Right, that’s it, I’ve had enough. I’m having a day out. Who’s with me?

(Obviously this isn’t real, before you send the lockdown squad round)
I fancy a day out at Whitby. Wander along the beach. Mooch round the lanes and little shops. Fish n chips. A cold pint of shandy. Think about walking up the steps to the abbey.(then change my mind again) an ice cream then home.
Where are you running away to?

Not too far away for a couple of nights in Southend, Sun, sea, food, park.
More far flung our planned trip to Ibiza in early July, gd food, cocktails, much swimming etc. Luckily hadn't booked yet and doesn't look like we will see it til next summer when costs will no doubt be astronomical

RaspberryCola · 23/04/2020 18:26

St Ives. Won’t even moan about the parking I’ll walk up every hill

ProfessionalWeirdo · 23/04/2020 18:26

@Floexotic
"I’ll never take a day out or holiday for granted again!"

Neither will I.

Mikki69 · 23/04/2020 18:27

Just to be able to walk on Dartmoor to a few of my favourite places would be so lovely!

Camomila · 23/04/2020 18:28

Ideal world - weekend away at Thomas Land in Drayton Manor (DS1s cancelled 4th birthday treat)

Would settle for - going to mums house with the DSs, going for a walk in the woods behind her house, then all ordering Indian or Chinese.

lilystan · 23/04/2020 18:34

Holywell Bay, Cornwall. Walk on the beach followed by a pub lunch.
Any seaside location. Broadstairs, Brighton, Whitsable and Hastings. Especially the old town in Hastings, museum, cliff lift. It would just be nice to get out.

WendyE · 23/04/2020 18:37

Wetherspoons or somewhere similar.
Am missing draft Carling. Tinned just doesn't taste similar.
Might just have a cheeky burger and chips with that as well.
In fact open pub would be nice ATM, not that I'm an alcoholic mind ;-)

CrepuscularCritter · 23/04/2020 18:43

This is incredibly evocative. Thanks for all the fabulous places you have taken me. I will be on the beach in New Quay. We'll take the research boat to spot the dolphins, seals and birds, then mine's a fish in tempura batter and chips from the Lime Crab on the beach. With a bitter chocolate marmalade ice cream to follow, and a Big Walk. We'll watch the sun set from the cliff top.

Lou12124 · 23/04/2020 18:51

The beach with the family or leeds castle for the day...followed by an evening bbq with the family and endless wine and cocktails

moolady1977 · 23/04/2020 18:53

I'd hire a big mini bus and pick up the parents all our kids and grandkids and off to Scarborough we would go on the beach and have ice cream them to our little chippie we discovered we liked then off to peasholme park to feed the squirrels and ducks ,we would book a night at Travelodge then have one of their lovely breakfasts the next morning before setting off to mablethorpe to walk on the beach and watch the kids and grandkids playing and see the stone I left for my ddog then to my favourite shop in the whole world we would book a night in a nice b& b, then next day would be Cleethorpes again kids on the beach , fish and chips and take them all on the little train before home to look at all the pictures we took of our days away

starfishmummy · 23/04/2020 18:55

Anywhere. By the sea would be lovely but anywhere as long as its by myself.
Donr get me wrong we are all fine but I have a ds with SN. Hes 21 but its like having a toddler sometimes - I cant donanything withiut being asked what Im doing, where and why!!

Bubbletrouble43 · 23/04/2020 18:59

I miss Sundays at the local cider farm. Kids get to look at the pigs and goats for free, we amble about and maybe have a cider before home.

allanaw929 · 23/04/2020 19:06

I'd settle for Redcar too, and I briefly lived there so I know it isn't exactly paradise lol. But for me it'd have to be the trip I had booked for April 18th with my sons playgroup, we were going to a safari park and I haven't done anything like that since I was a kid. I'm animal daft so a safari park is heaven, pretty sure my son would have enjoyed it too 😥

mumwon · 23/04/2020 19:08

either going to one of my adult kids homes - possibly having a bbq in one of their back gardens with them all there & playing & cuddling dgs
&
going to either the Isle of Mull or the Scilly Isles ( both v far from me but hey ho one can dream)
or
going to Cambridge Botanic Gardens & meeting up with my friends & having tea there & just talking & wondering round (or possibly meeting up with family there)

ginghamstarfish · 23/04/2020 19:09

Yes, Whitby would be lovely, and a stroll round Robin Hood's Bay, or if I could go further then Broadstairs.

coldwarenigma · 23/04/2020 19:47

We were due to go to Snowdonia in June. Doubt it will happen so I will join in the virtual trip instead.
Actually Whitby/North Yorks is on our 'to do list' Any recommendations for caravan sites? And stuff to do with a wheelchaired DH and a loopy high energy large dog ?

Teddybear27 · 23/04/2020 19:50

Isn't it interesting that, not everyone, but most people would like to go to the beach? I live not far from the beach, so I would like to go there, have a lovely view of the sea from a cafe I know and drink a decent cup of coffee, or two, with a slice of something sweet, while reading a good book and then go for a walk along the beach. Get some good sea air in my lungs. Isn't it funny the things you take for granted? ❤️

LidlDonkey · 23/04/2020 19:56

I'm off to Lyme Regis, fossil hunting. I'm staying in a gorgeous apartment with a view directly over the sea

The sun will shine every single day and I will find tons of ammonites and drink loads of local real ale.

Can't wait.

coldwarenigma · 23/04/2020 19:58

I live on south coast Teddy pre lockdown I walked my dog up to 3 times a week on the beach but no doubt when they lift restrictions they will then put in the usual 'no dogs' bylaws.

But back to thread, can't wait to hitch caravan and have this MN holiday. Grin

Tubs11 · 23/04/2020 20:36

I'd hope on a plane and visit our families... Even if it meant they had to meet us at the airport and we only got to spend 5 mins with them it would be the best 5 mins ever!

Tubs11 · 23/04/2020 20:37

*hop

Callaird · 23/04/2020 20:40

Guernsey. Coffee with friends. Pub with others. Going to one of many sandy beaches. It’s like my second home.

SoapIsYourFriend · 23/04/2020 20:48

Bbq on the beach with DH, DC and dogs. We are so going g to appreciate these things when this is over.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 23/04/2020 20:52

Ahem.... CrepuscularCritter

bitter chocolate marmalade ice cream ??? That sounds divine.....

Forgottenwhatsleepis · 23/04/2020 21:16

We're off to Kynance Cove in Cornwall, all our family in convoy. We're going to walk down the massive long walk that's about eleventy billion miles, climb the rocks, rock pooling, then onto a chippy at Sennen, drive on to Lands End and watch the sun go down from the cliff top
