Right, that’s it, I’ve had enough. I’m having a day out. Who’s with me?

(Obviously this isn’t real, before you send the lockdown squad round)
I fancy a day out at Whitby. Wander along the beach. Mooch round the lanes and little shops. Fish n chips. A cold pint of shandy. Think about walking up the steps to the abbey.(then change my mind again) an ice cream then home.
Where are you running away to?

We’re going camping tonight, admittedly it means sleeping on a huge blow up watermelon and some bed sheets tied around a pillar in the flat.

Michelleoftheresistance · 22/04/2020 20:02

Oh definitely a hotel in the lakes with windows that open directly out onto the waterside. With an extremely good restaurant and boat trips leaving from the gardens. A potter through the town to look at the shops, maybe a hike up into the hills followed by afternoon tea. With other people around, peopling.

Dorset for me - Corfu Castle tea rooms in the morning for scones and cream and Jam. Then lie on the beach at Durdle Door in the afternoon and nice pub meal on the way home.

Frokni · 22/04/2020 20:04

Want to visit my favourite national trust estate, Calke Abbey, followed by a pub lunch!

All these are ideas are great guys! I can drive, who needs picking up around Northamptonshire? Let me squeeze into my jeans which appear to be shrinking in the wash Hmm

Bedgebury pinetum in goudhurts Kent- it is heaven on earth at this time of year. My DD will do the go ape tree top challenge (not the full thing) then we will walk through the pinetum with its awesome rhodedendron and azaelea bushes, we'll have a picnic by the lake and feed the ducks.

Then on the way home we'll have dinner in a lovely country pub.

Bedgebury is our Easter tradition and has been for the past five or six years. We go rain or shine.....the only thing that would stop us going is a global pande....fuck

CarolineIngalls · 22/04/2020 20:05

Just a day?

I want to fly to the outer banks in the USA and stay in a giant house on stilts with my extended family. They will do some of the talking to the 3 year old. We will drink cold california wine and eat corn on the cob. Everyone is healthy and looks marvellous in beach wear. We laugh and swim in the ocean (not called the sea there).

GreenTulips · 22/04/2020 20:06

Ohh can I come? I want a city break, noise, people, packed bars, shops so many shops!!

I want to walk around the town weighed down by bargains, while my feet hurt. I’ll nip into a small cafe for a bite to eat before heading back to the hotel to get changed for a theater show with friends followed by cocktails and dancing.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 22/04/2020 20:07

This thread is going to make me cry.
I’d just be happy to go to the shops(shielding too), even to the supermarket. But taking my little dog to have a whuffle in the sand is top of my list.

No thanks, but you could take my dh and kids please.

greythrow · 22/04/2020 20:10

Seaside for me. A stay in Drakes at Brighton, candy floss on the pier, chips for lunch. One of those hot hot days where you can practically taste the salt in the sea air as the breeze cools you down. I'd wander down the Laines hand in hand with my husband, maybe stop off at a little bar/cafe with outdoor seating for a cold alcoholic drink while the sun sets. Oh my god I can't wait Sad

BreadmanAndCake · 22/04/2020 20:10

A long walk at a National Trust estate with my friends and our toddlers, who are just getting to the stage where they enjoy playing and walking with each other. Picnic on the lawn and then home quickly so I can make dinner before going to work at the pub, where a great band are playing and some of the lovely locals are in for a good natter. I'm really missing work and it doesn't seem like it'll be opening any time soon.

ChickenNuggetsChipsAndBeans · 22/04/2020 20:13

I would like to go to my local lido. Go for a swim then sunbathe.

Or to a beer garden. Have a lunchtime beer and nice pub grub.

fourquenelles · 22/04/2020 20:13

Was just thinking about this today. I want to get on a train and go to Leigh -on-Sea to take in the cockle sheds, have a cider outside the little Mayflower pub and then a late lunch at the Peter Boat. I could then walk a couple of miles up the hill. popping into one or other of the numerous "expensive tat" shops en route to call on my aged Ps who are isolating in the town.

Dogswotsits · 22/04/2020 20:13

Robin hoods bay for me!

BikeRunSki · 22/04/2020 20:16

I’d take my mountain bike to the Oeak District. I’d start at Hope Station, tide along the Roman Road to Hope Cross, Mam Tor and Rushup Edge. Back along Winnat’s Pass to Hope, then onto Hathersage for a dip in the outdoor pool and a falafel burger at Outside.

BillywilliamV · 22/04/2020 20:17

Just want to visit my Mum!

BikeRunSki · 22/04/2020 20:17

*Peak District

BikeRunSki · 22/04/2020 20:18

Actually, I would visit my mum first. Of course. She’s 250 miles away.

Susanna85 · 22/04/2020 20:19

I'll have flown out to Ibiza island. There's a gloriously beautiful little spot where i'll be. It's not too busy. The water is turquoise and the little beach wine bar is playing good music. It's a suntrap, the water's calm so I might just hop onto this lilo with my drink and float around a little

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 22/04/2020 20:21

I'd go to the north coast of NI, spend the weekend with my folks, long country walk with my dad and family walk on Whitepark Bay with my family. Big roast beef dinner or barbecue with the best steaks in the world from the local butcher. Lots of wine, lots of chat and most importantly, lots of hugs.

I miss my folks so much right now Sad

bigchris · 22/04/2020 20:21
