What have you achieved today, no matter how small?

Feeling drained, anxious, sad and exhausted today. But so far I have managed to

Get out of bed, feed the children and pets

Have a bath and get the DCs washed and dressed

Put a wash on

Sat outside for a bit having a cuppa and listened to the birds

My mental health is shot to pieces so I'm celebrating the very small wins today.

It’s all a balance @bettertimesarecomingnow!

lucysmam · 17/05/2020 11:43

So far I'm up and dressed and drinking my 3rd cup of coffee. Oh, and I've actually remembered about my contraceptive pill before bed time, which is good!

I'm planning to wash up last night's pots, paint the last bit of skirting and possibly give the spaghetti of pipes into my boiler a lick of paint if my paint's ok for copper pipes.

Probably not much else; we'll see.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 17/05/2020 11:48

Joined in a Zoom church service (and Zoom Sunday school for DD). Otherwise not much, but read the New Scientist properly instead of mooching on here. About to prepare lunch.

Sparklingbrook · 17/05/2020 11:49

Morning all. Still in bed. Is it warm enough to sit outside today. That’s what I fancy doing.
Not aiming high.

lucysmam · 17/05/2020 11:52

@Sparklingbrook it's not very warm here :(

Sparklingbrook · 17/05/2020 11:57

I wondered that @lucysmam. It looks all sunny and warm from indoors but it did yesterday and it was chilly.

CoronaIsShit · 17/05/2020 12:07

Well DS’s hair turned out OK. Really nice to see his cute little face properly again.

I’ve showered, dressed, remembered to brush between teeth with the little brush things I keep buying as I can’t remember where I put them and forget into use them (lots of blood Envy). Dental checkup overdue and will be for a long time I imagine, so need to step up the dental care!
Had breakfast
made beds (of those of us who are up!)
got youngest dressed
sorted clean washing piled up in bedroom
put a wash on
unloaded and reloaded dishwasher
checked seedlings for slug damage Angry
Just raring myself up for my 10km jog/walk. Day off yesterday and it’s harder to get into it after I’ve missed a day. Still, scales say I have finally tipped into ‘overweight’ range rather than obese after over a year of hard work exercise wise so I don’t need anymore motivation to keep it up!

TSSDNCOP · 17/05/2020 12:17

Having team and brunch in the garden. Nice and warm here in the SE.

Awbu · 17/05/2020 12:54

Mainly cleaning and storylines so far.
Now taking kids for a walk and then some crafts later.
We also need to catch up on the school work we didn’t cover this week.

gardenerflowers · 17/05/2020 13:30

Went for a walk to buy some things from a local shop. Cooked lunch and did some gardening.

Later on I will do some ironing and tidy up.

Susiesue61 · 17/05/2020 13:51

I love reading this 😊
I have done 1 hour of ironing and made a curry. Now need to finish the ironing! DD and Ds2 are up and seem quite cheery which is a result 😆
DH has gone out to see Ds1 for a walk and I'm enjoying the quiet, might just chill till he comes back

TwoZeroTwoZero · 17/05/2020 13:55

I got up without complaining

I made sarnies for my dc

I cleaned the kitchen and the upstairs loo

I read a page of my book before being interrupted

willowmelangell · 17/05/2020 14:13

Showered, dressed went and bought milk. Ran the carpet sweeper over the worst of the hay drift from the guinea pig cage. Swept the bathroom but still have not finished the painting.
Dishwasher on. Cats fed. Waiting with some excitement for a food delivery!
@FuckThisWind Top idea re plant holder. Let us know how it does. I am going to use your bargaining idea. I will have to wait until teen dd emerges thoughGrin

Bluewavescrashing · 17/05/2020 15:43

I changed my sheets this morning, showered, then actually went to a supermarket. I've been too anxious to go for a long time but it was actually fine. Picked up a clothing order, some fruit and veg and a takeaway box for dinner.

Then I made a picnic and we drove to the beach. Very windy so we didn't stay ages but so nice to watch the waves.

GrumpiestOldWoman · 17/05/2020 15:53

I made some bread, ate some alot of warm bread (and now feel slightly queasy) and hoovered the stairs.

I also packed away most of my work wardrobe to give me more space for my current more casual attire. Was quite depressing looking at suits and naice cashmere jerseys that I probably won't wear for many more months so I've put them out of sight. I was torn between continuing to wear much it for the sake of 'normality' but I think it would be too hard on it to wear it at home all day.

theseriousmoonlight · 17/05/2020 18:00

I managed to get out for a walk and managed around 4000 steps without needing a toilet break. I was very slow though.
I've done around an hour of work (p/t teacher but can't do the work I need to on my days wfh due to lunatic toddler).
Sorted washing including new baby stuff and reminded DP to get overnight bag down from the loft. I was going to pack today but I think I might go that tomorrow now.
Watched some Great British Menu (I class this as an achievement as we are very far behind).
Made dd's tea.
About to make brews for me and DP

I'll make tea later but I think that's mostly me done for the day unless you count having a bath as an achievement. Mind you, getting out of the bath feekd like one these days.

lilgreen · 17/05/2020 19:10

Planted up a few pots of flowers, dusted and hoovered, walked the dog somewhere further afield for a change, made a tasty curry.

Settle59 · 17/05/2020 19:49

adhereing to strict diet /exercise regime

making important online payment

phoning an elderly person - 83- who was unlikely to receive another personal call today and thanking them for a kind gesture they did 4 years ago

Settle59 · 17/05/2020 19:50

put some cuddly toys in my windows as is the current trend

KateF · 17/05/2020 20:06

Have had a rough week and not achieved very much but today I have
Got up, showered and dressed
Eaten breakfast and remembered to take medication
Washed up and taken rubbish and recycling out
Listened to DD for an hour because she's also having a hard time
Filled the green bin for collection tomorrow
Made a chilli
Read some of my new book

Onwards and upwards!!!

wildthingsinthenight · 17/05/2020 20:15

Thanks for this thread OP. I'm struggling with everything lately.
Better day today though (probably because there was no homeschool battles)
Walked 6.8 kms this morning 11,500 steps.
Not done that for a very long time.
Cleaned and tidied a bit and did some of my jigsaw

Walkingwounded · 17/05/2020 20:29

Yesterday evening I was wondering how long I have to stick it out before the DCs won’t actually miss me too much if I am not there ( decided 10 years or so, when they are adults).

But today I have:
Walked to the coop to buy Sunday papers
Oiled garden furniture
Done my roots, helped by dd

Thankyou op for the reminder to celebrate the small wins.

lucysmam · 17/05/2020 20:47

I'm adding to my list...

Five, yep, FIVE plumbers have diagnosed my leaky bathroom as having NO leak...just magic water coming down the walls & raining on the stairs. The third company even fitted a new bath and re-tiled half of it in the hopes that would sort it.

Nope. Still raining & dribbling water down the walls.

The latest, last Sunday, suggested renewing the seal and bottom two tile rows worth of grout. Which I did. Still dribbling water down the walls.

So, I have just had the bath panel off myself for an investigate. And discovered not one, but TWO leaky pipes coming from my bath tub (they kept the original pipes as far as they could when it was fitted).

So now I know the issue, I'm off to youtube how to replace these pipes myself & ^hopefully' it'll not be leaky any more

(As an aside, I also achieved breaking the washing machine earlier on by moving it :( )

ACauliflowerAndARose · 17/05/2020 21:15

Two things:

Taught my son to make an omelette and scrubbed a garage door which had dirt on it (it came up well so it was extremely satisfying)

Pinkarsedfly · 17/05/2020 21:22

Today I’ve...

Done a writing exercise for my MA.
Made two cottage pies - one meat, one vegan.
Gave my son a haircut.
Had a Houseparty call with my sisters to celebrate one of their birthdays.
