Why are you awake?

JustStayHome · 11/04/2020 05:39

Just that really.

Its 5.40am on Easter Saturday (If that's even a thing)

I'm currently shielding, so I'm waiting for a shop to go online at 6am so i can order some things i need...

I should of gone to sleep, and set my alarm for 6 but just kind of accidentally stayed awake.

What's everyone up to?

@Ivebeentohellanditscalledikea please don't lie awake worrying about school work. In my normal pre covid life im a TA but i’d stopped work to renovate my house. But honestly all the schools know that all of their children will need support back in the classroom. If you are managing to even READ the classwork set with you DC’s then you will be doing more than a lot of parents. There will be a huge spectrum of work being completed (or not) and honestly what I have found is cherry pick the work that they can do, and want to do. If there’s work that causes upset and arguments Ive found with my girls its usually because they cant grasp it, I cant explain it like their teacher would and they cry and argue to mask their lack of confidence. On those tasks ive sent them back in with a note saying we couldnt approach it. My yr3 daughter couldnt grasp time and more and more was arriving and more and more tears. And Im a TA of course I can teach it to her but I sent the work back with a note and focused on more subtle ways of supporting her by using clocks etc throughout the day. If you dont manage the work, no-one is judging I promise you. Do what you can to keep home learning light and fun.

@Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse Im going round and round with 111, my own GP and resorted to a private BUPA appointment. I dont want to scare anyone on here with details but im 28 days post viral after Covid and cant feel my legs properly. And I cant get anyone to see me for a reflex text that two GP’s say i need. Today may be the day for A&E but 111 wont let me just go there.

JillyWillyPops · 20/04/2020 05:42

Current sat on the children's ward with my 9 year old after spending the night in A&E

Was woken up at 2am with him having a seizure, the only one he's ever had.

I've never been so scared in all my life. He's now sat up in bed colouring like nothing's ever happened. Sad

TheDrsWife46 · 20/04/2020 05:45

@JillyWillyPops how utterly frightening. You must be sitting there feeling shell shocked to have seen something so traumatic and now he’s playing. Im not expert but is this past the stage of febrile convulsions? Have they said what could have caused it.

How is the hospital? Is it more frightening for him with all PPE etc?

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 20/04/2020 05:48

@ TheDrsWife46 I’m sorry to hear 111 have been unable to help you. Hopefully after telephone appointment with GP they will send you to A&E. Stay strong your doing so well not long to go. Please keep us updated Flowers

JillyWillyPops · 20/04/2020 05:50

Yeah they've said that febrile convulsions normally don't happen past 5. All his stats are normal, ecg was fine, no reason at all for the fit so we're having to stay in for observations.

The hospital is very weirdly quiet, there is hardly anyone here. I saw one other person in A&E and we are the only people on the children's ward.

To be fair he wasn't bothered by the masks, he understands why they're having to wear them, it was very strange arriving at hospital and they've got what looks like big portaloos outside marked up with covid 19 holding pods Confused.

The staff have been absolutely amazing.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 20/04/2020 05:53

@ JillyWillyPops sorry you had to go through that but glad your child is now alert Flowers

TheDrsWife46 · 20/04/2020 06:02

@JillyWillyPops I dont normally come on this thread I was just desperate and frightened. But you’ve reassured me that A&E will be pretty calm if I go? Although it sounds like im getting shoved in a loo when if I get there!

TheDrsWife46 · 20/04/2020 06:03

I really hope he gets a clean bill of health and you can come home soon. X

JillyWillyPops · 20/04/2020 06:05

@TheDrsWife46 honestly, the hospitals are so quiet just now and they are urging people to go if you need to.

From quickly reading, if you've already had the virus, you'd go staring into the 'clean' A&E and not into one of the pods. I'm assuming that they're for people showing symptoms.

TheDrsWife46 · 20/04/2020 06:09

@JillyWillyPops yes I started 29 days ago, another day forwards, and dont have any Covid type symptoms other than a chronic shaking all over my body affecting my legs. Im more scared that I assume im not contagious at 29 days but how do we know. And im absolutely petrified to go there alone and have to argue for help when im now at my most desperate having managed at home for a month.

Frownette · 20/04/2020 06:18

Do you have to be up early, @ClientQ?

Stronger76 · 20/04/2020 06:47

I took dd out to watch the sunrise. She even managed to set her alarm for 4am in case I accidentally forgot. It was eerily still and quiet outside.

TheDrsWife46 · 20/04/2020 06:53

@Stronger76 i wish i’d thought to do that. I desperate for daytime to come

ClientQ · 20/04/2020 07:30

@Frownette I didn't but I'm up! My injection was a bad one so I've got up for a cup of tea and some painkillers

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 20/04/2020 10:28

@ TheDrsWife46 how are you holding up?

TheDrsWife46 · 20/04/2020 10:34

@Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse

Not very well really. GP is treating me like a total nuisance and agreed to see me at 4pm. Ive tried to sleep and cant. Im very frightened.

JustStayHome · 20/04/2020 14:36

@TheDrsWife46
Im so sorry you are struggling.

I hope the GP helps you .
But your legs are a new problem and not necessarily related to covid-19 , you dont need permission from 111....
Just go to the hospital, wear a mask, and hopefully they will see you...
Thinking of you 💐

TheDrsWife46 · 20/04/2020 15:02

@JillyWillyPops just to say thankyou for reassurinb me that A&E was empty. It gave me the courage as @JustStayHome suggested to just get up and go to A&E I burst into tears on triage and they have been so so lovely. Still here waiting. I dont think im gonna end up with answers other than post viral, and i wont cope when its bad again at night but to know ive had heart, lungs, bloods all checked is more than Ive had in a month.

TheDrsWife46 · 20/04/2020 15:03

@JillyWillyPops hope DS is doing okay. If your in Leicester Royal heres a little wave xx

JustStayHome · 20/04/2020 17:36

@TheDrsWife46

Atleast if its post viral, its reassuring and sometimes thats all we need.

Hope everything goes ok 💐🍰

@TheDrsWife46 how did it go?

How was the night @JustStayHome?

I've been up since 3.30am, going to get a cup of tea shortly

TheDrsWife46 · 21/04/2020 13:24

Hello everyone, thanks for the support I had on here. A&E was super quiet. So quiet that they had workmen making improvements to the waiting area whilst empty (sectioned off). I was there from 11.30-4.30 but in all that time i was being actively observed/tested. Had neurology, bloods, bladder scan, basic obs and came back fine. They think i have post viral myelinitis which I panicked about. Last night I took half a diazepam that I had from a flight in July with permission from the dr. It didnt take the horrible tremors/electrical buzzing sensations away but it DID help me doze through them. Today my GP is calling to give me advice about something to help me cope long term.

Ive been on the lungs threads for a month. But it was only @JillyWillyPops post that made me think A&E sounds really empty and I’m desperate. It was eerie, literally all staff and no patients. I sat in the waiting areas with four porters that had no-where to go. Im no where near better but hospital gave me lots of reassurance. Thank you x
