What is worth every penny?

For me it is a few things:

A decent kids bike. One made with kid's geometry in mind, not just a mini adults bike.

Marmite. No other yeast extract compares!

I can't think of anything at the moment ... but the season ticket to the lido is always worth every penny. I don't imagine I will be buying one of those this year ...

... I'll be jumping in the river if this goes on much longer ...

Netflix, Prime, NowTV. So much good quality TV for us all for a total of £20 a month. I used to pay a fortune on Sky, about £40 for the TV package, and I get it all plus more with the subscriptions.

A good mattress - mine cost £600 and it's like sleeping on a cloud, and 5 years later it's as good as the day I bought it.

Decent towels. For a wedding present we got Debenhams vouchers and as we already lived together we thought "let's not buy stuff we already have let's spend a silly amount on something we wouldn't usually fork out on". So we bought 5 towels for £45 each - that was the sale price 😬 I swear, 10 years later they are as warm and fluffy and white as the day we bought them. In fact they outlasted the marriage Grin

Contents insurance. Broke my oven and got a new one three days later. Yes, my premium will go up, but to be able to get a new oven for the price of my excess is amazing!

Any Apple product I own - in particular at the moment my AirPods. Not having any wires is so damn good particularly when I crochet. I always used to end up with wool and wire tangled.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/04/2020 12:11

A Bluetooth speaker - was about £20 and it's so great to be able to cart it around the house with me and have music wherever I go. At some point I need to find out a bit more about these clever things and have one in every room!

Henry hoover - our previous one lasted about twenty years. Hopefully the new one will do just as well.

John Lewis sheepskin slippers - I just love them. Might upgrade to Uggs at some point, when they're on offer.

Laser eye surgery and my temper mattress. Beat money I've ever spent. Never regretted either. Both paid for with windfalls.

I have shared this story on here a couple of times so apologies if you have read it before 🙂

This time last year I was in agony with sciatica, despite weekly appointments with the osteopath and acupunctureist.
I saw my GP to request a refural for an MRI scan, she refused. Eventually in September on the insistence of my osteopath I paid to have a private scan.
The scan picked up large abdominal masses.
I week later I saw a Gynaecologist who did an ultrasound scan and ordered blood tests and a CT scan.
2 weeks later I was diagnosed with Stage one ovarian cancer.
2 weeks later, so only 5 weeks from getting the original MRI results I had major abdominal surgery. I had a complete hysterectomy, my appendix removed and a hernia repair.
Oh and 3 cysts removed the biggest one being a tumour on my overy which weighed 50lb.....
I lost 3 stone in 5 hours 😁😮
I honestly had absolutely no idea I had it, I just thought I was getting fat 😁
I found out 5 weeks later that it was actually completely benign and no further treatment was needed
Have the MRI scan was definitely the best £450 I have ever spent! 💕
