Sorry, Neouf, you haven't heard all they have said. There has been a lot of explaining.

What you want is examples, like Sturgeon and her classrooms will have to be reorganised. And that is just social distancing in one of the many squillions of settings we live in daily.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 27/04/2020 10:58

Oh! Did those warnings give a date?

Ulver · 27/04/2020 10:59

Oh yes all of the specific warnings about this exact scenario that the govt chose to ignore completely while inserting “unexpected “ and “unprecedented” into every press conference. Lies.

Interested in this thread?

Then you might like threads about this subject:

Excellent speech

Oh come on, you might be Tory through and through but you can't possibly dispassionately say that was an excellent speech.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 27/04/2020 11:01

If the thread is going all tin foil hat I'm out!

Ulver · 27/04/2020 11:01

There was operation Cygnus in 2016 running a pandemic simulation and a detailed govt report in 2019 warning of the “imminent threat”. Level One threat bigger than terrorism.
Which gave detailed pandemic preparation advice which the govt ignored completely.

circusintown · 27/04/2020 11:10

"No it hasn't. They haven't said what lifting it might look like just that some social distancing will remain"

They have. They are talking about it all of the time. They don't know exactly how we are going to go. You don't urgently need to know which year group might go back first.

chomalungma · 27/04/2020 11:13

He will have a lot of difficult questions to answer.

I bet he doesn't go on GMB like his Ministers have.

SouthWestmom · 27/04/2020 11:14

I've listened to every conference so far. Nothing specific or outlined just too soon, social distancing blah blah.

And don't tell me what I do or don't need to know.

I have seen a few threads on here asking where he is. He appears and now that’s wrong.

Exactly. Can’t win either way.

ssd · 27/04/2020 11:17

I'm just amazed people on here actually believe he'll make any difference

He nearly died of it due to his own and his governments utter incompetence

CuriousaboutSamphire · 27/04/2020 11:18

Neouf, seriously, that is all the Scottish document includes. There is no more detail. It's just called a plan.

Semantics.

Social distancing IS the plan. Details to follow once more reliable data has been analysed.

That's it!

chomalungma · 27/04/2020 11:19

I think that his experience will have made him much more cautious.

I don't know if that's a good thing or not.

saints11 · 27/04/2020 11:20

MonkeyToesOfDoom

Well put. I would add some decisions on what will not re-open for a longer period of time (large gatherings for example).

ssd · 27/04/2020 11:21

More cautious, are you kidding?

Do you even realise how badly this has been handled by his government??

Caution was thrown to the wind long ago.

chomalungma · 27/04/2020 11:24

More cautious, are you kidding

More cautious in response to how long the lockdown will go on for compared to what he may have been thinking before this process.

Somanysocks · 27/04/2020 11:25

He could find the cure for cancer and people on here would still find something to criticise him for.

TheClitterati · 27/04/2020 11:30

We've got on pretty well for weeks without him. I think he's shown us just how irrelevant his pomp & populous posturing is.

In Boris's words, this is the biggest peacetime challenge we've faced. Yet we did much better without him that with him when he was determined we could avoid restrictions, remain open and profit while other countries were locked down to protect their population & health services. While our PM was focued on this thinking everything detiotated around us - as pretty much everyone else could see that it was. The man has no vision beyond that that serves his own interest. I can't wait until he is no longer PM.

circusintown · 27/04/2020 11:59

@CuriousaboutSamphire exactly. They've shared the current plan. Every single day.

chomalungma · 27/04/2020 12:01

Social distancing, track and trace

I hope they get the track and trace right - especially the testing aspect of that.

It would get really annoying if you are told to self isolate for 14 days if you come into contact with a known case and they don't bother to test you. Because you could come into contact again with someone else after your self isolation

SouthWestmom · 27/04/2020 12:04

It's fine he appeared but why not say he's back and will be meeting whoever today and the next corona update will be at 5pm as planned. Then he satisfies the we've seen him test and doesn't just add to the sea of waffle

OP posts:
BiggerBoat1 · 27/04/2020 12:06

Oh God, he's back then. Bloody clown.

Ulver · 27/04/2020 12:07

I think we should start a bingo game to see how many of Corbyn’s policies will now be repackaged and introduced.
Such as a 4 day week. Or alternate car numberplate days to restrict traffic.
Things cant go back to the pace they were any time soon.

Ulver · 27/04/2020 12:10

Boris will be feeling very self important and pleased with himself and will be focused on inflating his ego through talking to his international allies like Trump. And planning his glorious new technology fuelled AI capitalism that he was so keen on around election time. Get ready for a Chinese/ Saudi style “smart city” plan. He loves this kind of thing.

The80sweregreat · 27/04/2020 12:11

I heard it as a warning to the people wanting a quick fix. Believe me , I've never voted Tory and their handling of this has been hit and miss , but I think he was saying ' back off , we're doing this our way and following the science' : I bet the big businesses have been lobbying for the end of lockdown much sooner! A few have re opened up already. That Must be part of the plan.
I hope there will be more clarity but I'm sure it will come in time.
I'm not sure what else people wanted him to say today?
We are going to have to live with the threat of this virus for a year and a bit at least : they just dont want to tell us!
