I think I finished the last thread by accident...

Zoidberg that made me laugh! You should send them to your enemies like tiny cross-stitched Trojan horses Grin

Springersrock · 12/05/2020 13:17

Re Boris’s hair - DH and I both commented on it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it so tidy. It reminded me of some of my male friends who have had a go at cutting their own hair

My Dad has managed to shave off one of his own eyebrows while trying to prune them a bit

Lilac I wouldn’t travel for exercise on public transport. If it’s an essential journey you can use public transport though. Is it essential you travel for exercise?

Just been for lovely calming walk while playing Anti-Dementor Playlist: Gives You Hell by the All-American Rejects, with a chaser of Taylor Swift and You Need To Calm Down.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 12/05/2020 13:19

Great news about the furlough payments.

HauntedGoatFart · 12/05/2020 13:20

And yes I'm a cyclist who often makes it my daily exercise. I've stopped cycling on our canal towpath though as it's very narrow in places. I am hoping that one bright side of this will be a real increase in cycling and infrastructure.

Cattermole · 12/05/2020 13:20

I'm spitting mad presently at the absolute despair and distress of a work colleague who is a single mum with two boys at primary school, she heard the Sunday brief and yesterday she was so crushed she couldn't even bear to come to work, she just stuck her head under the duvet. Two boys and a mum who haven't left the house, who haven't seen another human being IRL for 8 weeks. Boys are spending all their time on their consoles. She was so very sad. She feels like a dreadful mum and she's got no help at all, and it feels like it will never get any better.
Fuck it, we're lending her our car, DH will have to do the shopping in the camper van. SEE me the murderer enabler!!!

OutwardBound2016 · 12/05/2020 13:22

Teacup, agree, saw a secondary school teacher put up some ridiculous analogy about Covid and sweets referencing the 3% figure, I genuinely hope all these teachers do leave the profession and leave those who are committed and understand percentages!

SomewhereEast · 12/05/2020 13:23

I've written to my (shite) MP raising my concerns about the neglect of children & young people's well-being. I know it often feels pointless, but if there's one thing years of political nerdery has taught me, its that politicians listen to whichever group of people shout the loudest. Depressing I know....

RumbaswithPumbaas · 12/05/2020 13:25

Hi Sagittarius,

I know what you mean, I feel like I have a thin veneer of calm and jolly patience but I struggle to sleep and some grumpy things a neighbour said to me upset me for days. I think people are frightened, but they’re also bad tempered/irritable and it’s not fair to take it out on other people. People spend so much time at home staying safe they start to think they’re more special than everyone else, they read all the dementoring in the press and on SM and start to see other people like walking uranium. I find if I can reduce it to them just being bad tempered and ill-informed it helps.

SummerHouse · 12/05/2020 13:25

@thesun people are scared. They are also arseholes. Can you try something different like yoga with Adrienne or pocket yoga app? Failing that dress up as ghost and own those streets. Anyone shouts at you, say trick? Or treat? In a menacing and sinister way. And no need to apologise. It's all shit and so are people. I have the rage at freezer rummage rude women. I would have been tempted to shove her in.

SomewhereEast · 12/05/2020 13:25

Cattermole Lending her a car is a brilliant thing to do & very kind. I have two primary school aged boys, one of whom could euphemistically be described as 'energetic', and I have no idea how I'd cope without DH being at home too.

MorrisZapp · 12/05/2020 13:29

Tbf I did tut at cherry counting man. He picked up EVERY SINGLE packet of cherries in Morrisons and compared each to the packet he held in his other hand. When he found they had fewer cherries, he flung it down in disgust and grabbed another one. It went on for a few minutes before I asked if I could just grab some raspberries.

Both he and I are unlikely to see out the week.

justasking111 · 12/05/2020 13:30

Great news for furlough payments if you are furloughed. OH self employed, ditto DS1 and wife. ditto DS2 and wife. DS3 works in a pub/restaurant zero hours. So not everyone is furloughed.

Aint hindsight a wonderful thing.

Mascotte · 12/05/2020 13:30

Now they want us to put a fucking lamp in our fucking windows tonight for nurses's day - I am just so fucking sick of all this!

And I'll have to creep round in the dark 😂

OP posts:
RumbaswithPumbaas · 12/05/2020 13:30

You should have said, “are you going to buy those now you’ve touched them all?” Grin

justasking111 · 12/05/2020 13:33

Oh my god @MorrisZapp I had a guy like that in Tesco he had one of those self scanners, I was 2 metres behind him so many times, meat, veg. picked up and discarded all over the show. I nearly let fly.

MorrisZapp · 12/05/2020 13:33

Hang on, I'll just dust off this oil lamp I keep in the airing cupboard beside the mournful trumpet.

thesuninsagittarius · 12/05/2020 13:33

@RumbaswithPumbaas @SummerHouse thank you for understanding. I feel like the poor relation on here sometimes; I don't have a garden or a car or a partner and it's been a struggle coping on my own.
I like the idea of dressing up as a ghost, I thought I might get one of those plague doctor outfits...
Freezer woman was a stupid cow. There was loads of room, only four customers in the whole shop, she was stood there, wearing a very manky looking pair of single-use gloves and screeching 'two meters apart! Two meters apart!' like a parrot. I offered to explain how viral droplet dispersion works but she didn't want to hear it. Apparently everyone is dead/dying because I wanted frozen mushrooms...

justasking111 · 12/05/2020 13:34

tonight but its Tuesday fhs.

bookworm14 · 12/05/2020 13:34

So it looks like the unions are determined to scupper any return to school in June.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-52633150

Note their response. Not ‘this will be tricky, but let’s see how we can make it work’. Just ‘it’s not feasible’. I just know the government will roll over and my daughter will receive no proper education or socialisation until fucking September. I had dared to feel slightly positive after the June announcement. Don’t know why I fucking bothered.

justasking111 · 12/05/2020 13:36

My grandsons teacher set up an instagram video account to speak to children 4 and 5 years. My grandson watched it then became so distressed missing her and friends DIL decided to bin that idea.

Drivingdownthe101 · 12/05/2020 13:37

It’s so bloody frustrating bookworm14. Our head (she’s fab) emailed this morning (I’m Chair of Governors) saying ‘great news, we get to go back!’. She has outline initial plans, said it will be a challenge to implement but she’s confident we can come up with a solution. So who are all these heads just giving a blanket ‘it’s unworkable’?

justasking111 · 12/05/2020 13:37

Try living in union led Wales we will be lucky to see teachers this side of xmas.

LilacTree1 · 12/05/2020 13:37

Springers I’m only interested in whether or not it’s an offence and I can get fined.

Deliberately vague by the government there. There’s a a very good separate thread on this now.

Bad news on furlough - they don’t plan to reopen anything in
July.

I wouldn’t know about the light in the window crap without MN. Who are the people thinking of these things?!

LilacTree1 · 12/05/2020 13:38

just I’m so sorry to hear that about your DD.
