CHIPPY TEA TONIGHT!!!!

CCaK · 18/04/2020 15:58

Fuck I'm excited. Haven't had a chippy dinner in over a month and our local has now reopened for contactless deliveries.

Fuck me, what do I have? Does this justify fish AND a battered sausage?

Best thing to happen all week.

YABVVVU

PickAChew · 18/04/2020 17:12

We had fish and chips in the week leading up to lockdown because we weren't sure when we'd get another chance. We do have a couple of chippies opening at weekends but not nice ones :(

Our actifry has seen a lot of action.

Thisisitisit · 18/04/2020 17:12

Ahhhh our local is closed (understandly), but if they did open to do contactless I would be there for cod, chips, curry sauce and a picked egg for sure. It used to be our Saturday treat, I do miss it.

heidihigh · 18/04/2020 17:13

Oh I've fancied a chippy all week! None open round these parts though, so jealous. Enjoy!

AngryBananaSund · 18/04/2020 17:15

salad cream and fish

I mean...what...why...

Dk20 · 18/04/2020 17:15

Were getting one tonight aswell. I'm just feeling fed up today and it will cheer me up.
Havent decided what to have yet though Smile

Butterymuffin · 18/04/2020 17:15

@1forsorrow I love a pensioner special! Bread and butter and mushy peas are a must.

pinkblanchmange · 18/04/2020 17:15

Fish, chips, peas, curry sauce, buttered barm, can of dandelion and burdock

Rockbird · 18/04/2020 17:16

@AmelieTaylor both vulnerable alas. Did think of sticking a sign in the window asking if anyone was going to the chip shop! Grin

ellanwood · 18/04/2020 17:17

Our chippy is closed. But we do have a local Chinese takeaway still doing crispy duck pancakes and salt and pepper ribs, so can't complain. (Had a takeaway yesterday.)

FourDecades · 18/04/2020 17:20

I had an Indian the other day....and ordered chips to go with it. Was bloody heaven

FourDecades · 18/04/2020 17:21

Have cooked sizzling summer cod tonight

NewYearNewTwatName · 18/04/2020 17:24

Oh I was just saying to DH that I would love a chippy tea. the local chippy is open but its doesn't do normal chippy chips the are stupid secret recipe crispy coated chips, which also give me belly ache.

if I were back up north I'd have patty and chips with scraps and curry sauce and maybe fluffy buttered nap to with it.
and tin of ice cold coke.

NewYearNewTwatName · 18/04/2020 17:25

*bap. bloody auto correct

lotusbell · 18/04/2020 17:27

I wanted a Chinese via Jyst Eat but my local is closed and no other ones open in our area so we've settled for a pizza. Exciting but not quite what I wanted.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 18/04/2020 17:28

We had a massive curry takeaway yesterday. Was going to be Chinese, but weirdly almost all the Chinese takeaways have shut, apart from a handful of not very good ones. All the other takeaways are business as usual.

We have a very good chip shop near us, but they only do minted mushy peas. Mint! With fish! Why.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 18/04/2020 17:28

Ooo enjoy Ccak!!

Totally on my bucket list even before covid, but asap I'm going on holiday to Scotland to get me a mahoosive munchie box! Deep fried everything!!!!

Yes, plus curry sauce and rag pudding or holland's steak & kidney pudding if they do them😋and mushy peas of course

AvonBarksdale99 · 18/04/2020 17:33

I’ve literally never heard it called a ‘chippy tea’ before?! Is that northern thing?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/04/2020 17:36

Go for it!

Chips, fish, battered sausage AND a pickled onion!

You lucky bugger!

Twospaniels · 18/04/2020 17:37

I would love fish n chips or Dominos but do none of you worry about bringing the packaging into your homes?
How do you know the delivery person is not a carrier? Or the person who made the food?
I’m very jealous but as my husband is in the vulnerable category nothing is coming into our house until it has sat in the garage untouched for 72 hours.
I don’t fancy leaving fish n chips in the garage for 72 hours before I can eat them! Yuk!
Enjoy your food everyone, I hope it is safe.

OldLace · 18/04/2020 17:37

I live in a teensy village in Northumberland.
Our local chippy is run by a lovely man, who totally funds a Children's Christmas Party and a Pensioners Christmas party each year with lovely food, local music and beautifully wrapped gifts - it's amazing!
Additionally, he cooks fresh fish to order in beer batter in lard and amazing chips. £3.50 for an adult portion the size of a whale, so we have kids portions. So fish and chips for 4 with mushy peas for £15!!

JUST before lockdown he sold his business to a young couple and was training them up. Its closed right now I think but I do hope it opens again (tourist area, currently hit hard) and that they do well.

I'd love a Chippy Tea to support his business right now (& the taste)!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/04/2020 17:38

Oh - and a bag of batter!

Don't forget to ask for an extra bag of batter- it's the best bit (how did I forget? )
