What have you achieved today, no matter how small?

Feeling drained, anxious, sad and exhausted today. But so far I have managed to

Get out of bed, feed the children and pets

Have a bath and get the DCs washed and dressed

Put a wash on

Sat outside for a bit having a cuppa and listened to the birds

My mental health is shot to pieces so I'm celebrating the very small wins today.

I have sorted out a little cubby hole in the hallway, it gets the shopping bags just thrown in it and they're all spilling out, odd shoes and socks and rucksack etc ... I've folded all the bags into neat squares, cleared all the junk. Sorted the shoes out that no longer fit.
I've also cleaned the medical room out and completely stock checked and rejigged it. I feel happier.

Today I got up, went for a run and managed a full hour without stopping Smile

I’ve been struggling really badly with loneliness and my mental health has taken a nosedive, I used to be a keen runner over the last few years but it had tailed off before Christmas. I promised myself I’d use lockdown to get back into it and I’ve slowly built back up since March where I was run/walking a 6k up to 11k non stop.

Today was one of those days where I didn’t think I could face going out and running, but I got up and went. I feel proud of myself for doing it and it was the best thing I’ve achieved all week - just wanted to share it somewhere!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 17/05/2020 21:27

At work- got a patient sat up, stood up and sat out of bed for the first time in about a month. He ate and drank so much better Grin

SallyWD · 17/05/2020 21:45

Felt dreadful today - pmt so feel totally lethargic, miserable and run down. I hoovered, cleaned all the floors, cooked several meals, did a load of washing and had a walk. I could easily have stayed in bed all day.

happypotamus · 17/05/2020 22:26

Got my DC to put down screens and go out for a walk (by bribing them with food)
Went to the shop, bought food and made a picnic (see above)
Had a constructive discussion with DH so we agreed about whether DC2 should go back to school on 1st June if that actually happens
Remembered to email the school about that
Managed to log on to online banking and pay my sister for my parents' birthday presents (tickets for something that is now highly unlikely to happen), she has been waiting a long time for me to do that, also paid brownies subs
Tidied up the airing cupboard because I couldn't find anything in there
Washed clothes
Washed up

wiltingflower · 18/05/2020 01:53

I knitted my first pair of socks earlier in the day, they're not perfect but they're better than I imagined they would be!

Mintjulia · 18/05/2020 02:00

I’ve weeded a flower bed and painted a door frame. It felt like a lot at the time. Now on the screen, it looks like a wasted day. Sad

Plus a load of washing.

Must clean the bathroom tomorrow.

Aclh13 · 18/05/2020 02:31

I got accepted into my dream Uni after taking 'a gap' year from my current uni feeling like I wasn't in the right place.

GrumpiestOldWoman · 18/05/2020 09:03

I'm at my desk and my goal at the moment is to get to 10.30. Then it'll be to make it to lunch!

Bluewavescrashing · 18/05/2020 09:56

These are all great!

I'm pleased I bothered to empty the dishwasher and wipe the kitchen last night. Usually I leave it til the morning. I woke up feeling like 💩 this morning and it was nice not having to do it! I've made a coffee and toast. Now psyching up to start home school.

I have washed and brushed my hair!

listsandbudgets · 18/05/2020 11:41

Get out of bed.
Drink a cup of tea and make one for dp too
Feed DC some breakfast.
Sweep kitchen and utility room and Hoover sitting room
Strip our bed, make DSs bed and put a wash on
Persuade DS to do his English lesson
Find DDs lost calculator
put bleach in DPs favourite mug as that seems to be the only way I can clean the stains in it
Write this post

Peridot1 · 18/05/2020 12:20

@Mintjulia - that was definitely not a wasted day. I hate weeding with a passion! Well done!

I’m struggling today. My dad is in hospital in Ireland and I’m in the uk. He’s probably having surgery tomorrow to remove what looks like a malignant ulcer and possible part of his stomach. They have also mentioned lymphoma. So hard being so far away. And it’s hard getting all the information. Hoping my sister gets to speak to the consultant today.

So I’m feeling pretty ugh.

I’ve done a load of washing which I’m about to hang up and then put on a load of towels. I also emptied the dishwasher and took the dog for a quick walk. Have a FaceTime counselling session later and then I’m just planning on reading. I should do the bathrooms but can’t be bothered.

ITonyah · 18/05/2020 12:24

I have made a special breakfast for dd1 who's uni exams start online today

Supervised dd3 riding her horse

Sat with dd2 and ordered some embroidery bits for her

Walked the dogs

Read a couple of chapters of my books

Done the crossword (my obsession, get very angsty if I forget to do it)

countingto10 · 18/05/2020 12:41

People are not the only ones not coping with lockdown.

My horse’s behaviour has deteriorated since lockdown and a change of routine on the yard, he is becoming dangerous and a member of staff is refusing to handle him. He reared vertical with me yesterday when I turned him out as I now have to do him myself. My anxiety levels are through the roof and his rearing was a total reflection of me. Numerous things going on at home with teenagers, DH’s business etc, etc.

Anyway Dhorse is going to a new yard tomorrow so today I have turned him out with someone on hand to help if necessary, he was as good as gold and I have sorted out all my stuff at the yard and brought it home to decide what stays and what goes.

Still highly anxious but hopefully by the end of tomorrow, I won’t have to worry about Dhorse.

ITonyah · 18/05/2020 12:53

Hope your dhorse settles soon. He's not a coloured isnhe

countingto10 · 18/05/2020 13:11

No he’s my DH’s completely useless racehorse. He finished his extremely disappointing career last June and I agreed to have him. He needs a good routine and the plan was to bring him back into work at the end of March and then lockdown happened.... So spring grass, no work and massive change of routine on yard, this is the result and I knew it would probably turn out this way. He is now going to a professional yard to be assessed and restarted before the rot really sets in. He is a very sweet boy, not a bad bone in his body so hopefully we will find a new career for him, if not with me, then someone else.

It’s only been since lockdown has been eased that we could really do something as a lot of yards were completely closed and non essential travel forbidden although could probably have claimed a welfare issue.

Anyway fingers crossed he loads well tomorrow🙂

ITonyah · 18/05/2020 13:21

Good luck. I have a couple including dds 15hh event pony who was supposed to be brought back into work this spring but is now fat and feral

countingto10 · 18/05/2020 13:34

Yes, a lot of very fat, feral horses and ponies on current yard. Hopefully things will start to get back to some sort of normality soon🙂

overweightcat · 18/05/2020 13:49

I did an early morning jog. Only 25mins and gasping like I was being strangled throughout but at least it was something Grin

lilgreen · 18/05/2020 13:52

I’ve just set up Zoom???

Costacoffeeplease · 18/05/2020 13:56

I’ve bottle fed 2, 2week old pups 3 times, been to have a 24 hour heart monitor fitted, done a load of washing and made a quiche

IpanemaGallina · 18/05/2020 14:06

Made some cheese scones.
Made bread in the bread maker.
Need to hoover and mop kitchen floor next and check teen dc school work and finish some of my own work.

lucysmam · 18/05/2020 14:22

Today I've supervised dd2's school work, done some washing, fed us all twice and washed the resulting pots, and removed a manky strip of beading off my kitchen worktop.

I'll do a bit more of the beading tomorrow; it's really glued tight & starting to hurt my hands.

I think I'm going to make a coffee then paint the back hallway (tiny so a quick job).

I need to go to the shop but am hoping the girls' dad goes on his way back from work since he's already out.

lucysmam · 18/05/2020 14:26

Oh, and I have dough proving for pizza roll thingys for tea as well.
