What have you achieved today, no matter how small?

Feeling drained, anxious, sad and exhausted today. But so far I have managed to

Get out of bed, feed the children and pets

Have a bath and get the DCs washed and dressed

Put a wash on

Sat outside for a bit having a cuppa and listened to the birds

My mental health is shot to pieces so I'm celebrating the very small wins today.

I also braved both Home Bargains and Tesco this afternoon so pleased with myself. Finally bought new door mats after nearly killing my washing machine washing the old ones which kept on creasing up after that because the machine ate the rubber backing (that was an absolute bastard to clean out!) and nice ceramic plant pots for my orchids which have been in cardboard containers for a over a month since DH bought them.

Just about to pin youngest DC to a chair in the garden to get rid of his mullet before chucking him in the shower, then will treat myself to some hard earned junk from the tons of stuff that I got from HB. It was a risky mission going in there but well worth it Grin.

Set up a new iPad so we can homeschool tomorrow as our laptop died !

MoneyWhatMoney · 16/05/2020 21:07

Remembered to brush my hair, made soup, went for a walk. Am now forcing myself into the bath.

I've been meaning to paint my nails for ages (weeks) but have yet to get around to it.

cheapskatemum · 16/05/2020 21:09

Dinner for 5: steak (rump steak from Aldi), vegan sausage option for DS3’s gf, chips, baked beans, broccoli, mushroom, grilled tomatoes, fried onions. All cooked to perfection & washed down with Californian Dark Horse wine. I surprised myself!

Dowser · 16/05/2020 22:14

Wiped the leather sofa down with special leather wipes
I did drive to a nice market town about 30 miles away and back
Parts of the drive were just stunning
Especially the view to the Hambleton hills

Dowser · 16/05/2020 22:16

Sunday is the worst day
I so miss going out for Sunday lunch

Peridot1 · 16/05/2020 22:26

You are all doing really well! Really really well. It’s bloody hard. But we are doing it!

Pinkarsedfly · 16/05/2020 22:30

Got up at 5am so I could visit a local beach without bothering anyone.

Potted on some tomatoes, courgettes and broccoli.

Made my own tahini - Sainsbury’s didn’t have any so I bought sesame seeds and did it myself.

Walked 14k steps - I’ve been ill for weeks and lost my fitness (not Covid-related) so this was a good first step towards getting my mojo back.

Made a lovely dinner using a new recipe.

A good day, I think 😊

Doihavetogotoworkdotcom1 · 16/05/2020 22:30

Took the dog to the groomers

Jellykat · 16/05/2020 22:47

I actually made it off the premises AND
had 2 whole conversations with people other then DS (a rarity)

.. but best of all, i made it through the day WITHOUT having an afternoon nap due to sheer pissed offness!

LastInTheQueue · 16/05/2020 22:50

I managed to attend a yoga class on zoom, even though I really didn’t feel like it. I’m feeling incredibly fragile at the moment, and halfway through the class I found myself unable to do something and even became a little teary eyed. I know it’s ridiculous because it’s about going at my pace, but I suddenly felt incredibly stupid and like a big lump. But, I pushed through and finished the session feeling better, if not great.

mogloveseggs · 16/05/2020 22:51

Achieved a bit more tonight
A few games of snap with Ds
Made cookie dough for him and dh
Chatted to a friend for a while on the phone.

lilgreen · 16/05/2020 22:54

Went for a lovely long dog walk with DH to a beautiful reservoir a short drive from home. Made a nice change from 7 weeks of dog walks in the same area.

UniversallyUnchallenged · 16/05/2020 23:00

I love your achievements- they have cheered me up.
Thank you all

whiplashy · 17/05/2020 01:07

I did the dishes and hoovered Smile

Legoandloldolls · 17/05/2020 01:24

I brushed my dd hair ( she hasn't let me in days) and cut her fringe out of her eyes.

I washed the floor. Literally nothing else. I need to start planning my days

Wheresthebiffer2 · 17/05/2020 02:22

One load of washing done, and hung up to dry.
Dishwasher set off.

Actually managed a family meal tonight, at the table!

And...managed to get the teenager to join us to watch a film, together, in the same room.

And walked the dog.

FuckThisWind · 17/05/2020 07:54

Checking in for day 2 as it really made me feel better yesterday celebrating the few things I actually did, rather than berating myself for the hours spent doing sod all. Intending to do some more gardening and cooking / baking. Will report back later.

Thanks for all the lovely comments on my strawberry 'planter' I need ideas to make money as I want to leave my job, so wondering if I could sell planters... 🤔

@Otterses I would love to see a pic of your den!

GrumpiestOldWoman · 17/05/2020 09:34

Thanks for this thread, it's cheering me up!

I've got up, showered and made breakfast. I've read to a DC for 5 minutes, drunk 2 cups of coffee and unloaded the dishwasher. I've spent a few moments silently thanking the dishwasher for all it does and wondered how people cope without one.

theseriousmoonlight · 17/05/2020 09:40

@GrumpiestOldWoman I love my dishwasher too! I filled it and set if off at 6.30am this morning when I made a very early cup of tea. Now I've read this thread, I'm going to get my dd up and embark on a day of lots of little things. I think a walk somewhere is in order but it can't be too long or too far away as I'm 36 weeks pregnant and need the loo approx every 20 minutes.

Peridot1 · 17/05/2020 10:24

Yes this thread made me feel better yesterday too. I’m really missing my cleaner as I hate housework. And I’m not doing as much as I should but just noting yesterday what I did do made me not feel so lazy. And as today is Sunday I can be as lazy as I like!

Have a wash of bedding on and am about to take the dog for a walk.

Sharing the dishwasher love! Don’t know what I’d do without it. Actually I do.............. I remember pre dishwasher days! Lived overseas without one for years.

GrumpiestOldWoman · 17/05/2020 10:31

I've been a bit meh about clap for carers to be honest, however I could really get behind Clap-for-Dishwashers Grin

Xiaoxiong · 17/05/2020 10:41

Had a lie-in finishing Jilly Cooper's Rivals, and downloaded a new book to start (A Theatre for Dreamers by Polly Samson, anyone read it?)
Made sausage sandwiches and coffee
Changed all the passwords on the ipads so the kids can't sneak more screen time
Played Dragonwood card & dice game with the kids over breakfast
Fed my sourdough starter
About to do 30 mins exercise video and then shower
Making a pork roast dinner later with grapes and marsala

Nice to note down what I've already done! Somehow it's motivating to do more. We really need to do some cleaning today too.

bettertimesarecomingnow · 17/05/2020 10:46

Yesterday I worked out, we went to the beach, I cleaned out the fish tank, made two lovely dinners and only had one gin.

Today I am still in bed....
