I didn't realise she was due already. Baby boy born this morning!

but happy on other threads for people to say that it is fine to let old people in care homes die Who has said this Shock

MrsMeg1 · 29/04/2020 12:37

I lost respect for Boris when I heard he called the children of unmarried mothers "ill raised, ignorant, aggressive and illegitimate"

I know he made these comments before he was in politics, but still hypocrite comes to mind and thought it was interesting their engagement was announced at the same time as the pregnancy.

I do however wish them all the best with their new baby.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 29/04/2020 12:38

Of course a new baby is a joy! But that doesn't mean we have to like the father

Nobody's suggesting it does, and FWIW I'm no Boris fan either
But it's the hypocrisy which bothers me - the way the mantra of "we're here to support all parents" is trotted out only for a preferred few

MeganBacon · 29/04/2020 12:38

I don't care that he had affairs. Not the slightest flicker of interest. Plenty of excellent leaders were undisciplined in this respect. I get that his wives and current partner may care, but they seem to be educated, independent women with their heads screwed on so are likely to know the score and for all we know, may have factored into their decision to have his children a consideration of how they will raise the kids themselves if they have to. You can't tell me that most sensible mums-to-be don't secretly weigh that one up.

HebeMumsnet · 29/04/2020 12:38

Afternoon, everyone. We've had to delete a few posts here as personal attacks and for breaking our talk guidelines in other ways, so this is just a reminder of those guidelines. If we have to make too many deletions, we may have to take the whole thread down.

Janaih · 29/04/2020 12:42

Congratulations and good luck to Carrie, she'll fucking need it.

EvilPea · 29/04/2020 12:43

Everyone I know who have knowingly had cv have been utterly fucked for weeks after. I can’t see him being able to be PM or a doting dad (insert raised cynical eyebrow here).

BuddleiaTime · 29/04/2020 12:44

Deleted for calling him exactly what he is?

Get a grip MNHQ.

AnneOfCloves · 29/04/2020 12:45

I wouldn't piss on him if he were on fire.

Feel sorry for her, if the baby is as preemie as dates would suggest, and hope her baby does well.

If he's not preemie, well, that's just some more shit Boris lied about, isn't it. He's taken no interest in his existing kids, can't imagine this will be any different once the baby's arrival stops being a useful distraction from government incompetence. Poor little thing.

Alsohuman · 29/04/2020 12:46

You didn’t need to delete the post insulting me @HebeMumsnet, I wasn’t remotely bothered by it.

PenelopePitstopping · 29/04/2020 12:47

He can't even use a condom properly yet we are supposed to let him run the country. @BuddleiaTime Pretty sexist remark- women can't control their own fertility or use contraception?

Pemba · 29/04/2020 12:49

Agree with Anne. Poor baby.

Katinski · 29/04/2020 12:53

Well, I can't wait for the next Private Eye issueGrin

tealady · 29/04/2020 12:53

The person I feel sorry for in this sage is the little girl who will grow up knowing that her father denied he was her father and fought a court battle to prevent people finding out he was.

According to press reports it was her mother that fought to keep her identity secret? I have not seen any evidence that Boris has denied being her father? Presumably her mother took this action to protect her from media interest but either way I certainly agree it is sad for the girl involved.

Mostly I prefer to reserve judgement until I have the full facts and the only thing I am certain of here is that Boris and Carrie have just had a baby, under difficult circumstances and that is something positive.

He does have a rather dubious history relationship wise, but that is not the same thing as being a bad father.

gnushoes · 29/04/2020 12:54

Might have fudged the date because the happy father was, er, married to someone else.

diddl · 29/04/2020 12:54

I don't really give a shit that the date was lied about-& that's not just down to him, is it?

"Early Summer"-well it's nearly may so...

If he is prem though, hope all goes OK.

thegcatsmother · 29/04/2020 12:54

We are in a national emergency, the likes we haven't had for over 100 years, 1000s of families have lost loved ones. No grasp of history there; 1939-45 ring any bells?

JudyCoolibar · 29/04/2020 12:54

What a horrendous time they have had.

I think there are 33,000+ dead people and their families who may have been having a rather more horrendous time. And rather too many of those - especially the NHS employees and care workers who caught Covid though lack of adequate PPE - can lay the blame directly at the door of Johnson's government.

CendrillonSings · 29/04/2020 12:56

No, I won't be doing any stewing thanks as I have a great life, family, friends, hobbies and successful business. But I just say what I see - the PM isn't a decent man and the Tories have done a shit job at handling this crisis. How the good people of the UK or anywhere else do or do not vote doesn't change that.

Glad to hear it. The converse is also true: all the bad stuff you have to say about him doesn’t change the fact that the British public elected him in a landslide and still support him massively.

Which, when you come to think about it, is a teeny bit more important Wink

Womenwotlunch · 29/04/2020 12:57

Can’t wait until Boris Johnson comes face to face with Keir Starmer. Johnson’s ineptitude will be even more evident.

Roussette · 29/04/2020 12:59

We don't know whether the British public still support him massively, do we? It's only a GE that tells us that. And after the way the Government has handled this awful pandemic, I am really not sure the support will still be massive

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 29/04/2020 13:00

He would do absolutely ANYTHING to get out of PMQ Grin

BuddleiaTime · 29/04/2020 13:02

@PenelopePitstopping

@BuddleiaTime Pretty sexist remark- women can't control their own fertility or use contraception?

Some women think having a child will "win" the prize. So they were in control, as it happens.

CallmeAngelina · 29/04/2020 13:02

I don't think he was ever as ill as was claimed.

I wonder if the poster who said this has any IDEA of what that says about them as a person. I'll start off with mean-spirited, toxic, vile, dim, and not to mention fucking ridiculous.

MarieQueenofScots · 29/04/2020 13:03

There's an alarming subsect on both sides of the electorate who put colour of allegiance above character and morals.
