What have you achieved today, no matter how small?

Feeling drained, anxious, sad and exhausted today. But so far I have managed to

Get out of bed, feed the children and pets

Have a bath and get the DCs washed and dressed

Put a wash on

Sat outside for a bit having a cuppa and listened to the birds

My mental health is shot to pieces so I'm celebrating the very small wins today.

I have managed to make it to episode 4, series 1 of the Game of Thrones and I cannot believe how much I am enjoying it Blush.

FauxFox · 24/05/2020 18:06

I sorted out my lockdown eyebrows 😂 what an achievement! And by ‘sorted out’ I merely mean tweezer action - no HD business or tinting or anything. I have also played a lot of online scrabble...

Observer123 · 24/05/2020 19:38

Slept until 8am (which is late for me, I'm normally 5am) sat about on Mumsnet, cooked breakfast, then took the dog out around 11ish? 2 hours with him then cut the grass, had a nap on the living room sofa for an hour, cleaned the bathroom, had dinner, now I'm probably going to go to bed? Watch a Netflix show in bed. I'm telling myself I haven't been entirely lazy.. just pacing myself Grin

theseriousmoonlight · 24/05/2020 20:16

Those buns sound delicious DrMadelineMaxwell. I've never really got on with baking. I don't think I have the patience but I keep thinking I'll try it again as I do enjoy eating cakes...

I've been so lazy today. My dd stayed in pjs until after her nap and I didn't get dressed until her nap. Considering the nap was at 2pm, that's pretty lazy I think.

Apart from that I've:
Sorted my overnight bag a little. Ordered a fan from Amazon and a new nursing top as I want to bf.
Emptied the dishwasher.
Done a couple of pot washes (still have to do this despite the dishwasher which annoys me no end)
Taken all dirty clothes into the utility room but haven't quite managed to fill or set off washing machine.
Got annoyed at the daily press briefing.
Gone for a walk around the block with dd and dp.

DO is doing bedtime and brought dinner home (he's a doctor and food companies have provided meals for hosptial staff this weekend) so I think I'm pretty done for today.

Pinkarsedfly · 24/05/2020 21:07

Feeling a bit ashamed today as I went back to bed and slept until 1:40pm Blush

In an effort to redeem myself I have:

Made a cooked breakfast for DH
Walked the dogs for an hour
Written a script for my MA weekly exercise
Cooked a roast
Baked a Victoria sponge
Baked some vegan/gluten-free choc chip cookies
Watered my veg plants
Done a bit of knitting and reading

Bluewavescrashing · 24/05/2020 21:32

So many good things happening on this thread.

Today I have:
Been out for a nice family walk
Not snacked or drunk alcohol
Made breakfast and lunch, tidied away etc
Ignored grumpy 6yo when tantruming
Hoovered
Cleaned 2 x bathrooms

More productive day than most. I just finished Normal People and cried 😭

I mean, more productive than most of My days, not more productive than most of you 😁

Sang out loud. That might sound strange, but I normally sing in a choir and have only just realised how badly the lack of opportunity to sing has been affecting my mental health.

Planted out some tomato plants.

Had some 1-2-1 time with both (teenage) daughters. That was particularly nice.

lucysmam · 25/05/2020 16:30

I've not done much of anything today. Went to work, came back & washed up. Now I'm about to cook tea and think about making a giant cookie, to go with ice cream, for pudding.

I've been thinking about making the cookie for a while now & not got anywhere...

mogloveseggs · 25/05/2020 16:39

Stripped and washed the beds
Been shopping and picked up the Argos order
Been for a social distanced walk with dm
Sat in the paddling pool for an hour with Ds
Now dh has gone to make the beds and I'm doing a picky tea
Pretty good day overall

Bluewavescrashing · 25/05/2020 16:41

Omg giant cookie 😋

I started a diet today. So far, so good.

I've washed the sheets, done 2 other loads of laundry.

Sorted out dishwasher load full of gritty sandy residue, rewashed up, filled up salt, wiped kitchen, put washing up away.

Went to shop to buy healthy food.

I've been up since 6am with the kids and done a tiny bit of tidying. We've did their hair and made up swings. Plus got sunburnt (I burn very easily despite sun cream). Can't wait to get to bed tonight

TroysMammy · 25/05/2020 16:48

Tidied up my craft ribbons and now going to transplant beetroot seedlings.

sundayinthesun · 25/05/2020 17:16

Went for a walk to a local supermarket to buy some essentials

Made a delicious lunch

Tidied up the flat a bit

Had an afternoon snooze

Did some reading on my kindle

Thinking about what to have for dinner

mum2jakie · 25/05/2020 18:02

Small shop.
Picnic in the park.
Washing in and topped dishwasher salt/rinse aid and cleaned filter.
Going to cut some bushes in the back garden.
My life is so exciting at the minute 😂

Moirasbebe · 25/05/2020 22:07

Trip to garden centre for compost and canes.
Built a raised bed, planted baby sweet peas, radishes, beans, lettuce out.
Watered all plants in the kitchen garden.
Knitted a bit.
Walked the dogs - got to 10k steps.
Made dinner.
Put a wash on.
And got a first for my latest MA assignment!

forgetthehousework · 26/05/2020 19:49

Made a new pincushion as my old one is now so tatty things are disappearing into it.

No, really, I know that sounds impossible but I disintered over a two dozen pins from the stuffing. I had been wondering why I don't seem to have as many pins as I used to!

Bluewavescrashing · 26/05/2020 20:21

I have been for a long walk with DD
Showered
Roasted a chicken
Eaten a low calorie picnic 2m away from a friend
Put some washing away
Had a nap
That's about it. Feeling a bit more positive today.

I haven't said "You treat this place like a hotel" to my adult DC but have thought it many times since they got home from work

BringPizza · 26/05/2020 20:30

Started an exercise regime after weighing myself and seeing that sitting on my arse working from home for 10hrs/day for 2 months combined with lots of cake, no gym and no commute has surprisingly led to me piling on 1st. I thought my jim jams were looking fuller Grin

Also no cake today, no crisps, no alcohol, nothing but 3 sensible meals and half a tub of grapes, and lots of water.

mum2jakie · 26/05/2020 20:32

WFH and kept kids fed all day.

Three loads of washing, two beds changed

Serin · 26/05/2020 20:41

At work for 8.30am
Made 6 visits to patients at home.
Went home at Lunchtime to shower and change clothes as some of the morning patients were Covid+.
Came home at 6pm, which is early for me (should have finished at 4.30pm but that never happens) Grin
Third shower of the day.
Made steak and chips and salad for 5.
Live with 3 adult DC and DH all willing to cook, but I like cooking as it chills me out.
Played with Ddog.
Now MN with a nice cup of tea.

Been a good day. Smile

Aclh13 · 27/05/2020 00:51

OK...

Bluewavescrashing · 27/05/2020 19:48

I've been to the recycling centre, queued for a while but had nothing better to do and was pleased to sit in the car on my own for half an hour! Got rid of old clothes and an ancient duvet.

I've cut my son's hair (badly) and put him in the shower. Cleaned the bathroom as it was covered in hair.

Put some boxes in the loft.

Made 3 meals and tidied up afterwards.

Played cards with the DCs.

One load of washing.

lucysmam · 27/05/2020 21:01

I've been to work, done two loads of washing, repaired a duvet cover and tried to iron my new cotton. Oh and I gave another door a lick of paint this morning before work too. As well as the usual feeding everyone & tidying up after us all.

I, unfortunately, discovered my iron is knackered & leaving scorch marks on my cotton so sewing anything will have to wait until I buy a new one :(
