Will you go out when lockdown is eased?

so say when coffee shops and restaurants are allowed to reopen, will you be going? I can’t see myself being comfortable going out to eat for quite some time

Shielding so no. The most I will do when I can is back to work and that's it, will shop online still and no socialising

Bagelsandbrie · 04/05/2020 15:57

I’m surprised so many here are so keen to rush out and do things like get a hair cut etc. I’m very nervous and think there will be a big second wave so I guess I will nervously wait and see what happens - almost like everyone else are guinea pigs! Blush

TinRoofRusty · 04/05/2020 16:00

I don't consider myself a guinea pig Hmm. I don't want to live locked up and it's not affordable. Plenty of people have had the virus and never knew it and plenty get it and are asymptomatic.

Eskarina1 · 04/05/2020 16:05

I don't go to pubs/restaurants to sit in a 2 metre wide empty space. I can't see it being worth the risk. More likely to go to friends houses / meet outdoors

copycopypaste · 04/05/2020 16:05

You can't really start people back to work without the kids going back to school imo. So I reckon the schools will reopen after the May half term holidays. This will enable people who can't work from home to go back to work. It's be all based around social distancing tho. PPE equipment etc.

Those who can will be expected to continue to wooed from home.

Can't see restaurants, cafes, pubs, cinemas etc being opened up anytime soon

IvinghoeBeacon · 04/05/2020 16:10

What’s with the term “rushing out”?!

I assume people will just be going to places that are open and observing usual hygiene practices. No rushing in evidence

fourpeasinapod · 04/05/2020 16:13

This is so weird. Who ever imagined something like this would ever happen? I’m definitely going to be appreciating things way more.

Does anyone think we will see “normal” again? Will life go back to the way it was before covid 19 existed?

I know I’m uneducated, but there are billions of other viruses on this earth, so how can we just stay locked away because of one?

JoeExoticsEyebrowRing · 04/05/2020 16:14

Yes, I can't fucking wait!

lubeybooby · 04/05/2020 16:16

No, we'll be waiting til the delirium of it easing has eased off

I will have my DD to visit though

TheCountessatHotelCortez · 04/05/2020 16:17

@LaureBerthaud I’ll be right behind you 😂

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 04/05/2020 16:18

For those nervous about a " second wave" , it's very, very likely there will be one , and after that regular resurgence- similar to the waves of chicken pox or flu each year.
I most definitely do not want to isolate myself for years while this plays out , therefore I will be getting back to ss normal as I can , as soon as I can .

AnnaNimmity · 04/05/2020 16:18

depends when they do it. If it's in the next week or 2 I think that will be too soon. But yes come June - straight to the hairdressers and the beauty salon. And the pub!

fourpeasinapod · 04/05/2020 16:19

I really hope that the hairdressers are open in June! My head is an absolute mess @AnnaNimmity

It's because this one is a novel virus, never been encountered by humans before, so we have no immunity to it and due to its nature of transmission plus the zero immunity, its incredibly contagious. On top of that, it can be dangerous under certain circumstances
Other viruses have already been encountered by humans and humans have begun to build up immunity to some strains or are transmitted in such a way that they are not that contagious (HIV for example).

We have been overdue a global pandemic for a while now I think!

YouAreMySunshinee · 04/05/2020 16:19

Absolutely, I can't wait.
I thought I would be the only one to
Say yes but reading through this post looks like a lot will be

redeyetonowheregood · 04/05/2020 16:20

I think the poster above may be right. Those of us who have carried on coming out to work and who's children and carried on going to school may have a different take on things? My life has carried on fairly normally, just with a lot more pressure! I have had none of the free time etc and working in a hospital and in research I am comfortable with risk. I and my immediate family are low risk. We will probably catch it. We will probably be ok. There may never be a vaccine. People stays mg inside until there is may have to re-evaluate that strategy 🙁

JoeExoticsEyebrowRing · 04/05/2020 16:20

Dreaming of sitting in our local pub garden with a cold bottle of Corona!

Thelnebriati · 04/05/2020 16:21

I'm in the vulnerable group so no, I wont live 'normally' until I know I'm immune or vaccinated. If I'm given the choice, I'm going to see if there's a second and third wave of infections.

blue25 · 04/05/2020 16:25

No, I’ll be doing what I can to avoid getting this disease. I know someone who died and it was a horrendous death.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 04/05/2020 16:28

@Bagelsandbrie I'm not a guinea pig, I just don't want to live like this any more. It's about risk assessment for me. As a healthy 29 year old the odds of me becoming very ill or dying from the virus are low and I'm not prepared to put my life on hold indefinitely until the virus is eradicated, which might never happen.

DecadentDeity · 04/05/2020 16:29

Absolutely!

Gallacia · 04/05/2020 16:30

I will see my mum, and then probably avoid going out unless completely necessary. Though I will be starting work after mat leave so I'll be leaving the house more than I am now

IvinghoeBeacon · 04/05/2020 16:39

Yep I’m also expecting more “waves”/ peaks whatever you want to call them. If you have a lockdown, you are creating a second wave. You can try and make sure it doesn’t create too high a spike through the way you ease restrictions, but a second wave is inevitable if more contact happens between people. That is my expectation as someone who wants to see restrictions progressively eased and does not want prolonged lockdown

Bloomburger · 04/05/2020 16:43

Not until DS is free to go out and about, we won't go to coffee shops or restaurants, public places, he's on the highly vulnerable list and has 6 weeks left.

We've been cycling with DD and DH is a key worker and has been going into London but he hasn't been using public transport.

I'm going to a private doctors appointment tomorrow but that's about it.

itsniceoopnorth · 04/05/2020 16:53

Yes
Yes
And then yes some more
