Why are you awake?

JustStayHome · 11/04/2020 05:39

Just that really.

Its 5.40am on Easter Saturday (If that's even a thing)

I'm currently shielding, so I'm waiting for a shop to go online at 6am so i can order some things i need...

I should of gone to sleep, and set my alarm for 6 but just kind of accidentally stayed awake.

What's everyone up to?

I did a long run yesterday evening and have an awful tummy upset as a result, feeling quite blergh.

JustStayHome · 20/04/2020 02:58

@PatchworkElmeroh oh no, Why does a run upset your stomach?

PatchworkElmer · 20/04/2020 03:02

@Just, it’s the first time it’s happened (longest I’ve ever run). My runner friend tells me that “runner’s tummy” is a thing apparently- lots of people get it during or after. I think it’s probably because of the high impact jostling of the intestine that goes on when you run- seems likely anyway as cyclists don’t get it.

I will look at what I eat beforehand too, try to keep it bland and protein-rich instead of fibre-based. But if this happens again then I will be dialling back the distance- which is a shame because I’m almost at a half marathon length now.

JustStayHome · 20/04/2020 03:06

@PatchworkElmer
Hopefully its a one off...

Maybe you can run the marathon next year 🏃🏃‍♀️🎽

I'm just irritated with everything, especially the person in my bed. I want to sleep alone and it's impossible.

PatchworkElmer · 20/04/2020 03:11

@JustStayHome I hope so- I like running and have been quite pleased with how I’ve been able to increase my distance. But equally I’ve got to be up with DS at 7, then work all afternoon- so this isn’t a good way to live if it carries on.

@missmouse- sofa? Even if you just sit up and read a book?

JustStayHome · 20/04/2020 03:19

@PatchworkElmer
Indeed not, Your going to be shattered....

@missmouse101
Can you make a bed on the sofa or on the floor somewhere...
Iv got use to not sharing the bed now, and don't think i could ever go back to it
Hope you are ok 💐

Hi patchwork, I'm on it now but it's so small and uncomfortable and I need to sleep really. Sad It's comforting to know others are awake out there too!

PatchworkElmer · 20/04/2020 03:27

@missmouse oh no, feel for you.

I’m comforted by this thread too- sometimes I feel like I’m the only one awake in the whole world. This helps.

Going to take it ‘easy’ at work today, and do some catch up jobs rather than launching full tilt at our new project... I had a big deadline on Friday so nothing hugely urgent for the next couple of days, thank goodness.

ironicname · 20/04/2020 03:29

Checking in. I had a good nights sleep yesterday, but I'd stayed up until 2.

missmouse101 · 20/04/2020 03:34

Good luck Patchwork. It'll feel good to tidy up loose ends. @Just stay home-you're so right about the bed. Enjoy your blissful space all to yourself. Smile

AvalancheKit · 20/04/2020 03:44

Light sleeper, heard some movement outside, probably a deer. Now looking at the stars and tracking them on SkyView. Antares is some 540 light years away. It’s enormous.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 20/04/2020 04:47

@ AvalancheKit sounds very interesting.

ScrumptiousBears · 20/04/2020 04:49

I think I've had 3.5 hours sleep. My oldest DD 5 has been up past midnight worrying about friendships for some reason. I set my alarm for 5am so I could start work as I also have to homeschool as well as getting an 8 hour day in. About an hour ago my heating came on and woke me up. DP can always manage to sleep but makes out he's the hard done by one. He can go out to work so no childcare/homeschooling/wfh for him.

TheDrsWife46 · 20/04/2020 04:58

Is anyone available just to hold my hand. Im usually on the lungs threads as have suspected Covid and very frightened managing at home. Only thing that helps is being able to just reach out when im lonely and scared.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 20/04/2020 05:05

@ ScrumptiousBears try not to put to much pressure on yourself regarding education side as your DD is still young. I take my hat off to all those WFH and juggling childcare, education and household chores. Is your DH helping when he gets home? Flowers

LeeHarper5 · 20/04/2020 05:07

TheDrsWife46 here is a virtual hand hold from me.

Ivebeentohellanditscalledikea · 20/04/2020 05:08

Been awake since 4 worrying about school work starting again. The last two weeks have been lovely unlike the first three that saw my middle son having violent meltdowns.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 20/04/2020 05:09

@ TheDrsWife46 I’m awake and I hope your ok.Flowers

Callimanco · 20/04/2020 05:19

I am vaguely itchy. Struggled to get to sleep because of heartburn. Think I've had about 3.5 hours. It's probably really that I am back to work and homeschooling 4 kids today.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 20/04/2020 05:22

@ Ivebeentohellanditscalledikea please do not stress about education so much. I know easier said then done when it comes to our DC but my eldest DC was getting so stressed out with amount being given. I’m refusing to go back to how it was before the two weeks off. A family member who’s a headteacher and my sister who’s a teacher have said that as long as children are doing a little everyday that’s all that matters, we can not recreate the whole school day as it’s not realistic.

Have a routine but mix it up a little, have maths followed by some creative time then maybe some English followed by some outside fun. Each child learns differently. I have one academic DC and one that’s learns better being more hands on.

TheDrsWife46 · 20/04/2020 05:24

@Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse @LeeHarper5 thankyou so much. I just need to stay calm until daylight and dh is up and the GP opens but its really difficult in the dark

LeeHarper5 · 20/04/2020 05:30

@TheDrsWife46 not too much longer to go.
I had a bad dream and woke around 3.50. It’s been a regular thing the past few nights.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 20/04/2020 05:33

@ TheDrsWife46 NHS online service 111 are available if you need to speak to someone. Try to stay calm and I hope your comfortable. Use paracetamol to help easy any discomfort or temperature.
