Wanted to make the new thread quickly to get the link onto the last page of the previous one!

There's another thread now where people are being told they can't use more than one childcare setting ie school then childminder.

If this is the same come September this is going to be devastating for so many people. They can't expect kids to go to school part time and other childcare not to be allowed!

I am so fucking angry.

AgentCooper · 24/05/2020 16:22

Just saw about 6 lads playing football together on the pitches near me. I never thought the sound of a ball bashing off bars and lads shouting would cheer me up but it did! I wanted to smile and wave at them but they might have thought that weird woman with the buggy’s going to grass is up...

Hi 👋

Long term lurker, is it ok if I join you? Just fed up of everything, ready to have a meltdown. It’s not been helped by having to isolate by having symptoms - suspect it is a chest infection but need antibiotics! Always gone with the attitude if we get it, we get it, pointless to be scared and risking mental health!

This is not fair though. We live in a one bedroom flat with my husband (who is vulnerable but equally fed up - he was shielding but sees it as pointless so he is literally murdering people by getting his tobacco!) no garden and no car. We are envious of those that can get in a car and drive to the beach!

Orangeblossom78 · 24/05/2020 16:27

The private schools will find it easier as they have smaller class sizes anyway as well

Orangeblossom78 · 24/05/2020 16:27

hi Sherlock welcome

Orangeblossom78 · 24/05/2020 16:29

Sherlock we live in a flat also and my DH meant to be vulnerable too but we are not following it either. feeling guilty that we keep getting these food boxes delivered but we are going out etc

Hopefully you can find an outdoor space nearby like a park, it helps a lot.

Sherlockfactory · 24/05/2020 16:31

@orangeblossom78 - Thank you!

Nihiloxica · 24/05/2020 16:31

God the optics (and reality) of prep schools opening while stare schools remain shut due to the teaching unions is just HmmShock

highmarkingsnowbile · 24/05/2020 16:32

I'm utterly fucked off with how secondary school and college pupils have had their education scuppered for this and not a thought given to them.

Institutkarite · 24/05/2020 16:32

@OnItCarBonnet
Hello and welcome to you.

Sherlockfactory · 24/05/2020 16:35

Unfortunately no outdoor space, there’s a graveyard nearby which we go to!

Don’t feel guilty though, everyone deserves to go out, it is good to keep a healthy mind.

Orangeblossom78 · 24/05/2020 16:35

I do understand a bit more now practically how can the state primaries do this 15 children bubble thing with much more children and less space and need some way of sorting that out when the whole school starts back

It is a bit rubbish give just telling them to get on with it when it is just not practical for many of them. Some I know had 90 in one year intake in 3 classes in recent years.

Orangeblossom78 · 24/05/2020 16:36

Government, sorry

Nihiloxica · 24/05/2020 16:38

If they were arguing about how best to do it, that would be one thing.

Drivingdownthe101 · 24/05/2020 16:39

Orangeblossom78 our reception has 42 children... 2 teachers and 2 teaching assistants so only 21 per ‘group’ but they’re in one large classroom. So as they can’t be in the same room they’ve had to find 2 extra classrooms to accommodate the other 2 groups. It is a logistical nightmare so I can see why it’s been tough, but our head has managed to come up with a workable solution. She is the exact opposite of some of the ‘it can’t be done’ teachers I’ve seen on here.

onedayinthefuture · 24/05/2020 16:41

Lovely day at the park today, it was so much busier than any normal Sunday. So many families had obviously met up and it made me happy.

Although what is making me really angry right now is the fact that there are no lifeguards on beaches? Surely someone at a beach is in far more danger of drowning in the sea than of dying from the virus?

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 24/05/2020 16:45

If they were arguing about how best to do it, that would be one thing.

Exactly. It's the "it's impossible, it's not safe, we won't even talk about possibilities" that is pissing me off. The unions should be agitating for a huge cash injection to recruit extra staff and get temporary classrooms built in school grounds. As @Nihiloxica said, the optics for this are appalling. Long term this is going to do the unions and the profession into trouble.

BarkandCheese · 24/05/2020 16:46

Ah, but only virus deaths matter now you see. Preventing any other kind of death is unimportant.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 24/05/2020 16:51

This. Noone cares if you die of drowning silly! Only covid deaths matter. If you die of anything other than covid you dont deserve any sympathy at all.

Shodan · 24/05/2020 16:54

OMG.

I just read that thread about reporting someone to 101. Grin

At least one person is VERY SHOUTY. And rather repugnant in their views too.

Still, good to see that at least half of the posters are showing signs of sanity...

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 24/05/2020 16:57

That person is vile. Luckily, I agree- ive noticed these tittle tattle posts are getting less and less approval as time goes on which is great.

savehalloween · 24/05/2020 17:05

It's so strange that Bojo is backing up and bigging up someone who isn't even in the cabinet, to this degree.

Backing DC will be a hugely unpopular opinion, but it gives me some hope that he will stand firm on schools.

savehalloween · 24/05/2020 17:07

Looks good for those in England on the school front, he's going ahead with it as planned on June 1st

DominaShantotto · 24/05/2020 17:09

Has AIBU exploded yet? And the Coronadome of course

savehalloween · 24/05/2020 17:12

I saw that the chief OFSTED person said they may have to work through the school holidays and presumed that would have sent AIBU over the edge.
