Right, that’s it, I’ve had enough. I’m having a day out. Who’s with me?

(Obviously this isn’t real, before you send the lockdown squad round)
I fancy a day out at Whitby. Wander along the beach. Mooch round the lanes and little shops. Fish n chips. A cold pint of shandy. Think about walking up the steps to the abbey.(then change my mind again) an ice cream then home.
Where are you running away to?

Looks like the seaside is the winner with Whitby at the front.
I'll fire the bus up. All aboard. 😁

Gizlotsmum · 22/04/2020 19:27

After my Friday exercise class I would head to the coast and just breath in the sea air.. Then hit the penny arcades, buy some rock, and come home...

AlternativePerspective · 22/04/2020 19:28

Seaside here too.

Actually I’d quite like to just go to a shop (shielding).

Echobelly · 22/04/2020 19:29

Brighton or Whitstable for me!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 22/04/2020 19:29

I just want to go to the local Costa with my book and my headphones. I want to sit and read, and drink coffee and people watch in my own little world.

No school at home,or endless role play with a 5yr old or conference calls, or Email dings or Skype messages, or plotting the best time of day to go to the supermarket to avoid mega queues and to make sure they still have bread on the shelves.....

I also want a big slice of carrot cake with my bucket of vanilla latte (iced if it's a hot day).

mummmy2017 · 22/04/2020 19:30

I was on the QE2 going into port last night.
Thank you YouTube uploader.

Snaleandthewhail · 22/04/2020 19:30

When we go to Whitby can we go out on one of the harbour boat trips?

Bournemouth is closer to me. I want to go down and swim in the sea and not, just for a few minutes, be responsible for my children.

Getitdonesharpish · 22/04/2020 19:31

Me too. Running straight into our local outdoor pool for a swim and then a wonderful gossip with all the lovely ladies in the showers, followed by cake and a hot tea whilst soaking up the sunshine by the pool. And absolutely no children allowed for a couple of blissful hours. Today has been long and hard.

FallonSwift · 22/04/2020 19:32

A weekend break in London. I want busy-ness and bustle and people. Stay over in a Premier Inn and spend all day walking and seeing the sights. Out for a nice dinner and then home on the train the next day.

SymbollocksInteractionism · 22/04/2020 19:37

Away to local cottages with all the family from both sides.
Nice walks, plenty of food, wine, games, log fires and just being able to give them all a hug again.

JenaWren · 22/04/2020 19:37

I'm off to walk the South West Coast path. I may stop in a pub or two along the way.

purpleme12 · 22/04/2020 19:39

To a farm (with my child)
Or to the seaside
Or York
Anywhere!

Theflushedzebra · 22/04/2020 19:41

As soon as lockdown started, I had a mad urge to go to the London museums - Natural Hstory, Science, V&A - any really.

And yes, the beach - coastal walks, fish & chips, pubs, eating out just because we fancy it.

Miss all of that - but we will do these things again. More likely to, if we can contain this bloody virus.

Xiaoxiong · 22/04/2020 19:41

Funny so many of us yearn for the seaside. I do too. Just reading Patrick Barkham's excellent book call Coastlines - anyone missing the sea should read it, it's a lovely gentle book of travel writing, nice anecdotes, and such evocative descriptions of the coast that you almost feel you're there. After I read a few chapters I put an ocean waves playlist on Spotify and pretend I'm sitting on the beach...

wrong thread sorry

Tiredmum100 · 22/04/2020 19:43

I'm off to Saundersfoot with my dh, dc, mum, dad, sister and her boyfriend. We're going for a walk and play on the beach, picnic at lunch time and then in the evening off to a restaurant, not sure which one yet.

TheClitterati · 22/04/2020 19:43

@Echo I'll meet you in Whitstable for a dozen oysters and Chardonnay.

My fav treat meal out.

DefConOne · 22/04/2020 19:47

A sandy beach in SE Cornwall for bodyboarding and a swim. We’ll want our wetsuits as it’s still April. Fish and chips on the way home and pub band for me and DH. My mum will be desperate to babysit I’m sure. Mmmm, pints of cider in a hot and sweaty pub.

ConcentricCircles · 22/04/2020 19:48

@OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow - I'll pick you up on my motorbike and we can whizz off to Whitby together if ya like!

starsparkle08 · 22/04/2020 19:51

Costa to meet a couple of close friends and have some normality that I will now appreciate a lot more

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 22/04/2020 19:53

Yes the beach here too. Talacre in North wales, a walk through the dunes and along the beach with a kite, running along with the kids, it'll definitely fly. Then down the little street to the chippy and sit on the benches outside to eat. After that a pint in the pub before home.

HotSauceCommittee · 22/04/2020 19:53

I've had a drink and am feeling spontaneous, OP, so pop into my shitty, but reliable Ford Fusion and we'll go to Lyme Regis. We will laugh lots, I will show off and say rude things and take the piss out of people we see on the way (just in the car, so we don't upset anyone). We can have fish and chips on the beach and a game of frisbee, then we can go to the amusement arcade and play on the slots. After this, we can repair to the subterranean real ale pub and get one of the board game out. Perhaps scrabble? They we can go for a walk along the coast to see what other mischief we can get up to while we are a little bit pissed.

starsparkle08 · 22/04/2020 19:54

Also the beach with my son - he has autism adhd and learning difficulties and is struggling to understand why we cannot visit the beach . So I look forward to taking him there and him standing looking out to sea. He doesn’t play in the sand or sit down at all when we go but just enjoys watching the waves for an hour or so then the arcade followed by some chips. It’s never a day out as he cannot manage that. We usually go late on in the day so a lot quieter . Works well for us 😊

Chienloup · 22/04/2020 19:56

It's my friend's birthday on Friday. We have celebrated together for the last 32 years. So for me it will be a day out in Soho, lunch, cocktails, karaoke, then pub.
