What's been your weirdest purchase lately?

As the title suggests... let's hear about your random midnight online purchases. I think my most unnecessary (perhaps not weird) purchase has been one of those pancake batter dispensers, simply because I was fed up of what a mess we made on the ONE Sunday in forever that we made pancakes.

Wasail where is that from please? I want one!

Cocolapew · 28/05/2020 23:30

A tin whistle.
I really, really want a weed burner now.

QueenOfTheSandals · 28/05/2020 23:36

A glass prism.

I need to know more about the inflatable seagulls. I’m not sure WHY but I have this strange idea that I need some. It’s a curious sensation as I can’t imagine what I’d do with a pair of inflatable seagulls...

Well when I set off to the farm shop for some sausages and baked goods the last thing I expected to come home with was a wooden carved Highway Rat!!!

A soup maker that's still in its box and a real fancy blender thats almost TOO good at its job Envy it's totally obliterating the ice in my cocktails instead of making a nice slush

Duffmcstockings · 29/05/2020 00:01

Jade chickens

Duffmcstockings · 29/05/2020 00:03

They look pretty jaded, but they are happy as LarryGrinwe have very spoilt chickens

middleager · 29/05/2020 00:25

A folding 6ft pool table that doubles up as a table tennis table, with dartboard.

Nowhere to actually put it Hmm

spiderlight · 29/05/2020 14:10

Here, in all their glory, are new seal Chubbington and the original Blubbington. Chubbington has a better face (albeit slightly constipated) but the two sides of his back are made from completely different colours of material. He also has his own Instagram account.

Vintage Uranium glass salad bowl.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 29/05/2020 14:23

I've bought hair lightener and sky blue dye as my 9 year old really really wanted blue hair. Faded a bit now and as it looks like his schooling won't restart any time soon I'll probably be ordering some more.
DH ordered a thingy to connect his camera to his telescope. We've some lovely fuzzy snaps of Jupiter and Saturn now.

Christmassaussage · 29/05/2020 23:41

At the beginning of lockdown and went through a phase of doomsday purchases from amazon. Included water purifying Tablets, water cannisters, a solar radio/flashlight/usb Charger, ultimate survival guide, a book on when no medical help is available and some weird shovel that also turns into an axe? On the upside, I'm nearly kitted out for camping BlushConfused

Tillybillmate · 29/05/2020 23:45

A shewee Blush

Murinae · 30/05/2020 00:09

@Duffmcstockings I bought another two chickens too (Pektin bantams) as one of my silkies died.

A bidet attachment for the loo! Bought because of loo roll worries, but turns out it's amazing for periods!

FizzyPink · 30/05/2020 07:54

@Tillybillmate would you recommend a shewee? DP is disgusted at the thought of them but I can think of lots of useful uses.
Do you just find a bush and it means you can wee like a man?

Tillybillmate · 30/05/2020 09:17

It hasn't arrived yet - it's due to come on Monday. It was only £4.99, so I figured it's worth a go 😬. From looking at the info, it looks like you can wee standing on to the ground or in to bottle... I suspect some sort of blanket of skirt might be needed to wrap around you 🙈.

little0miss0mac · 30/05/2020 09:55

Loving this thread! And lawn spike shoes now on order. DH is going to be in heaven -
more enabling of his lawn obsession 😃

Mesmeri · 30/05/2020 10:03

Some graphic novels about roller derby. I'm 40 and I can't roller skate and would not particularly ever want to try it, but in theory roller derby looks so fun and empowering, I am slightly obsessed with it this week.

CakeandCoffeeQueen · 30/05/2020 10:22

@MouseholeCat did you install it yourself? Would you mind linking it please?

Khione · 30/05/2020 10:49

For those of you new to shewee. Do lots of practice at home first otherwise you are very likely to end up with wet clothes.

I have also found that you do have to still lower your trousers somewhat to get it into position. Still better than squatting though and definitely less risk from stinging nettles and brambles.

jellybe · 30/05/2020 10:57

A set of essential oils and carrier oil. No idea how to use them so also bought a book all about aromatherapy.

Khione · 30/05/2020 11:09

My buys
hedgehog food - I now have 5 or 6 hedgehog visits every evening - but I'm now using dried cat food as it is much cheaper.

vacuum cleaner filter bags to make liners for home made masks that I am not wearing. (I carry one in case anywhere insists or I have for some reason to travel on public transport)

A cheap, shocking pink ginger/garlic grater.

Soft bras that are only marginally more supportive than going braless but at least I feel dressed.

And a pallet knife for icing the Christmas Cake that I have promised myself I'll make for the last 10 Christmasses
