him in year 10 and tonight Boris said 15th. At least its only a week after we expected. Will see what the school says next.

So am I right in thinking that Boris has said we are moving on to phase 2 which includes schools going back. So does that mean there will be other easing of restrictions like non essential shops opening too? Are things going to move a bit more next week?

DianneWhatcock · 24/05/2020 18:57

Hi all !

countrygirl99 · 24/05/2020 18:59

I have a really horrible neighbour, I don't know if mumsnet was around in 2008 but our story would definitely have made classics and half the posters would have thought I was making it up. Every New Year we drink a toast to Gordon Brown for going against convention and not giving him a knighthood. Next door is their weekend home, they arrived here the first Tuesday of lockdown and they have regularly disappeared for a day, presumably to check the London house, AND they have had visitors. But I still haven't reported them.
I visited my parents for the first time since mid March. The plan was to sit in the garden but it was windy and cloudy so we not only sat inside but (whisper it quietly) hugged. Actually I didn't have any choice, dad grabbed me as I walked in and gave me such a squeeze. He is 93, very frail and was scared he would die without seeing me again. I am not putting him through that again.

RunningNinja79 · 24/05/2020 19:00

@Toomanycats99

We're having a plumber around on Tuesday. We live in a council house and weren't quite sure, but thought we'd report it (its nothing urgent, just annoying) and see what happens. So the councils are sending people out. Surely the workmen are required to go back to work?

Orangeblossom78 · 24/05/2020 19:02

There is a plan somewhere isn't there - I will have a look thought it was June for shops

here we go

Potentially from 1 June,
some schools and businesses, including non-essential shops, will reopen. Some sporting and cultural events will be allowed to take place behind closed doors

RunningNinja79 · 24/05/2020 19:06

Thanks Orange its just with all the talk of schools and nothing else. Hopefully things will start looking a little better in a couple of weeks.

glotterbug · 24/05/2020 19:09

Glad Boris has stood by June 1st as a date to return for schools, fingers crossed wales will soon follow (this may be blind hope but I need something!)

Toomanycats99 · 24/05/2020 19:10

@RunningNinja79

That sounds positive I think I may go ahead. He is willing to work and I'm comfortable with risk levels.

TheGreatWave · 24/05/2020 19:12

weeds that is truly a thing of beauty.

MagdaS · 24/05/2020 19:20

I know our nearest major shopping centre is planning for reopening on June 1st. Work is well underway on installing signage, floor markings and queuing systems.
