Or white or whatever takes your fancy? How was your day?
Emotional, weird day today but came home, did the usual decontamination routine which allowed me to cry in the shower before seeing the kids and have now binge watched crap telly and feeling more positive with the prospect of a weekend off.

Am going to try hard to avoid the news, social media and texts from colleagues and try to pretend the C word doesn’t exist!

Bloodyhells it’s still going to be so hard though. Families will have to decide who is going to visit-there’s no way it can be the whole family Sad

I'll be having a Buck's Fizz when the children are asleep. I am an RMN by trade but am currently part of the 'Covid Discharge Team' working in the general and community hospitals doing fast tracks (for people at the end of life) and getting people home or in care homes.

We are swabbing everyone going to care homes and only discharging with a negative swab.

EstherLittle · 18/04/2020 19:05

My sister in law is a nurse in a care home and she’s just amazing as are all of you.

Happy to buy another round and does anyone need snacks?

bellalou1234 · 18/04/2020 19:06

I'll join you, finished night shift this morning, ld tomorrow so I'm only allowed 1 glass. I work with covid in a mental health setting.

stairway · 18/04/2020 19:09

Anyone been swabbed for Covid yet? My Dh is bring swabbed tomorrow but his symptoms seem to have disappeared. I keep getting on and off symptoms, wondering if it is paranoia now.

Somanythingsmakemesad · 18/04/2020 19:09

I want to buy you all drinks and tea forever. I'm feeling tearful just reading your thread - feel so useless just 'staying at home' wish I could help you in there making you all tea or holding someone's hand, we are all thinking of you and thanking you from the bottom of our hearts ❤️

Lemonblast · 18/04/2020 19:14

Esther given that my scrubs are elastic I’m happy to accept Doritos if you have any?

Stairway not swabbed here but of 5 out of 6 of my London based training cohort have tested bloody positive this week Sad All doing ok so far and none in hospital.

happypotamus · 18/04/2020 19:17

Am off to work now in a children's hospital. My patients are mostly not in hospital because of covid (we have had some) so don't get tested, so no real idea how risky it is, best not to think about it too much.

bloodyhellsbellsx · 18/04/2020 19:20

Oh it’s just so bloody shit!

Do you all know about justeat 25% off for nhs workers, they just send a code to your email. Currently awaiting my Indians 🐷

mbosnz · 18/04/2020 19:25

I wish I could buy you all some very real wine, as much as you wanted. Take care of yourself, and do whatever you need to get you through.

I watched nurses doing the vigil with those who had no-one, as we did the vigil for my Dad. I am in awe of your compassion, your strength, your expertise.

(I'll bugger off now, and let you guys vent and drink in peace.)

DuchessofBolton · 18/04/2020 19:30

Redeployed to a mental health ward, think I got it on the first day. It was chaos, no PPE but positive patients. Couldn’t get tested as it was drive through only. Been feeling like crap for two weeks but think I’m on the mend now.
Flowers Wine to everyone

mogloveseggs · 18/04/2020 19:31

Another non NHS just popping in to leave a round in the pumps when you're ready for it
You're all bloody amazing

30under · 18/04/2020 19:33

God yes. Red for me. On days off after 4 night shifts. I used to only work 2 shifts a week.

30under · 18/04/2020 19:33

(ICU nurse)

PigInASlanket · 18/04/2020 19:42

No test for me - harumpf. Our trust (county wide but not general acute - think MH/LD/Primary care) have only 7 tests per day so I guess I wasn't priority enough.

@Lemonblast Thankyou for not dismissing us MH staff. I know the current campaigns/claps are for those truly at the coalface right now. And well deserved they are too. But like a PP, I struggle to connect with it, as I know it's not aimed at us.
Our hard times will come after, when the emotional toll weighs on the masses. Trauma, grief and a financial depression will hit us hard. That's before we even start our work with the people with SMIs who have become unwell/neglected themselves whilst we haven't been able to keep as close an eye as we'd like to.

Gammeldragz · 18/04/2020 19:44

Red wine here. I'm a Practice Nurse so not at all front line, huge thanks to all of you who are xxx

Neuronurse · 18/04/2020 19:48

I'm having G&T's post night shift sleep. Looking forward to a couple of days with the household before I'm back to the wards.
Cheers everyone Gin

I am on a weekend off. Mental health liaison , we are seeing an increase in people coming to A&E with severe mental illness. Not sure that the policy of community mental health team doing almost all phone contacts is working. I find wearing a mask so hot and am grateful I can take it off more often than those on the wards where it is so warm. I would like a fancy cocktail 🍸.

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 18/04/2020 20:47

Another one who's popping in to say a massive a thank you and the next round is on me 🍺🍹🍸🥃🍷🥂Wine
