What have you achieved today, no matter how small?

Feeling drained, anxious, sad and exhausted today. But so far I have managed to

Get out of bed, feed the children and pets

Have a bath and get the DCs washed and dressed

Put a wash on

Sat outside for a bit having a cuppa and listened to the birds

My mental health is shot to pieces so I'm celebrating the very small wins today.

V impressed with everybody’s achievements on this thread! Just wanted to send a hug to those who are struggling, and a reminder that lockdown is not forever.
I live alone and am having a v slow recovery from Covid after being hospitalised. But at the weekend I managed a mile and a half walk at a local lake without getting breathless, played for 2 hours in an online bridge tournament, and did 30 minutes weeding. Small things, but I’m thrilled with them, considering I spent 2 weeks fighting to breathe every night, before the ambulance arrived!
Keep on buggering on, as I think Churchill said. We will come out the other side of this eventually. And we will have learned things about ourselves, our approach to life, what things actually matter, and our need for other people.

Bluewavescrashing · 18/05/2020 15:36

Glad you are recovering @Babdoc Flowers

I really really didn't feel like playing with the DCs today but I built lego, played a long board game and took them out to play football. Now screen time for all!

These are really great achievements, well done everyone. Do you think we're so used to being flat out all the time that we've lost our sense of perspective? I feel like I'm achieving nothing yet if I write down my achievements then objectively it looks like plenty!

Thighmageddon · 18/05/2020 16:03

I've actually washed the kitchen floor! Been meaning to do it for days weeks and it's now lemony fresh.

Carrie7469 · 18/05/2020 16:06

I've been suffering with my mental health recently, but I had a shower, washed my hair, got dressed and went for a walk by the river.

bumbleb33s · 18/05/2020 17:27

Got out of bed and functioned, after Just splitting with my OH, I’m stuggling

ohcorona · 18/05/2020 17:31

Dyed my hair which has been getting greyer and greyer. I made a shocking,g mess but hey ho it's done.
Took some Christmas cards down that have been on the back of the living room door since.....Christmas. The door is open all day and I don't see them and then when I finally shut the door at the end of the day I can't be fecking arsed.

Got through another day with my children who can't get along and DD has major sensory issues.

user1498572889 · 18/05/2020 17:34

I had my first day back at work. It was lovely 😂

mum2jakie · 18/05/2020 17:36

Great idea for a motivational thread!

I've spent the day working from home and have managed to keep the kids fed so far!

Need to tidy up and hang washing out before I go out for my daily walk in a minute.

theseriousmoonlight · 18/05/2020 18:00

@GrumpiestOldWoman I think the mundane nature of days being the same means things bleed into one another IYSWIM so you don't recognise what you've actually done that day. When walking to the post box becomes a 'treat', you know normal life is not normal!

Today I have:
Done three loads of washing.
Sorted my unisex newborn clothes into 'newborn' 0-1 month and 0-3 months.
Resisted the temptation to buy more unisex newborn sleepsuits.
Picked up a click and collect tesco (where the delivery guys kindly put my shopping in my boot as I'm too pregnant to bend and lift without grunting).
Answered a couple of work emails.
Completed a section of a workbook I'm designing for a SEN pupil I teach.
Rang (and got through to!) midwives to discuss my birth plan.
Played with my dd which mostly involved her running at me and getting a hug.
Made a tea which my dd actually ate (that's a MASSIVE achievement as it wasn"t just chicken nuggets)

Wow that is a lot now I've written it down...

Muchtoomuchtodo · 18/05/2020 19:36

Today I’ve hovered and done an online bootcamp.
The list of things I planned to do is much longer however!
Not to worry, they’ll all be waiting for me after work tomorrow!

bingowingsmcgee · 18/05/2020 19:41

I cooked lunch and tea, did a small shop, erm... I think that might be it. Oh I loaded the dryer and dishwasher. Didn't manage makeup today - normally I prioritize that #teamvanity

ThePug · 18/05/2020 19:44

I got an electronic toy working again after old batteries had leaked in it - a very helpful YouTube video told me to clean the contacts with vinegar and cotton buds - it worked Grin

Raella50 · 18/05/2020 19:52

Got up and did my yoga, showered and dressed ready before the kids were up tonhave breakfast together. Resisted snacking!

LoopyinLockdown · 18/05/2020 23:03

I actually showered and put my bra on.for 3 hours until I got back in my PJs.

Greenpop21 · 19/05/2020 09:55

Yesterday, I changed all the beds, washed and dried on the line, set up Zoom and had a great catch up with some friends. Walked the dog over fields for an hour, made a tuna pasta bake for dinner, watched TV, surfed perfume threads on here, ordered some, had great sex with DH.Grin

Peridot1 · 19/05/2020 10:02

Morning all. How is everyone doing today?

I’m feeling much better than yesterday. Still worried about my dad but not feeling as low as yesterday.

My main win yesterday was not drinking. I’ve been drinking far too much over the last few years let alone since lockdown. Cooked a nice healthy veggie pasta dish and then had a cuppa and two biscuits later in front of tv. Feel so much better this morning.

And today our lovely dog walker is back. We sadly lost one of our labs a week into lockdown and our remaining dog has had to adjust to no pal and no lovely off lead walks with her friends. It was so lovely to see her reaction this morning when the dog walker arrived.

So this morning I’m up, showered, a bit of make up on and dishwasher emptied.

Today’s main aims are to clean bathrooms.

Peridot1 · 19/05/2020 10:03

Wow Greenpoo! Sounds like a great day! Especially the last bit! Grin

Peridot1 · 19/05/2020 10:04

Greenpop! Not Greenpoo! OMG! Grin

yousexybugger · 19/05/2020 10:19

Wonderful idea for a thread OP Cake

Yesterday I was dizzy, anxious, fatigued and felt like a failure but I walked 12k steps, made a start on relearning mental arithmetic to help with a big exam in sept, and got an 'improvement' meeting with my junior out of the way quite positively despite some of her behaviour. I learnt some good tricks for squaring, multiplication etc and improved a bit on a timed maths game. Oh, and I now know what a surd is.

1forsorrow · 19/05/2020 10:21

I got up, washed and dressed, listened to the news. Messing about on here instead of doing some work I need to do for employer. I will probably end up doing that tonight and regretting not getting on with it.

Greenpop21 · 19/05/2020 10:28

Ha ha @Peridot1! Yes I wouldn’t normally post about my sex life but it really does lift my mood when it’s good.

Costacoffeeplease · 19/05/2020 10:29

Also yesterday afternoon I got confirmation that I’m now a Portuguese citizen, it’s only taken two and a half years since I applied Smile

cheeseychovolate · 19/05/2020 10:39

I like this thread. I'm feeling a bit down today and not much motivation, this thread is making me see I have done something. Today I've got up and dressed, helped little one get dressed and fed, put wash on, now going to do some reading eggs.

Martysmarvellousmeals · 19/05/2020 10:52

Today so far, getting a small room ready to paint, moved freezer and fridge freezer, Shock at what was underneath...

Cleaned all paintwork/window and walls now getting ready to paint...

Then second coat of a section of the stairs I did yesterday....

But I am dressed in my finest rags!
