Or white or whatever takes your fancy? How was your day?
Emotional, weird day today but came home, did the usual decontamination routine which allowed me to cry in the shower before seeing the kids and have now binge watched crap telly and feeling more positive with the prospect of a weekend off.

Am going to try hard to avoid the news, social media and texts from colleagues and try to pretend the C word doesn’t exist!

Cheers WineWineBrewBrew

I am completely jet lagged after finishing my night duty stint in ICU. Just about to go to bed. Might have a glass of something tomorrow. You enjoy yours.

bloodyhellsbellsx · 17/04/2020 22:05

White for me please!
Our place is weird, like we’re all waiting for something to happen. Wards all reconfigured, staff redeployed, theatre turned into ITU beds but things are still calm at the minute!
As soon as I get home I run upstairs to the shower without touching DH or the baby, it’s really messing up my hair washing schedule too!!

HCA here, I'll have a white wine please. I'm working on a Covid ward, today was quite stressful for several reasons. But I now have 3 days off. Smile

PigInASlanket · 17/04/2020 22:11

RMN here. Currently isolating with a cough and desperate to be back at work, but can't be tested so having to wait it out.

Waving across the barricades to all my general colleagues and sending a carafe your way Wine

Nurse here but on the education and research side. My back out paid to clinical working a while ago. Having a whisky today after launching a covid related research study today🥃

LittleMissLumpy · 17/04/2020 22:26

You're all incredible, overworked, and underappreciated! 💋

FoxtrotOscarPoppet · 17/04/2020 22:29

Not a nurse either but you lot are absolutely AMAZING!!!!! 👍👏

ClockworkNightingale · 17/04/2020 22:29

Thought about opening some wine tonight but was too tired to countenance the extra trip to the kitchen... stayed on the settee daydreaming about a boring office job instead!

slavetothenhs · 17/04/2020 22:30

Can I have a massive gin? I'm a HCA on a covid ward, just did 3 long days, we lost 5 patients yesterday. I spent a large amount of the day holding patients hands despite being told not to spend too much time in the bay. It's tough for sure. Today has been my day off and I haven't really wanted to speak to anyone.

WeakAsIAm · 17/04/2020 22:31

Gonna join you in a tipple, paeds here so not facing anything like the adults side. Humbled greatly by everyone working with the adults, I'm very proud to consider myself your colleague.

mypoorfurbaby · 17/04/2020 22:36

Can I join you with a rum? I'm not a nurse or HCA - I'm in charge of sourcing PPE at our place and these past few weeks have been so stressful my alopecia has flared and I'm literally loosing my hair over it all.

FinanciallyUnsavvy · 17/04/2020 22:37

I’ve had far too much to drink tonight. Had ITU training today, turned up for it this morning only to be told our hospital is going to be turned into all ITU beds if needed.
Hats off to all of you who work in ITU, I had to choke back tears during some of the training today. And I work on a Covid ward, I can’t imagine what it’s like for those of you dealing with vented patients every shift. Very un-MN hugs for you all 😘

greensnail · 17/04/2020 22:38

Gin please. Palliative care nurse, feeling exhausted.

DdJames · 17/04/2020 22:43

I'm enjoying a large post nights vodka.

Having done 11 12.5hr shifts in the last 14 days I'm feeling pretty exhausted. Like someone up thread I'm paeds, hats off and the upmost respect to those working in adults x

RiverCityFan · 17/04/2020 22:44

I'll join you with a glass of red!
I started a new job and was immediately redeployed to a medical ward. I haven't worked on the wards for 30 years! It has been a VERY steep learning curve.

HollowTalk · 17/04/2020 22:44

You're doing such a fantastic job at the most difficult time of our lives. We really do appreciate you all. Flowers

Lemonblast · 17/04/2020 22:48

Slave it’s the hand holding ( or not!) that I’m finding the one of the most difficult things to deal with Sad

I had a lovely day off today as on all weekend. Lots of jigsaw puzzles, crap tv and junk food, and a snuggly nap on the sofa with the toddler. She’s in a new childcare setting due to COVID closures so needed some one on one mummy time!
Work is weird, not busy at the moment as have had a clear out ready for the surge. It feels like the calm before the storm as we are in an area with less cases than elsewhere. We want to be in the thick of it, doing what we were trained to do but also relieved that most people are currently healthy here at the moment. Very high elderly population though so watch this space!
I had a wine in front of the tv tonight but now to catch up on some sleep before the weekend begins. Cheers to you all and hats off to those of you under real pressure at the moment

Crikey0000 · 17/04/2020 22:53

MH nurse here, trying to support patients & ward staff with coping with covid. It's so tough in health care at the moment. Can't relate at all to the tales of endless lockdown, bored of listening to celeb tales of their creativity in the media .We're all working so hard it's exhausting. It feels endless .

Onewomanbadtan · 17/04/2020 22:55

Gin for me please and whatever crap is on the telly that has nothing to do with hospitals.

Somanythingsmakemesad · 17/04/2020 23:02

Just to say thank you all so much for everything you are doing, 3 nurses in the family so am hearing and worrying about it all so much. Massive love and appreciation FlowersWineBrewCake
