Thank you Sad I'm feeling really sad! I wasn't ridiculously hopeful to be honest. I'm just thinking morbid thoughts about my children having to grow up motherless. A tiny bit melodramatic. And bloody lockdown, I've had enough of it. My poor husband, poor children. It's shit enough that I'm turning their lives upside down with being stupidly sick, I just want them to be able to do their normal stuff, see friends, go out, day trips, get a bit of a break from it all. I wouldn't mind a break from it myself. I'd like to go to a restaurant and have a really nice pizza and then get quite pissed on wine WineWineWine

Bollss · 22/05/2020 20:49

That's reassuring @Drivingdownthe101

We read with him every day and I've been attempting to get him to write. He learns much better around other kids though but I am persisting!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 22/05/2020 20:53

@Springersrock
0.13% have been infected.

BakewellTarts · 22/05/2020 20:53

@Jourdain11 it must be very scary. And it's OK to be feeling the way you do. In your shoes I know I would. And yes desperately need normailty. Day trips are OK now so why not go on one?

Littlebelina · 22/05/2020 20:54

Jourdain, that's shit news, sorry to hear it. Flowers

Nihiloxica · 22/05/2020 21:00

Jourdain much love to you ❤

You and your DH sound awesome, I love your Downtown joke.

heroku · 22/05/2020 21:02

@BakewellTarts yes I saw Douglas Murray recently refer to the lockdown (and associated economic damage) as "the Boomers' last act".

To be clear - I don't actually like talking about boomers vs millennials - I find it divisive. But I am frustrated by the fact that there is such little recognition of the sacrifice that younger people are making right now.

Mascotte · 22/05/2020 21:02

@Jourdain11 do you feel able to eat? Could you get a murderous takeaway and a swig of wine...?

MinesaPinot · 22/05/2020 21:03

joudain11 sorry to hear your news, that's shit. Hugs and Flowers

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 22/05/2020 21:05

@jourdain11

(((((hugs))))))) hang in there- you are brave and strong and lovely.

Continue venting to us here and really hoping you'll be getting better very soon, must be so hard for you all. Really thinking of you.

Jourdain11 · 22/05/2020 21:14

Thank you so much - for wicked murderers, you're all very lovely people WinkFlowers

I'd love to go for a day trip but I'm supposed to be shielding so it's a no-no really. I am totally okay with doing my own risk assessment and I daresay at some point I will, but if I did happen to get sick (anything, not just corona) I'd feel like a bit of a selfish idiot.

DH has ordered some killing takeaway pizza and has just gone out to pick it up and collect some wine as well on the way. I'm supposed to be banned from alcohol and I haven't got much appetite, but I want to taste some nice food even if I can't manage to eat much of it. And I'm supposed to be trying to put weight on. (I've lost about 15 kg since I got sick, and I was technically low BMI to start with, tho it was normal for me - think I have light bones or a skinny frame or something!). So it is all for the Greater Good and hopefully DH isn't going to be feeling guilty about the dozens of fatalities he may be causing!

ThatLibraryMiss · 22/05/2020 21:14

Has anyone seen that in Scotland, you will allowed to visit another household in their garden from next week?
Do you think England will follow suit?

I have a lovely friend who believes all sorts of weird shit (5G, oh gods, I had to talk her out of starting a local campaign against it) and thinks we should all wear masks when we leave the house and she invited me round to sit in her garden for a couple of hours this week. We sat a very long way apart but I was really encouraged that she felt able to do it. If she can, I think it's happening de facto if not de jure.

apparently only 8 parents in her class think it’s ‘safe enough’ to send them back

I didn’t realise parents got to decide when schools should be in session. I thought it was the LEA’s job.

PickAChew · 22/05/2020 21:16

Crap news @Jourdain11 🥀🌹

Mascotte · 22/05/2020 21:17

Yay, @Jourdain11 even a wee nibble of pizza and sip of wine might help feel bit more normal.

Keep at it and you can joint the Serbian festival flight 😂

MynephewR · 22/05/2020 21:19

I've been having a nosey at these threads for a while, usually when I need reassurance that I'm not the only person with a bit of common sense Grin. Can I join?

I'm so fed up today. Had an email from DD's school to say that the board of trustees (academy trust) have decided that they are not opening for EYFS, y1 and y6 and are just extending the vulnerable and key workers children groups a bit. I'm so angry! It's just a "fuck you" to the government and "see I told you so" to the parents who wanted to send their kids back. It's political, not about what's best for the kids at all. Dd is in reception and I was so looking forward to her going back to school, she really needs to go back, she needs to see other kids!

MaxNormal · 22/05/2020 21:19

@Jourdain11 so sorry Flowers

LilacTree1 · 22/05/2020 21:19

Jourdain hugs for you

Bakewell if any of us had gardens that would be doable!

iamapixie · 22/05/2020 21:23

@Jourdain11
God that's shit, but if there is any temporary solution, it's pizza and wine. And you're really not being melodramatic... I think if we were allowed, we could all point you to numerous other threads to teach you a bit of PROPER melodrama!

Mascotte · 22/05/2020 21:30

@MynephewR hello!

BakewellTarts · 22/05/2020 21:35

@MynephewR welcome to the cult I think of common sense!

LizzyButton · 22/05/2020 21:42

By the time I got to Abba's Dancing Queen in the Cummings story I realised I'd slipped into a musical fantasy. It's like Mama Mia but set in Durham and there's no Colin Firth.

fartingsparkles · 22/05/2020 21:42

An off topic favour please oh lovely culties. I have my 1st click and collect at tesco tomorrow, and just went to confirm and pay, which I think i have done. But it still says I can 'make changes and check out' - so have I? Its all too confusing for a friday night!

Thisdressneedspockets · 22/05/2020 21:47

Poor Dominic Cummings, fancy his parents living close enough to dementors to ensure that it was made public. It did make me laugh though, especially dancing Queen and the heavy coat and scarf..

TheGreatWave · 22/05/2020 21:55

The NE does seem particularly bad, the higher rates tend to be in that general area too.

Any sign of more than one person together is met with cries of "there'll be another peak" it is so much more complicated than that. Health outcomes are already poor, it was never a level playing field to begin with.

PickAChew · 22/05/2020 21:59

The Dancing Queen bit did make me laugh out loud!
