What have you achieved today, no matter how small?

Feeling drained, anxious, sad and exhausted today. But so far I have managed to

Get out of bed, feed the children and pets

Have a bath and get the DCs washed and dressed

Put a wash on

Sat outside for a bit having a cuppa and listened to the birds

My mental health is shot to pieces so I'm celebrating the very small wins today.

That's what I like about this thread too @cheeseychovolate - it's very motivating. I've not done much this morning but I have fed, dressed and played with dd. Now I'm about to do the same for me before I may try a walk around the block with her.

I think lockdown has allowed me to slow right down in my final trimester and given me so much time with my dd before the new baby arrives. It's awful not to see family and friends, but I think it's good to focus on the positives where we can and this thread has reminded me of that. Thanks @Bluewavescrashing for starting this Smile

This thread reminds me of a saying my Irish nana would say: Everybody fed, nobody dead! She’d say it at the end of a day where you’d feel you’ve achieved nothing and it always came to mind when my now teens were babies and children. Life can be so overwhelming especially with the rolling news and social media but just thinking small can help in times like these.

Therealjudgejudy · 19/05/2020 14:43

Great thread...
So far today, showered and dressed. Stripped my bed and put on the laundry. Hoovered my apartment and washed all floors. Went for a walk in the sunshine. Took out the rubbish and am now about to have homemade 12 veg soup for lunch.

This evening ill watch modern family and drink hot chocolate Smile

Peridot1 · 19/05/2020 16:05

A good day here.

Did a load of washing and hung it up.
Cleaned two bathrooms.
Dusted my bedroom.
Emptied a box of stuff we cleared out of DS’s room a couple of months ago which was sitting in the hallway. One more to do.
Did a long email to a friend I reconnected with after 18 years.

That’s me done! Going to read my book in the sunshine with a cuppa now.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 19/05/2020 16:43

Crossed a stream on stepping stones without falling in.

MrsAvocet · 19/05/2020 18:07

I stood on one leg for 10 seconds.
Its one of my physio goals and it has taken me a month to achieve it so I am quite pleased.

Bluewavescrashing · 19/05/2020 18:13

Today I've started an open University course that I needed to do for work. I have been putting it off but actually enjoyed studying for a couple of hours.

This morning I cleaned the shower and showered the DCs. And myself

I did painting with the DCs. They loved it!

I'm now in bed feeling 💩 but at least I have achieved some little things.

Hope you feel better @Bluewavescrashing. I managed quite a long walk with my dd. And I've sorted through some of her old clothes ready to go into storage so there's room for the new baby's cot.
Will do tea soon, after dd's bedtime.

cheeseychovolate · 20/05/2020 07:40

Lilgreen, everybody fed, nobody dead. I love this, made me laugh.

Bluewavescrashing · 20/05/2020 11:42

I love that saying too and often repeat it to myself!

Today I woke up feeling shite so am proud that I've

Got up
Had a shower and put on suncream
Fed myself and kids (donuts so not ideal but the bar has been lowered!)
Wiped the kitchen
Taught homeschool

Now sitting in the garden whilst DCs vegetate in front of screens. I don't know ify chronic illness is relapsing, or I'm very depressed or have a virus but my body feels so heavy and tired. I don't want to do anything else today.

I’m not planning on doing much either today.

Will put on a load of laundry and maybe vacuum but that’s it.

Sounds like you need a lazy day @Bluewavescrashing.

listsandbudgets · 20/05/2020 12:00

Stripped DDs bed and put a wash on
Been to the supermarket
Fed the cats
Made scrambled egg on toast
supervised DSs English lesson on " emotive verbs"
Had a lovely chat with dd
cleaned the chopping board
located missing recorder.. very glad dp is about to supervise DSs online music lesson

and about to hang up the washing

lucysmam · 20/05/2020 12:50

I've got up, dressed and got the girls dressed. We've done school work & dd1 is just making lunch.

I've got a wash load on, and one on the line. And I'm carrying on with bits of diy in the kitchen.

It's a lovely day out so we're off for a wander in the sunshine for an hour or two after lunch. And I might paint a door later.

daisysummer · 20/05/2020 18:08

I have had a headache today but have managed to:

Work from home

Do my hair and makeup for a Zoom meeting (vain about the greys)

Go for a lunchtime walk in the sun

Drink less coffee than I usually do

Make scrambled eggs on toasted bagels for lunch to feel full to try and stop snacking during the afternoon

Ate less chocolate than yesterday

About to cook dinner now

Reading that back makes me feel like I was quite productive although I didn't do any housework this evening 🙂

theseriousmoonlight · 20/05/2020 18:22

I've done 2 loads of washing and put both on the line.
Emptied the dishwasher.
Done an hour's work and answered a few emails.
Coloured in with dd.
Hoovered the living room.
Gone for a short walk with dd and dp.
Done dd's tea.
Now I'm sitting down.

peaceanddove · 20/05/2020 18:29

Up, showered, hair dried, outfit chosen and simple makeup on. But this is standard for every day to be fair. Pegged out laundry, drank 3 cups of coffee and had some fruit with a bagel for lunch. Cleaned garden furniture, put up the parasol and got some snacks and drinks from the shop, all ready for my best friend coming over.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 20/05/2020 19:40

peaceanddove. I’m very jealous that you’re having a friend to visit.
I’ve worked my socks off again today in a ward with covid positive patients.
Now I’m home I’m too drained to go for a walk with ds or do the bootcamp that I’d planned.
Day off tomorrow so I’ll make it up to him.

Bluewavescrashing · 20/05/2020 20:20

@Muchtoomuchtodo thank you for everything you do

I decided the way out of my dreadful mood was vodka. I haven't had a drink for 5 days or so. It's helping for now.

I just feel so sad.

Had a good day today weather wise and productivity
Washed all bedding and clothes (helped they dried on the line within the hour
Did 11000 steps
Had fun with DS in the paddling pool
Reordered my contact lenses

Tomorrow I have a Skype meeting and I need to prepare a tenancy contract

Natsku · 20/05/2020 20:42

I did the first day of couch to 5k

DareDevil223 · 20/05/2020 20:48

I defrosted and cleaned the freezer. I am waiting for the medal or honour that I richly deserve for my herculean effort....

2468whodoyouappreciate · 20/05/2020 22:02

I ate a whole packet of Digestives.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 20/05/2020 22:27

Bluewavescrashing. Thank you. I’m not currently doing the job that I’m employed to do so it does feel way out of my comfort zone but we are definitely making a difference and getting people home (therapist).

We all have up and downs days Whatever position we find ourselves in. I hope you enjoyed your drink this evening. Tomorrow’s another day x

lucysmam · 21/05/2020 14:09

Just checking in with today's list. It helps to see it all written down & seeing other folks are up to as much, or as little, as we are :)

So far I've done two loads of washing, supervised Mum school (hard work today but we got there eventually), comforted dd2 who seems to have hit a bit of a wall today :( and applied new sealant to half of my kitchen which has made it look much tidier and given me an extra 1.5" of worktop space after removing the beading that someone had previously put allllll the way round Hmm

I'm just about to have a crack at removing the sealant from the other side now. And I still want to paint that bloody door!!

peaceanddove · 21/05/2020 14:16

I'm up, showered, dressed and wearing simple make up. Have made the bed and briefly tidied the kitchen. Tried on 2 bras that arrived this morning, and parcelled them up to return as they don't fit.

Have drunk three cups of coffee and eaten 2 satsumas and a cheese wrap for lunch. Just about to go and fold some laundry and put it away, then going to frame a few pictures and hang them. So not much but fancy a lazy day today x
