Or white or whatever takes your fancy? How was your day?
Emotional, weird day today but came home, did the usual decontamination routine which allowed me to cry in the shower before seeing the kids and have now binge watched crap telly and feeling more positive with the prospect of a weekend off.

Am going to try hard to avoid the news, social media and texts from colleagues and try to pretend the C word doesn’t exist!

Cheers WineWineBrewBrew

Oops! Hope you're not feeling too fuzzy. Have a Brew instead Grin

PigInASlanket · 18/04/2020 08:57

Bottomplasters - you really didn't need to say you're an RMN.... We could have worked it out from your username and the use of the word "settled" Grin

ChestyNut · 18/04/2020 09:25

Checking in....is it too early for wine yet?

Is anyone else crying at EVERYTHING?

slavetothenhs · 18/04/2020 10:08

@chestynut yes I've had a good cry this morning Flowers

RoxytheRexy · 18/04/2020 10:12

I’m an ITU nurse and things are bonkers. I’m on a night shift tonight and could cry at the thought.

Husband is still working from home or out on site and we have a 4 year old and a 1 year old. 1 year old can still go to childminder but there’s no options that fit in with mine and my husbands work. I am so knackered.

I’ve got a week of leave in 3 weeks time and I’m praying they let me take it

bloodyhellsbellsx · 18/04/2020 10:13

Ah you girls doing the hand holding of the dying on the wards are amazing! I’m a specialist nurse based down in A&E and I see how scared the patients are coming in alone, it must be so awful up on the wards knowing they are seriously ill/dying but family are unable to be with them, you are all angels Flowers

Toddlerteaplease · 18/04/2020 10:14

I'd rather have a skinny latte please. I hate wine! We've been really quiet. We had decamped to the ward next door, because it has side rooms. So we can take the cystic fibrosis kids. Their usual ward has been turned into the civic ward. Though we've only had about four confirmed. So at least we now feel like we are actually doing something useful, instead of colouring!

ifyoulikepinacolada · 18/04/2020 10:14

Not a nurse but just popping in to buy the next round - it’s behind the bar for whenever you can take it!

Thank you for all that you do.

Toddlerteaplease · 18/04/2020 10:14

Waves to @WeakAsIAm

Toddlerteaplease · 18/04/2020 10:17

@Ddjames, who on earth allowed that? Are you in the UK?

Bottomplasters · 18/04/2020 10:22

Pigs 😂 no concerns to raise here!

I feel a bit of a fraud when we get clapped!

Bluemascara4 · 18/04/2020 10:25

Good morning all.... is it too early to start on the white wine?
RGN here working on Covid ward . Day off today but yesterday was tough and today I can't stop crying .
Hugs to everyone

Tootyfilou · 18/04/2020 10:28

Midwife here, massive thanks for all that you are doing. Lots of terrified pregnant women but nothing like you are dealing with. Love to you all.x

bookish83 · 18/04/2020 10:46

Thank you to you all in whichever capacity you work in. I can't imagine the simultaneous fear for yourself and the patients you must have. Totally different to 'normal' work.

The hand holding for patients had me in tears but what a rewarding and significant role you have.

NHS worker too but currently on mat leave.

X

Red please! Mental Health Nurse here. It's scary going into work every day isn't it. Many of our patients have no idea whatsoever about social distancing, many will come right up to you and touch you without a seconds thought and for many there is no thought whatsoever given to washing hands, covering the mouth while coughing etc. Due to their mental state, no matter how many times you tell them, it doesn't really sink in.

Thank you to all nurses (and other healthcare colleagues) who are doing a bloody amazing job in such difficult circumstances. I'm not an overly religious person but I am praying most nights that we all stay safe. It breaks my heart every time to hear of yet another casualty of this awful disease within the nursing family.

milkysmum · 18/04/2020 10:55

Mental health nurse here. I manage a mental health residential unit so not front line like some of you but we are still really feeling it to a significant degree. Our residents don't really all understand the need to follow government guidance, so it's an anxious time for all. We are used to encouraging our residents to access the community so now trying to get them to stay in doors is a real challenge.

Lemonblast · 18/04/2020 11:05

Chestynut yes to crying.
Crying at sad stuff. Crying at happy stuff. Crying at the clapping. Crying at the size of my arse in my hand made scrubs Wink

Milkysmum our teams are being supported by sone of our redeployed mental health colleagues and I think going forward, our mental health teams will be at the forefront of our health service.
We’ve also got RMNs deployed to frontline trauma teams to try and address the needs of distressed family members who aren’t able yo visit. We truly are all in this together!

Care home nurse manager here. Feeling like hiding under the duvet most mornings. Finding the weight of trying to protect my team and residents heavy. Covering the floor when we’re short of CA or RN and all the reporting that we’re required to do plus admission of new residents . Currently Covid free but were in the midst of it a few weeks ago before care homes were hitting headlines. No support from PHE or CCG. Heartbreaking for my team, residents who died and their families. Wine for me tonight and raising a glass to the rest of you 🍷

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 18/04/2020 15:57

Gin and tonic for me tonight when I finish.

Mental health nurse here in an acute inpatient setting, do have suspected cases isolated and it is incredibly stressful😩
There was a really good article on the guardian about Covid19 and mental health wards, I’ll try and find it.

I was in shock after my shift yesterday, drank far too much when I got home last night so didn’t see this thread. Blush

Having a much needed day off though have been on the phone to 3 different wards and am my laptop most of the day but at least I’m at home.

Will try to drink less tonight. Grin

cptartapp · 18/04/2020 16:37

Prosecco for me. I work in general practice and although we have made huge preparations to assess a potential influx of Covid cases, we have never been so quiet. GP's too. All routine stuff stopped. It's very unsettling though.
Hats off to you all at the coal face.

bloodyhellsbellsx · 18/04/2020 18:05

Our trust has today backtracked on banning all end of life covid patients from having visitors, I’m so happy they’ve decided to allow these poor patients and families their final goodbyes, it was inhumane!

The Sauvignon blanc is open again, cheers to you all🥂

Lemonblast · 18/04/2020 18:15

Prosecco with a raspberry tonight Wink

SauvignonBlanche · 18/04/2020 18:46

Guess what I’m drinking? Grin
