Do you have any landmarks you look out for so you know you are near home?

As kids when the power satiation’s and the pit came into view we always knew we were nearly home. Now it’s when we can see the ‘golf ball’, which is a radar station but from a distance looks like a giant golf ball, you can see it from miles away.

The "nearly home church" is clearly a popular landmark! A much prettier one than the strange structure at Forton services (now known as Lancaster services for some reason...)

Emley moor mast for me too, an going up their tomorrow to the bottle bank at three acres.

Brigante...I always looked out for the power station towers when my daughter was at Nottingham University.!

Now house - driving - coming past Lidl and we're 20 mins from home.

Now house - train - where the track bears left, time to pick up the bags!

The best I can offer is when we go down to single carriageway road after motorway and dual carriageway!

The Ark at Hammersmith viewed from the flyover is my personal talisman of arriving back in London when returning from the West.

Another one for Radcliffe on soar power station. Or the Severn Trent works near long Eaton on the Northbound stretch if the M1

It used to be the Didcot cooling towers. The last three came down fairly recently and the next time I was driving home I missed my junction. I’ve done that drive at least 3 times a month for 22 years but was lost without my landmark.

I think my new one is the strange pill box/gun emplacement thing on the A34 as I wonder what it was every time I drive past.

One of our children used to always shout, “I can see our feedrail” when she spotted the spire across the rooftops.

it used to be the model cows on the Hanwell dairy but they've sadly gone

There are 2 speed cameras on the a43 hidden over the brows of hills and I go by those! Very carefully i must add!

It is sad when the ‘home’ landmarks go, especially the ones from childhood.
