Right, that’s it, I’ve had enough. I’m having a day out. Who’s with me?

(Obviously this isn’t real, before you send the lockdown squad round)
I fancy a day out at Whitby. Wander along the beach. Mooch round the lanes and little shops. Fish n chips. A cold pint of shandy. Think about walking up the steps to the abbey.(then change my mind again) an ice cream then home.
Where are you running away to?

I'd actually settle for just a little garden right now, and a bloody walk outside. If I was able to be transported I'd be back home on the Isles of Scilly with a tripple ice-cream, a pint of ale and a pasty. I'd feel the sand on my toes and swim in our beautiful ocean.

transformandriseup · 23/04/2020 21:50

OMG the Silly Isles, that's brought back memories from so long ago 😢

transformandriseup · 23/04/2020 21:52

Bloody autocorrect. Scilly Isles.

Lostinthedesert · 23/04/2020 22:16

I must go down to the sea again, to Whitby or or to Rye,
And all I ask is fish and chips and some sun to eat it by.
And a cream tea where the tea’s strong, and the jam’s the owner’s making,
And large white wines in a country pub and a ten in the morning waking....

Legoandloldolls · 23/04/2020 22:25

Woolacombe or littlesea. Just to see the kids run around and play in the sea.

Or just sitting on my friends sofa

PotteryLottery · 23/04/2020 22:50

Frinton.

Madcatgirl · 23/04/2020 23:08

I’m away down to Cornwall to sit on the beach all dh with my in laws and their kids. Don’t care which beach, Praa or Gwithian most preferred. Well bring kids of snacks and drinks, we’ll be in and out of our wet suits and body boarding, building sandcastles, digging massive holes, rock pooling and eating sandy pasties until the sun goes down.

I miss swimming... Even my local gym pool would do.
But would love to go somewhere warm... Had holidays booked. So unlikely now and no idea when will be able to go abroad again.
Will have to rediscover the joys of freezing on UK beaches Grin

missionalmostimpossible · 24/04/2020 00:07

I'm off on a yoga retreat for 3 days...anywhere in the country as long as it's rural, and is for women only, meaning I can leave the family behind. Especially DH, who seems determined to make first class moaning an Olympic activity, for which he would win gold!

Pliudev · 24/04/2020 00:36

I want to run down the street in Barcelona trying to keep up with my grandsons on their bikes. I want to sit watching them in the playground while the sun burns through my dress. Later on, when they're asleep, I want my son to take me to the tapas bar in Calle Margarit. Basically, I just want to see my family again.

sassymum67 · 24/04/2020 03:41

Dont worry. Hope soon be over. Am taking pooches out 5am. New experience! Am very proud of our NHS. My daughter is key worker and is exhausted and I just want to give her a hug but face time is second best. At least got that xx

sassymum67 · 24/04/2020 03:42

Am in Polperro in my head!!

Mothership4two · 24/04/2020 04:04

Just want to go to the beach

Mumof1andacat · 24/04/2020 04:25

Every day out sounds wonderful! I too would love a day out at the seaside with a picnic and a play in the amusements with ds and dh maybe a day out to a local theme park. Ds favourite place

Tammyxxx · 24/04/2020 06:19

I’m jumping on a plane to Dubai to hang out with my daughter - eat cake n gossip.🤫

Jasmin82 · 24/04/2020 07:16

Taking Resident Collie into consideration, our day out would be to Seahouses and Bamburgh. A morning hoon along the beach (but not into the sea because it's too cold for delicate paws), visit the castle grounds. Then have lunch before going back to the beach for a paddle. By that time, Resident Collie will have worked up an appetite so we end the day with fish and chips (and an extra couple of sausages) in the car before we head for home.
Without Resident Collie it would be Alton Towers. I love roller coasters and had been hoping to go back this year and try and figure out if I can still go on any while my legs are being uncooperative (Even just Nemesis. I don't need any others, just that one).

Lostinthedesert, brilliant! Star

I'm finding it hard to read these without getting shiny eyes. Will any of us take these simple pleasures for granted again?

I'm thinking about getting up early and trying to get the family to do likewise, then still spending ages in the traffic queues to get into the beach carpark at West Wittering. It's probably our 'closest' beach (we're land-locked) and theoretically we should be able to do it in under two hours. We'd need a windbreak as it's usually pretty breezy there. Set up camp, chase DS2 round the beach, enjoy my favourite beach pastime of nurdle-hunting (we do beach cleans). Take innumerable 'arty' photos of the beach huts half-buried in sand, lichen on the groynes, boys cavorting etc. Enjoy picnic covered in sand. Buy ice lollies and cake from the beach cafe. More cavorting. Realise we're too late to get a burger and chips from the cafe and stop off in Chichester at Wagamamas for tea.

That, or sod the kids and take myself into Oxford for a mooch! God, I really miss being able to just hop on the bus and amble around the shops, enjoy a coffee in a favourite cafe, buy some books...

Harls1969 · 24/04/2020 08:48

I'd be quite happy if our daily walk could end up with a nice cold beer in a pub garden in the sunshine

CrepuscularCritter · 24/04/2020 09:34

truthisarevolutionaryact Bitter chocolate marmalade ice cream is from Creme Pen Cei. I gamely did my best to eat their entire tub of the bitter chocolate over a week, while DH took several for the team in trying out their other flavours, usually 2 at a time. I'll happily go back and try it again several times...just to make sure it was every bit as good as I remember!

bellinisurge · 24/04/2020 09:48

Whitby sounds great. Or just anywhere by the sea.

Kbear · 24/04/2020 09:52

I'm combining exercise with a day out today - driving 50 minutes to Reculver in Kent then riding my bike along the shore to herne bay - possibility of continuing to westgate - I'm stopping for a bacon sandwich and ice cream on the way back of course

In reality I have a day of annual leave today so I'm doing what good folk do and staying home - just not logging on!

Merryweather80 · 24/04/2020 13:58

I want to take my newborn out of the house, just out anywhere to meet his family and our friends. I want to see my girls run around at the Park or at the beach at grandads house, screeching and having fun! I want to eat too many ice creams, get a bit sandy at the beach or grass-stained from sitting in the park.
I want our first family day out. Almost three weeks old and we've only seen hospital or home.
I'm sick of my neighbours - one side party one side are pot heads its been hell living between the two. So moving house is on my list too.

Such simple pleasures we all took for granted but won't again.

user1493379562 · 24/04/2020 14:06

A day out at Alton Towers with my son's. I wouldn't even mind queuing up for hours. I just miss that adrenaline rush from all the rides!

Waitingforadulthood · 24/04/2020 15:42

I'll be in Barcelona. I'll stay in the W, or maybe an air bnb, have pan con tomate and perfect coffee for pre breakfast befitting heading out to the market for a mooch and more breakfast. Then I'll stop for a sheer tin my favourite sherry bar and watch the world go by. There's a montedego place in raval I like that has €1 specials on Tuesday, so I hope it'll be a Tuesday. If not I'll go to a side cafe with a decent menu del dia, avoiding anywhere that has an English menu.

Then I'll go to my favourite square with a book and intend to sit and read it but I'll actually be people watching again.

As the evening draws in I'll cross the city finding all my favourite pinxos places - I'll visit at least 10, drink wine and eat to my hearts content.

I may be alone for this, or with dh,depending on whether he survives the lockdown - as it's stands , its 50/50 that my first day out will actually be in court as I defend the increasingly inevitable murder charge

Jojofjo44 · 24/04/2020 16:23

I would just like the local park to be open again, so our 3 year old can go nuts. After that a trip to Skeggyvegas with fish and chips from that one on the corner opposite to the sealife place. We were due to go to Butlins on monday for Tots Week and Justin Fletcher. ;'(((((
