Right, that’s it, I’ve had enough. I’m having a day out. Who’s with me?

(Obviously this isn’t real, before you send the lockdown squad round)
I fancy a day out at Whitby. Wander along the beach. Mooch round the lanes and little shops. Fish n chips. A cold pint of shandy. Think about walking up the steps to the abbey.(then change my mind again) an ice cream then home.
Where are you running away to?

All you lot at Whitby, please do come up the steps, me and my medieval reenactment group are camped at the abbey this weekend. We are wearing medieval dress and have a big campfire, come and say hello!

Wolfiefan · 22/04/2020 20:28

I’ve never been to Whitby. I would love to visit.
I would like to walk the dogs at the local arboretum, eat fish and chips by the sea, meet friends for drinks or take the kids out for lunch.
I haven’t driven the van in weeks. I’d love to belt (at a sensible and legal speed) to a dog show to hug my wonderful wolfhound friends.
I’d like to get back to volunteering at the local animal shelter.
I want to be out socialising the pup and going to dog training.
Seeing my book club face to face.
Holiday planned in Florida (hollow laugh) at Disney. Probably the last one before biggest child decides they won’t be seen dead with us.
Sad

@OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow YES to Whitby! I was thinking about there just this morning. Shockingly I found my self nearly crying at the lack of liberty and freedom. Today was a beautiful day and perfect for a day at the Seaside :(

I want to go to Cambridge. I'll get off the bus, walk up to John Lewis and mooch around the make up section, then go to Kiko and spend a small fortune. Beeline from there to the Hotel Chocolat cafe for one of their fancy hot chocolates, where I can just sit for a while. From there I'll go to Boots and mooch round their make up section. Amble around some of the other shops then double back on myself to go to the Grafton centre, and go to Primark, Forbidden Planet and Starbucks, and then get the bus home. I love shopping in Cambridge. It might not be the same when things go back to normal.

Pickles89 · 22/04/2020 20:30

I want to hit the North coast (Cornwall) and go bodyboarding! All day. And then I want to come home and have a BBQ with my family.

MaudesMum · 22/04/2020 20:30

I'd like to get a train to London on Saturday morning. I'd get there in time for a mooch around the shops and a visit to the Algerian Coffee Shop to stock up on coffee beans. I'd then meet up with my friend in time for a quick bit of lunch before a matinee - possibly at the National, possibly somewhere like the Kiln or the Bush. We'd then go our separate ways, and if I had any time to wait at Paddington I'd have a large glass of expensive wine in the pub right at the top of the station. I'd doze on the train and get home in time for a late supper...

Iamamoleinahole · 22/04/2020 20:31

I will come to Whitby too.

AgeLikeWine · 22/04/2020 20:31

San Sebastián for me. A lovely walk along the beach, followed by a light lunch of local seafood & a delicious ice cream. Then back to the hotel for a ‘lie down’ Blush, then head out for a tour of the bars with the locals drinking Rioja & enjoying some of the finest Basque cuisine anywhere.

Oh well, one day....

diddl · 22/04/2020 20:33

I've never been to Whitby so I'm in for that!

Fish & chips & jet?

Fabulous!

PickAChew · 22/04/2020 20:34

I'm off for a long bus ride with DS1. We'll probably head for Newcastle, first and Pret will open just for us so we can eat our lunch in Old Eldon Square. After that, probably a slow bus ride to South Shields, then down to Sunderland.

The boy has refused to leave the house for a month :(

GnomeDePlume · 22/04/2020 20:34

A day trip to France for me, timed so that I can go to a market, have lunch then home late that evening.

Voxx · 22/04/2020 20:34

Cornwall. Lovely long walk along the coast path with my BF and then fish and chips lunch in a pub. Walk back (stopping for a ice cream) and then dinner out somewhere posh so I have to put on a nice frock. Barefoot walk on the beach afterwards.

sossujunmash · 22/04/2020 20:36

DC want to go and play on the swings in a beautiful Victorian landscaped park in a nearby city. There is also a mock road circuit around it where kids ride bikes and skate, with mini traffic lights, and in the centre the largest sand pit i have ever seen - about 10 metre in diameter. On the way home we might get a kfc.

HoobleDooble · 22/04/2020 20:36

Just a half hour drive into the Peak District to see the spring lambs bouncing around the fields will do for me right now. I really take this for granted every year.

Millie2013 · 22/04/2020 20:36

I just want to go to our local(ish) park. Early doors, I’ll get coffee for OH and I, while DD plays in the play area, then we’ll have a walk along by the river and maybe hire a pedalo

We’ll have a picnic lunch on the grass, then it’ll have warmed up enough for DD to splash in the paddling pool

Afterwards, we’ll go to the mini fairground, or maybe play a round of crazy golf, then we’ll go to the little cafe for gelato

BurnIt · 22/04/2020 20:37

We're supposed to be in bognor Butlins this week.... I know its not everyone's cup of tea but with 2 4 year olds and this weather it would be mega.....

Plus the waiting service here is awful

PickAChew · 22/04/2020 20:38

I could persuade him to head down to whitby, I suppose, but it sounds rather busy for him! We'll get the X93 there and the X4 back to boro.

sobeyondthehills · 22/04/2020 20:40

I am off to a beach in the North East (not figured out which one yet) then moving on to Lancaster, followed by Yorkshire to go see two of my friends, down to Derby to see my partner's family then onto Southend on Sea to see more family.

Then I am having a day out in London, a proper tourist day. Going to the three closest theme parks (I am in the south east)

Then, I am going to convince my partner to move to Scotland and buy a horse.

Aposterhasnoname · 22/04/2020 20:42

I’m off into town to get my hair, nails and waxing done, then a mooch round the shops, then home and nip over the road to sit in the beer garden of the pub.

PickAChew · 22/04/2020 20:42

Ds2 and I got our spring lamb fix for real, yesterday

Right, that’s it, I’ve had enough. I’m having a day out. Who’s with me?
TheABC · 22/04/2020 20:45

Surfing in Cornwall, followed by chips and booze at my favourite bar, watching the sun go down over the bay.

Chillipeanuts · 22/04/2020 20:45

Ooh, Porthminster Beach, please. A mackerel sandwich for lunch then crab cakes at the Porthminster Cafe for dinner while the kids play on the beach.

Ravenesque · 22/04/2020 20:46

I'm going to visit a friend who moved into their new home just before everything went tits up. She has already got the spare room - my room -finished and she and her husband are working on stuff that needs doing bit by bit. I could help if I was there as I'm very good at wallpaper stripping and painting. Also, they love a couple of hundred yards from the beach, so we'd go and walk a dog there and sit and stare at the sea for a while.

fatzak · 22/04/2020 20:46

I'll see you in Whitby. We'll take our caravan to our favourite site in Robin Hood's Bay and after a day wandering around there and over to Boggle Hole, we'll head over to Whitby for fish and chips and a pint in the pub ( but not the Angel as that's a Weatherspoons and I'm not going there any more) I'll be sad that we haven't been able to go back to Mother Ivey's Bay in Cornwall, but need my fix of Whitby at least twice a year.

Fedupandpoor · 22/04/2020 20:47

Pack the kids in the car and drive to the beach, any beach. Drink cold beers and eat crisps. Then go for lunch at a pub on the way back, drink wine. Transfer sleeping kids straight into bed then crack open the gin. I'm not the designated driver by the way!
