What's been your weirdest purchase lately?

As the title suggests... let's hear about your random midnight online purchases. I think my most unnecessary (perhaps not weird) purchase has been one of those pancake batter dispensers, simply because I was fed up of what a mess we made on the ONE Sunday in forever that we made pancakes.

4 stainless steel balls

thistimelastweek · 22/05/2020 19:07

A potato bag.

AmericanLemonade · 22/05/2020 19:07

I ordered a really cheap crappy pot of slime in my sleep Grin

Giggorata · 22/05/2020 19:13

A wicker onion storage thingy and some stainless steel straws, with tiny brush. Oh, and a 3 foot tall twisted green glass decanter.

lazylinguist · 22/05/2020 19:25

My weirdest lockdown purchase so far is what dh now refers to as my 'boob light'. It's a pair of lights on a bendable thingy that sits round your neck. I wanted it for knitting in the evening, as the lights in our living room aren't very bright.

SharpieInThe · 22/05/2020 19:33

Is it a Witney blanket @Iwalkinmyclothing? They're great. There are collectors, prepare for a bidding war. Hope you win.

SpringSpringTime · 22/05/2020 19:33

Boob light sounds amazing linguist

Iwalkinmyclothing · 22/05/2020 19:44

@SharpieInThe no I don't think it is, but I am now stalking a few of those! Thank you for the new target of blanket lust :)

TwoZeroTwoZero · 22/05/2020 19:58

I've just bought a skull. It will be delivered on Monday along with a small porcelain teapot and milk jug.

thequeenofsandwich · 22/05/2020 20:07

Amazon is my friend
A Steel rule for work
A vacuum prosecco cork for home...

MartiniDry · 22/05/2020 20:25

A metal fat ball holder for feeding the birds.
All manner of stuff to start a junk journal scrapbook. Except the scrapbook itself because I can't decide what upon I want.
A V shaped pillow. It's bliss.

What's been your weirdest purchase lately?
FizzyPink · 22/05/2020 21:25

@thequeenofsandwich which is your prosecco cork please? Our normal ones don’t hold in the fizz and I can’t drink a whole bottle in one evening

MrsGrindah · 22/05/2020 21:32

The Usborne book of cassette recorder fun.

I bought the above book on eBay as I loved recording as a child; in this book I read about things I should have tried doing, such as wildlife recordings where you put a microphone inside an umbrella to focus the sound of birdsong. This book also had the line "then try to coax the cat into purring".

Pupsiecola · 22/05/2020 22:42

A microwavable heat cap (and deep conditioning treatment) as I use lockdown to embrace and develop my natural curls after 20 years of blow-drying straight.

Nonsense, if you drink so much as a thimble full more than every leap year on mumsnet you are most definitely an alcoholic

Summer776 · 23/05/2020 01:48

An electric weed burner. Very addictive. Burnt all weeds on the drive, patio and ugly weeds around the edges of the lawn.

Tillygetsit · 23/05/2020 02:21

A nail grinder thing for my dogs. They hate clippers. They'll probably hate this too but they're turning into the canine version of Edward Scissorhands.

managedmis · 23/05/2020 02:31

God I haven't bought anything fun at all

Maria53 · 23/05/2020 02:31

A wig. To see what I'd look like with a new hair colour.

Pickles89 · 23/05/2020 02:38

Literally just ordered a box of cedar cubes from Amazon, despite the reviews telling me they don't work, because I have a mothy situation going on.

Pickles89 · 23/05/2020 02:43

@Bluebellpainting Uh-huh, that's what he SAYS. I'll bet he wants to build a sandcastle. Grin

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 23/05/2020 07:06

A kg of dried mealworms for the birds, which I have to soak in warm water to make them suitable for baby birds - and then drain in my sieve, yuck! - having nothing else.

Now need an extra sieve!
