What have you achieved today, no matter how small?

Feeling drained, anxious, sad and exhausted today. But so far I have managed to

Get out of bed, feed the children and pets

Have a bath and get the DCs washed and dressed

Put a wash on

Sat outside for a bit having a cuppa and listened to the birds

My mental health is shot to pieces so I'm celebrating the very small wins today.

I've drafted MIL's eulogy and read it through a few times. I'm so pleased that's done now.

Still to sort:
Flowers and readings.
Negotiate with the funeral directors. We can't have the cars that are paid for already due to C19, so would like them to chuck in the orders of service and urn instead.
Shoes all round.
Check DH's suit fits.
Tell the family the funeral date.

I'm knackered just thinking about it, I haven't even got dressed yet.

pomegranatefizz · 16/05/2020 14:20

Also struggling a bit today, feel absolutely exhausted for no reason. I've got loads of things I could be doing but instead I'm just zoned out on the sofa, was even considering going to bed but I have:

Got up and got washed and properly dressed
Put make up on
Hung a load of washing out
Walked up to the shop
Made coffee and sat in the garden for a bit
FaceTimed a friend
Made and ate lunch

I think on days like today recognising the little things is so important.

Going to clean the bathroom and then I can have a lovely guilt-free hot bath I think!

MarriedToABellend · 16/05/2020 14:22

Showered and dressed.
Emptied dishwasher and 're loaded it.
Hung some towels on the line.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 16/05/2020 14:24

I made macaroni cheese and have done a small amount of hoovering. I also sent a very difficult email to my boss.

mamakoukla · 16/05/2020 14:28

Laundry on, sitting in a pool of sunshine with a steaming cup of coffee. The kitchen door is open and a delicious light and cool breeze is wafting in and out like waves on a beach

mamakoukla · 16/05/2020 14:28

Obviously there’s some serious catch up to do but hey ho

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 16/05/2020 14:32

Did my job.

Cried.

Came home.

Cried again.

Picked myself up and fed the birds. Also made macaroni cheese.

And having a bit of a ‘not taking any shite’ kind of day because sometimes it helps.

Bluewavescrashing · 16/05/2020 15:01

I'm feeling slightly better now. Wiped down the kitchen, hoovered and mopped the floor. Now watching Normal People.

@AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff sorry you've had a tough time. What's your job (if you want to say?)

Went to get the shopping (click and collect) and wiped down the chilled stuff so it could go away. Then had a cry just before DH went to work. Then played candy crush for a couple of hours Blush then I took one of the dogs for a longish walk on the fields. I'm nearly 31 weeks pregnant and not having a good week this week. I am wearing clothes and not pjs today too though...

1happyhippie · 16/05/2020 15:11

I have done quite a bit today so far.
Scrubbed and cleaned the kitchen, got slightly excited by my shiny sink! 😂
Washing/ ironing done and put away.
Dog walked, dinner planned, FaceTimed my parents.
I am off work until Monday now, and after a particularly hard/sad week I can’t seem to switch off and settle.

weareliverpool90 · 16/05/2020 15:14

My chiropodist reopened on Wednesday and so I went to get my feet sorted this morning. They certainly needed it after all the running and physical activity I have been doing to try keep my sanity.

It was nice to put jeans and a nice top on.

When I got back I did a work out in my room.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 16/05/2020 15:14

Thank you blue

Other things going on bar work (One major thing breaking my heart) but work not helping. I snivelled in private though and shoved on a smile for the benefit of others. We all have our days.

Work take a dim view of forums/social media and I’ve been outed once on here so I will remain vague. Sorry.

Bless ye for being kind enough to notice a nippy old cow in a moment of weakness x

FloggingMoll · 16/05/2020 15:15

@1happyhippie I LOVE my sink when it's freshly scrubbed. Similarly, I love bin collection day. The house feels clean and de-cluttered! albeit briefly

catinb0oots · 16/05/2020 15:17

I've half tidied the kitchen and put the dishwasher on.

That's it, I need to wash my hair but I can't face it - it's so filthy and knotty.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 16/05/2020 15:19

cat

A tangleteezer brush is your best friend. No tears. No fuss. Tis a magic thing. Wink

catinb0oots · 16/05/2020 15:21

Ah yes DS has one! I'm going to sit in the bath and plop a whole bottle of conditioner on my head!

Peridot1 · 16/05/2020 15:23

Well done to all of you. It’s really hard to get motivated sometimes and this is definitely one of those times.

Flowers and Brew and Cake all round I think!

I’ve now cleaned the kitchen, sorted out some recycling, ran the vacuum cleaner around and semi sorted a few bits in the utility room. Off up to make up my bed and that’s me done. Oh and I cleaned out the lint filter in the dryer! Yay me!

AllianceOfCorcles · 16/05/2020 15:23

Well done to you all trying to motivate yourselves through this time.
It’s my day off today and Dh working but I’m trying to catch up with cleaning and laundry.
I’ve taken the kids out for a walk and managed to get dd to tidy her room.
Going to do some painting now and hopefully time in garden.
I’ve also managed to rewatch the whole of lost in Austen as I was up at ten to six with ds ☺️
This is a very productive day for me atm!

mogloveseggs · 16/05/2020 15:24

FlowersCake for all.
I've fed everyone so far today. That's it. Just cried for a good half hour. Not sure what to do now.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 16/05/2020 15:24

It has rescued my locks from the scissors on more than one occasion. And a back comb incident that left me with a wallop instead of a swish!

Go get swishing Smile

Chocolatear · 16/05/2020 15:25

Got up, cooked breakfast for 3.
Went to the garden centre bought some plants. Came home repotted the plants and did some weeding.
Cleaned the hob, pegged out the washing.
Feel quite smug today!

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 16/05/2020 15:25

To all those who have managed a productive day? I’m in awe Flowers

Tomorrow. That’ll be me tomorrow Smile

GrumpiestOldWoman · 16/05/2020 15:28

Got up, had a shower, dried my hair and put on naice face cream.

Made breakfast (though couldn't face eating any myself), hoovered 1 room and watered garden pots. Cleaned inside of windows in one room. Dusted a coffee table. Made a tray bake. Emptied dishwasher.

It doesn't feel like a lot and I feel as though I've just lounged about all day but seeing it written down has cheered me up a bit.

happypotamus · 16/05/2020 15:30

Awaiting final confirmation, but probably helped my daughter win 'tallest space rocket' junk modelling competition. Even if we didn't win, I still managed to help my children build a very tall rocket out of recycling without shouting at anyone. (it's part of the online Guide camp my Guide unit is doing, my own DC are not old enough for Guides but are joining in).
Also, got up and dressed and cooked a breakfast including bacon and eggy bread (because that's the kind of breakfast you have on Guide camp) after minimal sleep. Didn't cry at lunch time when I discovered DH had used almost all the bread this morning and then gone out. Taught my 9yr old how to use the oven, washed up because the dishwasher didn't bother again.
