Crap Films that you love

Ive just spent the last hour on Youtube watching songs from Grease 2, which was my favourite film when I was about 10 and which I watched over and over again. I still remember all of the words Blush. I admit its appalling, but I love it, its like crack to me and if I had to be brually honest I prefer it over the original Grease (which I also love, but its not considered crap is it).

I also love Holiday on The Buses. Which is sexist rubbish obviously but always makes me laugh hysterically. So awful its good and it was filmed in Prestatyn!

Others I love are Supergirl the 1984 version, the 2004 version of Phantom of the Opera and Rocky 4. They are s cheesy and bad that they are brilliant.

What crap films do you love?

Coneheads - cheesy Dan Akroyd, funny aliens living on earth film, amazing.

City of Angels - schmaltzy Nicholas Cage / Meg Ryan, angel falls in love with mortal, it's like eating a while box of chocolates in one go. Fabulous.

MrsPear · 08/05/2020 16:23

The last stand - on Netflix

H and I both agreed it was so crap it was good 🤣

BalloonSlayer · 08/05/2020 16:45

Also love Carry On films.

I put Carry on Screaming on the other day while DS2 (12)was there.

He was bemused.

He did laugh out loud once though. At:

"She's as hard as a rock!"

"You don't have to tell me - I've been married to her for fifteen years!"

Grin

I still laugh at the potty under the bed that they keep kicking and it goes ding.

Sigh at being less sophisticated than a fart obsessed 12 year old.

Mrsjayy · 08/05/2020 19:39

I like carry on films i know they are not "pc" but Grin

Chillipeanuts · 08/05/2020 20:23

MrsJayy

Batman and Robin is my favourite you can keep your "Dark knight"

The original one, where Batman fights a rubber shark, dangling from a rope from a helicopter and everything is labelled, “bat phone” “bat computer”, etc.?
Forgotten all about that I’ve. Agreed, it was hilariously badly good.

The80sweregreat · 09/05/2020 12:22

I love Muriel's wedding so much!
The people are mostly horrible but the music is fab and the ending is sublime and sad in equal measure. It is a classic. It should be ok tv every day.

woodhill · 09/05/2020 13:10

I like Muriel's wedding

I really like National Lampoon Animal house
With John Belushi, Kevin Bacon, Karen Allen made 1978

Graphista · 09/05/2020 22:56

Nearly all my favourites are “crap films” according to just about everyone else!

Top gun
Cocktail
Dirty dancing
Pretty woman

But the truly dire ones include
Con air
The rock

Rock of ages (totally cheesy but great fun and great to singalong to)

Passenger 57 - quite possibly the WORST most cliched script ever to actually get made and distributed! Dreadful acting too, Wesley snipes is completely wooden, as is liz Hurley don’t even get me started on whoever it is plays the flight attendant “love interest”...frankly I’m amazed she got ANY work after this mess! Bruce Payne rescues it to be honest playing a stereotypical psychopathic Brit but he totally commits.

I LOVE the rocky franchise but yea there’s some shockers in there! Loving Creed though

“Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. I know it off by heart.”
I saw this opening weekend at the cinema, no internet then so no spoilers - audible gasp throughout the audience when Sean Connery appeared. Totally unexpected. I’ve been a little in love with Mary Elizabeth mastrontonio since The Abyss anyway - which I maintain has the best true love scene in any film ever! When Virgil is resuscitating her, refusing to let her dare die on him.

I also love bond films, and yes like pp I know they’re silly, sexist nonsense but I still love em

“Practical magic” I just discovered is currently available to buy on prime - I am absolutely buying it!

“Legally blonde” Yep!

Kindergarten cop - I LOVE Penelope Ann Miller ever since adventures in babysitting - another nomination - but really all the women in this film are fabulous. Must admit I love “junior” too which is complete and utter nonsense!

Bring it on I loved I’ve not seen the sequels though, I was seriously impressed with the gymnastics.

“Under siege” Yep and 2 as well! Great fun.

Several mentioned that I would definitely not class as “bad” films! Goonies? Gremlins? Muriel’s wedding? They’re classics!

“Armageddon” Yep and not ashamed to admit I cry when Bruce takes on the suicide mission

“Day after tomorrow” Yep

Carry on films - Yep total 70’s politically incorrect nonsense but thoroughly enjoyable

Highlander - a Scot playing an Egyptian with a Spanish name in a broad burgh accent 😂

“Some Kind Of Wonderful”
Also NOT a bad film a total classic

“The Karate Kid (original and remake)” I’ve never “met” anyone else who likes the remake, I thought it was very good. LOVE Taraji p Henson anyway (completely Broke my heart in person of interest) so much so that I actually want to see “what men want” but I thought Jackie chan played it very moving too and Jaden Smith.

Volcano - I appear to be a huge tommy lee jones fan, of course he’s in under siege but also double jeopardy, the fugitive, men in black (love those!), the eyes of Laura mars (very old Faye dunaway vehicle) - you want cheesy predictable but very watchable action flick? He’s your man

“The Bodyguard” oh yes!

“The Family Stone” - fabulous film! I totally fall for the schmaltz

@darkdarknight - you may also like failure to launch if you haven’t already seen?

Just added 1st 3 Jurassic park movies to prime watchlist, watching first one now - originally saw at the cinema, the effects at the time were stunning!

“Deck the Halls” LOVE this - dd and I watch this and elf every year

“Ferris bueller” NOPE! That’s a classic!

“An officer and a gentleman” NO WAY! Also a classic, the scene where the drill sergeant finally breaks him - actually getting to the heart of why he’s there “I got nowhere else to go” and then being able to build him up into ‘an officer and a gentleman’

“Oh and one fine day” gorgeous film!

I know the scream movies so well by now I not only know the script I can fall asleep to them!
