@Jourdain11 hope you enjoyed your pizza and wine.... I've been having a glass too so cheers to you!

Thisdressneedspockets · 22/05/2020 22:38

I really don't think the police are going to stop an elderly lady. She could always pretend to be a bit confused if they do..
I reckon we regret the things we don't do more than the things we do. She might wish she'd seen her friend sooner if that friend is struggling..

Jourdain11 · 22/05/2020 22:38

I just had a bit of a massive crying meltdown. Poor DH - he wanted to make it all better but when I get proper upset on the outside (which is rarely) I can't talk sense to anyone. Now I'm lying on the sofa tearing up in a pathetically self-pitying way every now and again, and he is finishing the pizza.

Oh gosh, I feel kind of cold and dark inside Sad

About lefties not being fussed about education, I have also been surprised! Angela Rayner and Wrong-Daily have been super negative and I thought they would be all over the poverty / provision / equality aspect. But then I remembered they were both Union people before politics - and it makes a little more sense...

Interesting that Starmer was quite definite today, I thought.

Dowser · 22/05/2020 22:38

Hmm, so ours is quite high for our area.
I think the death rate is about 50
But heck the majority of deaths are over 75

Dowser · 22/05/2020 22:42

So that’s 1 death in 1860 of population
Where most of the deaths according to the paper are over 75
Actually over 65

LilacTree1 · 22/05/2020 22:43

“ I really don't think the police are going to stop an elderly lady”

I got into trouble the last time I made my feelings about the police clear.

But yes, I do think they’ll pick on an elderly lady - easy target.

Good to let it out jourdain
Don’t hold back
These are awful times anyway

PickAChew · 22/05/2020 22:46

@lilactree1 she can visit any time in a caring capacity. So anytime, then.

Mascotte · 22/05/2020 22:47

Oh, @Jourdain11 everything will be ok... good to have a cry (though I'm
a hideous crier) and you'll feel better than you do now 💐

PickAChew · 22/05/2020 22:51

County Durham is just under 2000 cases for just over half a million population (it's a big though not densely populated county) with just over 450 deaths.

Take out the Cummings family and I'm not panicking.

Weedsnseeds1 · 22/05/2020 22:53

Well ours is 0.000031746% in the nearest town and 0.0000000% in my village, so I guess you are more likely to die than me Dowser, but no, I wouldn't call that high.

Shodan · 22/05/2020 22:54

@Jourdain11 Flowers I'm so sorry for your shit news. If anyone deserves to have a good cry and a wallow it's you, so go with it.

highmarkingsnowbile · 22/05/2020 22:55

Yet another travel first gone bust! 2 hotels up near us closed immediately with loss of 60 jobs just there, 2,4000 in total but Nicola's gonna pay for us all to do blended learning - complete with private tutors and all the support in place for pupils with special needs in state schools.

TheGreatWave · 22/05/2020 22:57

On my sm the more left the more dementor. It's all a billionaires conspiracy to get workers back apparently

That would kind of fit with my experience too. Yes they probably are shouting the loudest (Tim Martin springs to mind) but it also doesn't mean that we shouldn't start to open anything.

Weedsnseeds1 · 22/05/2020 22:58

Your chance of dying in car crash in any given year is 0.005% and your lifetime risk of dying in a car crash is 0.416%

TheGreatWave · 22/05/2020 23:06

jourdain sorry for your shit news. Have a good cry. Flowers

pick I imagine the pit working history will have an effect in the Durham area, higher rates of respiratory illness has got to be a factor in outcomes.

I'm not NE by birth, my Dad came from a mining family, though he never went down the pit (worked above ground before moving when he married Mum)

Dowser · 22/05/2020 23:11

Well 92, 950 of us have survived so far
My friend was horrified that we were going for a walk and an Indian picnic
She said, oh it’s really bad in the ne
I don’t know, I think 36000 deaths out of a population of 67,000,000 isn’t as bad as feared and our town is on par with the national average
They’ve done a right number on her
She’s shielding and hasn’t left the house for 11 weeks
I couldn’t have done it

Dowser · 22/05/2020 23:14

I had that conversation with dh great wave
I talked first husband out of going down the pit as an electrician
He never even smoked

LilacTree1 · 22/05/2020 23:17

Dowser - is your friend on the shielding list?

Sorry, I’m curious about this now.....apart from my own fake shielding friend, my sister now has one and mum has one. There’s more of it about than I thought at the start.

OP posts:
Dowser · 22/05/2020 23:19

He would be 65 if still Alive, so there would be many people in those figures for the ne who’d spent many years in the pits
Probably in 70s and 80s and 90s who’ve just passed on recently
Awful job. I’ve been to the big pit in wales ( shudders)...especially when they turned out the lights

TitianaTitsling · 22/05/2020 23:19

Again I apologize if posted already as can't keep up as been at work, but there's a dementoring post going about re 'will accept kids going back to school but I don't want keyworkers kids in my bubble'. So we can care for you, save your lives, make sure you have food, petrol etc etc, but know our place?! I hope it's a piss take as I'm just so done with all of this!!

Dowser · 22/05/2020 23:19

Yes, she is

TitianaTitsling · 22/05/2020 23:23

@Jourdain11 am so sorry re your news, I hope you know that here is a group of people who are with you and ready to support you.(unmumsnetty)xx

Willow2017 · 22/05/2020 23:23

Jourdain11
Thats bloody crap news.

No wonder you are feeling awful, its a lot to take in. Just do whatever it feels like, you have every right to cry, scream, feel sorry for yourself, get angry and rail at the world much better than keeping it all inside.
