Sturgeon can stop dragging her heels and get on with it.

littlbrowndog · 21/05/2020 10:35

I don’t think she will relax anything till 28th. Sad to say that.

Sometimes I feel like I might explode with this. What is wrong with sunbathing or sitting in park

Orangeblossom78 · 21/05/2020 10:35

How can the NT open car parks but not toilets...surely they should open them as well but with ways of doing so appropriately. They charge enough for their parking.

rookiemere · 21/05/2020 10:38

littlebrowndog police out as well to stop anyone trying to get any enjoyment from their walk. Shame it's not as sunny today or I'd enjoy taking an alcoholic ginger beer to my secret pub garden. It's a bloody farce not letting us meet one person outside.

Shodan · 21/05/2020 10:40

@Nihiloxica

I saw your comments on that thread and thought "Oh FFS, what an idiot, why would they...Oh LOL. It's Nihiloxica" Grin

Haven't been back yet to see just how many are going to seize that and run though...

KaronAVyrus · 21/05/2020 10:40

I really can’t understand the thinking behind not opening golf courses or allowing fishing. Just over the top.

littlbrowndog · 21/05/2020 10:47

Yeah we saw police on the meadows when we were out on a murdering spree at shops 🤦‍♀️

Orangeblossom78 · 21/05/2020 10:51

It feels like this thread has got quite focused on Scotland (not any criticism btw!- am Scottish too but living 'down south')

Wonder if some of the dementoring has stopped a bit in England perhaps

ISaySteadyOn · 21/05/2020 10:56

@Nihiloxica, re:Victorian schools, I completely agree. And, tbh, DD1 would absolutely adore a Victorian style school. A desk and people being quiet is her idea of heaven Smile

Nihiloxica · 21/05/2020 10:56

I really can’t understand the thinking behind not opening golf courses or allowing fishing.

Well it's not to reduce the spread of the virus.

So it seems to be about making some kind of statement.

To me it looks like a very ugly statement about Scottish purity in the face of English incontinence, but I'm not Scottish and haven't lived there for many years.

Someone actually tried to tell me recently on a different topic that English nationalism was bad because it's right wing, but Scottish and Irish nationalism are wonderful Confused

How unbiased! What a considered position. Hmm

Shodan I realised after I posted it that even though it is batshit crazy, it was well within Dementor logic. Silly of me.

IcedPurple · 21/05/2020 10:57

2 weeks on from VE Day.

Any sign of that 'spike' the dementors were so gleefully predicting?

duckme · 21/05/2020 10:58

@Orangeblossom78
Not on my Facebook feed it hasn't it.
They're positively delighting in dementoring.
Someone posted a fun meme of some monkeys jumping down a path saying 'this'll be me when the pubs reopen'. First poster soon shot down that milisecond of lightheartedness.

Springersrock · 21/05/2020 11:01

There’s still a lot of dementoring round here, but there’s a lot of anti-dementors coming out of the woodwork

There was some hysterical replies on a local newspaper post yesterday about people visiting the beach, but there were a lot of people calling out the worst of the nonsense.

Our beach was busy-ish but not packed. Certainly not like a normal weekend in the summer holidays like some were claiming.

There’s still the same old “stay the fuck at home” brigade, doggedly posting on every post they see and some claiming sending kids to school is akin to murdering grannies in their beds, but on the whole it’s better than it was.

Until the next government announcement when they’ll all be off again

heroku · 21/05/2020 11:08

My friends are still in "stay the fuck at home" land. Lots of dementoring this morning about people being irresponsible going to the beach when they could sit in their garden. A spanner was thrown in the works when I (innocently) asked how you could catch coronavirus by walking down the beach. Apparently the volume of people coughing and sneezing in one place makes it a danger zone. Surely the same is true if everyone is sitting in their back gardens?

ilovecardigans · 21/05/2020 11:10

Lo, I give you twatty crane driver dementor...

twitter.com/Faycebuk/status/1263038755067310080

Remarkable level of petty arseholery on display. Quite astounding.

Bollss · 21/05/2020 11:11

Why are they assuming everyone's coughing and sneezing though?

thenightsky · 21/05/2020 11:12

No dementoring in our little close of 9 houses. The kids have all started playing out together this week, so neighbour has put a basketball thing up by the garages for them all. They are so happy. The atmosphere here is very jovial. Drinks outside in the road tonight I reckon.

heroku · 21/05/2020 11:13

@TrustTheGeneGenie because WE'RE IN A PANDEMIC! Everyone is riddled! Wink

Weedsnseeds1 · 21/05/2020 11:19

OrangeBlossom afraid it hasn't.
It's still awash with hand wringing and wailing.
I'm in Somerset, really low levels of infection, but we will apparently be spreading it left right and centre if we so much as open a window.
If the Savage hoards of the grsat unwashed (AKA daytrippers, not even tourists, because there is nowhere to stay) we will be decimated, worse than decimated, as it won't be 1 in 10, it'll be all of us, especially the children, they will die twice.
Looking at the source of the contagion (Wales and the Midlands), logic would suggest that many of them have been exposed and survived, have natural immunity or are dead. So provided they take reasonable precautions, the risk is minimal.

Springersrock · 21/05/2020 11:19

We’re also still getting a fair amount of “the hospital is overwhelmed” “if you go out, there won’t be a ventilator” posts

I’ve spent the last million weeks of lockdown nagging my DD not to do anything silly or risky when riding her pony as we had to be careful, the NHS was struggling and we shouldn’t take additional risks, only for her to spill a kettle full of freshly boiled water down herself last night. Took her up to the minor injuries unit and the place was completely empty, we were in an out in less than an hour

Had a chat with the nurse who said they’d never been overwhelmed, that the extra ward they’d built had never been used and the regular ITU ward they’d set aside for Covid had never had more than about half it’s beds in use at once

Now, back at the beginning I understand the concern, but people shouldn’t still be spreading this bullshit. It’s flat out scaremongering and completely untrue.

BirdieFriendReturns · 21/05/2020 11:20

Good news - I work on a military base and we are expected to go back to work from 1st June. Smile

One week on, one week WFH to account for the several thousand people who work there!

Springersrock · 21/05/2020 11:22

Oh, and a comedy gold post I saw earlier

Someone getting very upset that the council were resurfacing a road.

IT WILL ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO DRIVE ON IT FFS!!!!!!

Bollss · 21/05/2020 11:22

@Springersrock hope your DD is ok! That must have been scary.

Glad you got sorted quickly and v reassuring to hear they were never overwhelmed

Orangeblossom78 · 21/05/2020 11:26

Weeds in SW here as well, yes I did get that woman taking photos yesterday here didn't I (near Bristol) so guess it is still going on but I just come on here and don't use social media so that is my gauge.

Maybe on MN there is a bit less "stay the f**ck at home" etc - think I have noticed a bit of a sway towards those posts not getting as much drama etc due to the ease in restrictions etc. making them look a bit mad. Not 'the rules' anymore is it

Orangeblossom78 · 21/05/2020 11:27

Speaking of weed there's a lot of that around right now in the SW by the smell of it!
