I don’t want him to say yay all go out because you’re bored. I’m not. I wanted clarification on what we’re going for ppe, yes the rules spelling out again so the street parties end, the truth about the antibody test. Something informative not just a well done carry on.

SouthWestmom · 27/04/2020 09:52

Well they should have a good idea of steps and levels. They need to be in front of the public not behind them. We already have people at the beach, two huge funerals going ahead, and the economy dying.

GulliBelle · 27/04/2020 09:55

Samantha was furious about everything, but yes the main focus was on planes and people not being locked up in some undefined location.

Jesus wept.

They've told us that the next review will be 3 weeks after the last one.

It's been a week. Tune in in two weeks time

StripeyLurcher · 27/04/2020 09:58

I know he didn't clarify the exit plan but what he did say was lockdown continues as it is, no changes for now which is pretty clear. People have been talking about easing off and that is not happening right away.

Pavlova31 · 27/04/2020 10:06

Cleverly worded waffle.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 27/04/2020 10:06

Clear steps, dates?

Have you read the Scottish plan? It's basically what Chris Whitty etc have been saying for weeks, but written down. No steps, no dates, no detail. Just nice bold titles and then everything we already know.

We don't know. They don't know BUT as we have been told, ad fucking nauseum, they are monitoring many many strands of data all of which have to be balanced to get the best outcome. Remember also that we have been told that best for one strand will, of necessity, not be the best for others.

That's what they are all juggling. What to support at the detriment of something else.

It isn't nice, it is necessary. And it changes every day.

Armchairs experts and doom mongerers need to take a moment to ponder the reality of that!

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 27/04/2020 10:20

They don't know

So why did Boris bother with his waffle then?

People want information, he used lots of words to say what?
Nothing that couldn't have been said in the daily briefing.

Sparklingbrook · 27/04/2020 10:23

I just saw it as a ‘Hi I’m back’ message. Updates are every afternoon aren’t they? I wasn’t expecting anything.

DodgyTrousers · 27/04/2020 10:24

Excellent speech.

Glad to see you back Boris

CuriousaboutSamphire · 27/04/2020 10:25

Why did he bother? Because he's the prime minister and if he hadn't bothered there would be people whinging he was still hiding....

DodgyTrousers · 27/04/2020 10:26

MrsTwiddle

This is a predominately 99% left wing site, always has been.

They hate the Tories on here.

Btw... I always wear my hard hat because I am one of the very few Tories who happen to be on here!! 😂😂😂

Sparklingbrook · 27/04/2020 10:27

I have seen a few threads on here asking where he is. He appears and now that’s wrong.

CendrillonSings · 27/04/2020 10:28

Why did he bother? Because he's the prime minister and if he hadn't bothered there would be people whinging he was still hiding....

Got it in one. Pointless, hypocritical whinges about Boris are the equivalent of daily exercise for some people...

RingtheBells · 27/04/2020 10:34

I also thought it was just to say hi, I'm back, at least he didn't look like he had seen an hairdresser recently, some of them on the daily briefing look just trimmed.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 27/04/2020 10:37

Pointless, hypocritical

At least we stick to MN and not do it from a podium near No10.. 😝

Sparklingbrook · 27/04/2020 10:37

OMG can you imagine the outrage if he had had a haircut? That’s all that would have been focussed on.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 27/04/2020 10:38

He can’t give time scales and exact plans, but I’d defy anybody to watch the briefings from another country and see the information given there and think our government looks anything other than a joke. (US excepted).

And judging by MN the current state of play is anything other than clear. There’s about as many different opinions on the purpose of lockdown as there are posters and there’s no consensus on what is allowed during lockdown even when the question being asked is blatantly against the regulations.

The lockdown regulations were changed and tightened on Wednesday. Did that make it into the daily briefing?

wanderings · 27/04/2020 10:42

I didn't bother to watch it, I knew MN would tell me all I needed to know.

As predicted, he told us ABSOLUTELY NOTHING meaningful.

What is this "light at the end of the tunnel" some people keep banging on about? I can't see it anywhere, in HM government's total silence on exit strategy.

NurseImogenQuy · 27/04/2020 10:45

Boris looks like a kids TV presenter doing an impression of Trump

😁

SouthWestmom · 27/04/2020 10:45

Ok what I mean is having levels like

Initially we expect schools to reopen for some year groups and operate on a part time basis. During this phase x,y,z businesses will operate with social distancing

If we cope we expect to reintroduce eg mental health care/community nursing/planned operations whatever

OP posts:
NurseImogenQuy · 27/04/2020 10:45

That was supposed to be a grin emoji not a grimace!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 27/04/2020 10:49

Why do we need to be told that in a new way? It's really obvious and has been said from various podiums almost every day.

SouthWestmom · 27/04/2020 10:53

No it hasn't. They haven't said what lifting it might look like just that some social distancing will remain

OP posts:
Ulver · 27/04/2020 10:55

Did he say that this virus was Unexpected?
That is so not true and more details coming out every day about the multiple warnings and advice the govt were given over the last four years to prepare for this exact scenario.
