Right, that’s it, I’ve had enough. I’m having a day out. Who’s with me?

(Obviously this isn’t real, before you send the lockdown squad round)
I fancy a day out at Whitby. Wander along the beach. Mooch round the lanes and little shops. Fish n chips. A cold pint of shandy. Think about walking up the steps to the abbey.(then change my mind again) an ice cream then home.
Where are you running away to?

Swaledale for an 11 mile walk.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 23/04/2020 08:20

Cycle up the coast path to Amble and have fish and chips at the harbour.

timeforawine · 23/04/2020 08:28

Oooo a day out, i'm going to Chester Zoo. Their live videos have been great and we want to see the animals

Sparticle · 23/04/2020 08:34

I have nominated this thread for Classics to remind us of what dreaming of life after lockdown felt like. Although who knows how long it's going to last... Confused

MyOtherProfile · 23/04/2020 08:38

I'm coming with the OP to Whitby.

Twixandtwirl · 23/04/2020 09:55

I'm taking my nan out for a cup of tea and a slice of cake at her favourite garden centre. I'm missing her so much right now and it breaks my heart that she thinks I don't want to see her. Sad

Jellyboobs · 23/04/2020 17:25

London, go to all the galleries, watch some plays, eat pizza in my favourite pizza place, go for a ride on the river boats, to the parks, ride the tube.

Bouledeneige · 23/04/2020 17:31

Oh the sea would be lovely! Aldeburgh for me. A walk along the beach to Thorpeness for a pub lunch in the garden and then back to mosey round the shops and get an ice cream.

Ursaminor · 23/04/2020 17:38

I feel guilt. I live near the sea and have just been out to the beach for a paddle and it was indeed lovely!

Ursaminor · 23/04/2020 17:39

I am now counting my blessings and reminding myself not to take where I live for granted.

MammyOoo · 23/04/2020 17:42

To meet my brand new nephew and kiss his tiny head and do my sisters chores while she has w shower and/or nap Grin and hug my mum

DanceItOut · 23/04/2020 17:48

I just want to go see my mum.

busyhonestchildcarer · 23/04/2020 17:48

I will come too in our new little fantasy going out.

squiggletea · 23/04/2020 17:48

I’ve only read the first and last pages but it’s made me all emotional.

Whitby... yes please!

Lol to Redcar!

DagenhamRoundhouse · 23/04/2020 17:50

Just to be able to go to the shops and go into any one I chose and buy whatever I chose without keeping 6 feet away from anyone else and queuing outside.

Shotokan101 · 23/04/2020 17:52

North pole for me

mimosaadorna · 23/04/2020 17:55

My MIL lives at Mablethorpe, which in itself is fairy hideaways, but a few miles down the coast are Donna Nook, or Chapel Point. Donna Nook is MOD land where seals come to pup, and Chapel Point is just remote with Sand Dunes , and sea, not much else....that would do me fine. And then back to my MILs house (where Tennyson lived once), for open fire, a G & T, and some chip shop fare ☺️

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 23/04/2020 17:56

I'm going to Northumberland to try out the paddle board I bought in a sale earlier this year. I've never done it and it looks amazing!

Lincolnfield · 23/04/2020 17:59

We should have been at Whitby for a week from 4th April and were so looking forward to romping over the cliff walk from Runswick Bay to Staithes with our dogs.

I would love to be in Rome again. We were there In December and it was wonderful. So my fantasy ‘day’ would be breakfast in Rome, lunch in Vienna and dinner in some wonderful little mountain hutte in the Tyrol or the Dolomites.

Oh well - back to the garden it is then.

YankeeinKingArthursCourt · 23/04/2020 18:00

I'll come to Whitby too and stand on that great windswept cliff conjuring up images of Dracula

pollymere · 23/04/2020 18:03

I've been walking in the Chiltern Hills anyway. Mostly at night mind.

Babdoc · 23/04/2020 18:04

I’d go down to Edinburgh to hug my daughters. I haven’t seen them since before I was hospitalised with Covid and not sure I would survive to see them again- they were worried sick too. It will be a very emotional reunion. Or alternatively I’ll have them both up here to Perthshire, and have walks to local lochs and hills.

BoswellsBollocks · 23/04/2020 18:09

I’d like to go to Llandudno please?

I think we’ll go by train though to make more of the day. Once there we’ll walk along the front and down the pier. We’ll have donuts and try to avoid the seagulls. Once at the end of the pier we’ll waste some cash in the arcades before a drink at the bar.

We’ll watch a Punch and Judy show then we’ll go up the Orme by tram, we’ll declare it far too windy for much other than a drink in the cafe before heading back down.

We might have a game of crazy golf at the toboggan place before going to the park at the bottom of the Orme.

To finish the day we’ll get fish and chips from Fish Tram Chips and eat them sitting on the sea front.

Bliss.

It was on my bucket list of things to do this year to have a weekend in Whitby with DH. All these hints of what to do and where to eat are making me ache to get out there. As soon as we can move around freely again, I'm booking a place in Whitby.Where should we stay? An airbnb? Or a lovely old fashioned hotel or B&B?

OJZJ · 23/04/2020 18:20

Long walk into town to shop at M&S, next and Debenhams (total fantasy lost them in our town, I know I have limited low budget tastes) I am REALLY missing a decent cup of coffee in the sunshine(my Nespresso pods just arnt cutting it) , taking my son for ice cream on the beach and a park meet up so my son could see all his friends whilst we enjoy the coffee then pack our bags to either head up to Yorkshire to visit family or over to Disneyland-lot quicker to get to from where we are-3 hours door to door inc customs rather than 6 or 7....
It honestly feels like it will never happen again and I now feel quite sad. Life has come to a grounding day stand still at our house.
