Right, that’s it, I’ve had enough. I’m having a day out. Who’s with me?

(Obviously this isn’t real, before you send the lockdown squad round)
I fancy a day out at Whitby. Wander along the beach. Mooch round the lanes and little shops. Fish n chips. A cold pint of shandy. Think about walking up the steps to the abbey.(then change my mind again) an ice cream then home.
Where are you running away to?

I'd like to go for a walk along the Thames, then Borough Market for lunch, then maybe see the roses in Regents Park, followed by a few drinks and dinner in a busy pub. I don't want space, I want noise, and people.

Joyfulincolour · 22/04/2020 20:47

A walk on Southwold beach or Wells beach. Then a meal in The Globe and then we will sit on the Butlands grassy area and have a cold cider.

Hoohaahoo · 22/04/2020 20:49

I’ll give Redcar a miss but I’d love to go to Saltburn. I’d have a walk along the beach, a go on the 2p machines in the arcade. Then I’d walk up to the spa hotel and have lunch on the decking. A quick mooch around town and home. Perfect!

MistyIsland · 22/04/2020 20:50

I really fancy paddle boarding at the moment beautiful weather for it.

And the kids are desperate to be anywhere but home maybe the beach.

frumpety · 22/04/2020 20:50

Will go to my local NT place and learn to love it all over again. Then in the afternoon head to the seaside, probably Scarborough, lovely though Whitby is, I miss Scarborough the most Smile

rookiemere · 22/04/2020 20:54

I like Whitby too, but as it's a bit far for a day trip I said to DH we should go to North Berwick. Fab wee seaside town about 30 mins from Edinburgh with a sit down chippy that does lobster. Bring the dog too- probably not the grumpy teen.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 22/04/2020 20:55

I’ve not been to Saltburn for years. I’m liking that idea.
Actually, as I live in the country,(which I’m really grateful for) I’d quite like a day in town. Bobby round Fenwicks, then the Laing. Dim sum in Chinatown or a big fat cake and coffee.

I'd like to revisit the wild beauty of Llanberis Pass... although it's probably packed with people taking essential exercise Hmm

MrsJBaptiste · 22/04/2020 20:58

I've just been talking to DH and the kids about our next trip to Whitby.

We have a flat there and usually go every Bank Hol, half term, school holiday... we miss it!

The walks along the beach, the cafes, the pubs, fish & chips - everything!

MichaelBoobins · 22/04/2020 21:00

Another one for Whitby 🙋‍♀️

zafferana · 22/04/2020 21:00

I'd just like to go and visit my parents. Thank goodness I saw them at half term, but I missed seeing them over Easter and I feel gutted that they could be locked down for months yet or even a year or more. My dad is 77 and has heart problems. I don't know how long he has left and every year is precious Sad

Knotaknitter · 22/04/2020 21:00

I'd like a couple of days in a hotel with a decent restaurant. I'd like to sit at a table, look at a menu and choose what to eat rather than have all meals planned out a week in advance because of the weekly shop. I'd like to sip my drink while pondering "What do I fancy?" rather than "What needs eating up?/what did I buy last Friday?/what's at the back of the freezer?"

Warmhandscoldheart · 22/04/2020 21:01

I'm off to Norwich to wander in and out of the shops at my leisure then into the Belgian Monk for a bowl of mussels, probably in white wine sauce with apples, with chips and a fruit beer or two.

Bearlyclearly · 22/04/2020 21:02

Off to North Wales to see my 96 year old Granny, then a good long walk on the beach and a chippy tea

CorianderLord · 22/04/2020 21:03

Lands end.

Beach cottage, cooking up seafood with wine/whiskey and reading books by the fire before a bracing swim in the morning to knock the hangover out of me

Dyra · 22/04/2020 21:03

Being selfish and only doing what I want to do? I'm off to Alton Towers! Ride as many of the rides as I can, then pick up some KFC on the way home.

Not being selfish and being with DD and DH? Go see family. Any one of: parents in Birmingham, in-laws in Southend, sister in Bournemouth, grandparents in Weston-Super-Mare. Have a BBQ or a picnic lunch, chat and enjoy each others company for a few hours, then head for home. Picking up KFC on the way.

Genderwitched · 22/04/2020 21:05

We often go to a small holiday park in Hayle Cornwall. They have an outside bar where you can watch the sun go down behind St. Ives.

I want to be there, with a white wine spritzer in my hand.

tararabumdeay · 22/04/2020 21:11

I can taste of the salt of the sea. The now unfamiliar rattle and crash of coins in the penny machine begins again. A trickle of people return and it soon becomes a waterfall.
With a whir and a crackle of electricity a trundle of trams are away to where on the journey to there and back.
Generations meet and arrange to meet again by the Laughing King if any are lost. The lights blink, sparkle then disappear.
I'll be out all day. A cheap hotel is good enough for proper tired sleep.
The sleep of the wind's and the sea's sighs and kisses.

Just breathing will do till I've had my chips.

justasking111 · 22/04/2020 21:13

I want to go to Conwy have a womble around then walk down to the quay, get a drink from the pub a bag of chips, sit on the steps and glare at the beady eyed seagulls eyeing them up. I can watch the boats bobbing on the water and enjoy the air.

gluteustothemaximus · 22/04/2020 21:15

I've love to go down to Sandbanks. Beautiful sandy beach. Eating fish and chips and watching the kids play for hours in the sand.

TheSherbetTurbot · 22/04/2020 21:16

I went for an (imaginary) day out in Manchester with my friend last week. We had a lovely time, a very expensive lunch, I bought a handbag ill never use from Harvey Nichols. We had cocktails.. And we got so pissed we decided to stay the night at the Hilton. Its Leeds this week. Anyone got any suggestions of nice places for lunch, I've not been for years.. 😂

mrsBtheparker · 22/04/2020 21:17

Sheringham and Ronaldo's Tequila and lime sorbet. Stop off in Holt to buy some fridge brownies from Byfords, tea in the fields at Wyverton Hall cafe.

bigchris · 22/04/2020 21:17

I live near the sea and currently feel guilty for walking by it !

I'd love to go to London, shopping , cocktails and a hotel

Drbrowns · 22/04/2020 21:17

Parents garden with a glass of wine with my mam while my dad cooks the bbq and the kids are happy playing in the Wendy house and then a walk on the beach after.

EssentialHummus · 22/04/2020 21:18

Dinner at Sheeky's for me please. Starting with a dozen oysters, then fish pie as a main, no dessert but lots of good champagne to wash it all down.
