Very pleasing things that have happened today? .

I have just fitted a new kitchen bin into the bin cupboard. The previous one has been fucked on it's last legs for about 4 years. Slightly wonky, draggy to pull out, the lid would fall in...just rubbish really (>

So it finally really broke a few days ago. Ordered a new on (sorry to the "You can only order a left kidney and food brigade" )and it arrived today. A total doddle to fit.

And it opens. Smoothly. No wriggling/yanking/rearranging of lid to get it open and closed. It is truly bringing me pleasure.

I nearly thought about attaching a video to show how pleasing it was. But then I realised that was bloody dull and bit mad a bit odd, as not having experienced the hell of the old bin, you would not necessarily appreciate the smoothness of the new bin.

What things have pleased you today? However small or dull they may seem - what has made you happy?

Just the weather being nice and warm and sunny. Sat on the bench in my garden for a while just soaking up the rays. So peaceful

DH was going to decorate DC's bedroom.innEaster hols, everything was in garage ready to go, so instead I emptied the room Thursday, painted Friday and have just put furniture back in. It looks ace, I am massively pleased with myself.

Also, DC's are both watching Muppet movie with me and enjoying it.

Arranged a coffee morning with the neighbours for tomorrow, sitting on our own drives, making most of the 🌞

I have just found a carton of pasatta in the cupboard to use towards tea...I thought I had used the last one a few weeks ago. It made me happy (and my sauce looks much better now!)

AhoyMrBeaver · 04/04/2020 16:46

I hoovered under my bed. So bloody satisfying, and very rarely gets to the top of my to do list.

mnahmnah · 04/04/2020 16:48

My boys haven’t physically fought today. My eldest hasn’t been rude or cheeky. My husband hasn’t been grumpy. Hurrah!

Twospaniels · 04/04/2020 16:51

We managed a 5 mile walk today in the beautiful sunshine. We only met one other person and we skirted round her at a distance whilst greeting her.
And yes, we could do this walk from home, we didn’t drive anywhere. We feel very lucky to live so rurally at this time especially

Taking advantage of the current lack of DGC to lay weed suppressant and re-bark chip the area of the garden where their swing is.

Dylanpickle · 04/04/2020 16:56

Our very dear friends, who we have not seen for far too long messaged us to arrange a catch up and we have had the most lovely video call with them today.

We have roared with laughter & reminised, a true tonic. Goodness I miss them!

I repotted a succulent that has successfully overgrown a glass lantern, it's really beautiful now I can see it properly!

ScrapThatThen · 04/04/2020 17:01

And if I am allowed two I made a really nice carrot cake with pistachio crumble and we had coffee and cake in the garden.

Had time, patience and zen to tackle the really tricky knitting pattern I’ve been working on for almost a year. It was only supposed to take a week to make.

Gramgram · 04/04/2020 17:04

The washing dried on the line. Also while on my walk, I saw two yellow brimstone butterflies, two peacock butterflies and a cabbage white.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/04/2020 17:04

Managed to go for a walk without DC’s trying to kill each other and did flat pack without swearing

ChoporNot · 04/04/2020 17:09

Oh, these are all lovely. And much better than my bin. Though I do love my new bin.

Keep them coming please, this is really brightening up what has been a tough week or so.

the children are at their dads without me for the first time in three weeks 6 days.

Bliss. not for long as he does not have enough food in to feed them meals. we are trying not to shop for as long as possible to protect dd.

bananamonkey · 04/04/2020 17:12

Cleaned out the kitchen cupboards, my list of maternity leave jobs has gone to shit with nursery closed but today I had the chance and it was satisfying.

It was warm enough to get the water table out in the garden which kept DC1 entertained for a good 2 hours and we’ve been out here all afternoon in the sunshine.

BolloxtoGender · 04/04/2020 17:13

I got DH to jet wash the decking area, I’ve done a general garden tidy up and moved and replanted a rose, fingers crossed it will establish.

I’m now sitting in my ‘egg’ swing chair on my decking with a cup of tea, admiring my garden in the sunshine.

WickedlyPetite · 04/04/2020 17:16

I was sorting through all our coats and found £27.48 (and about 70 dog poo bags) in various pockets.

justforthisnow · 04/04/2020 17:20

I washed the doggos bed and it smells divine now. I also installed a second monitor in home office that works, last one was 14 years old and couldnt speak Surface Pro.
This will make a massive difference to my work! (Cancer related). Makes me so so happy.

justforthisnow · 04/04/2020 17:21

@chopornot best thread idea for these times, thanks, love reading all the nice things Flowers

foxyknoxy30 · 04/04/2020 17:22

Cleaned out my fridge badly needed doing and looks gleaming

foxyknoxy30 · 04/04/2020 17:24

Oh and my son and I built a lego porche and ferrari

BloomedAgain · 04/04/2020 17:24

I weeded the garden in the sunshine. Will plant some veg seeds saved from last year.

DearTeddyRobinson · 04/04/2020 17:26

Finally got round to cleaning my silver jewellery, and weeded/tidied up the front garden so it looks very smart. DH has been sanding the floor so the house is covered in dust but it's going to look ace once he's oiled the floor. We've been meaning to get round to this for about 3 years!!
