Very pleasing things that have happened today? .

I have just fitted a new kitchen bin into the bin cupboard. The previous one has been fucked on it's last legs for about 4 years. Slightly wonky, draggy to pull out, the lid would fall in...just rubbish really (>

So it finally really broke a few days ago. Ordered a new on (sorry to the "You can only order a left kidney and food brigade" )and it arrived today. A total doddle to fit.

And it opens. Smoothly. No wriggling/yanking/rearranging of lid to get it open and closed. It is truly bringing me pleasure.

I nearly thought about attaching a video to show how pleasing it was. But then I realised that was bloody dull and bit mad a bit odd, as not having experienced the hell of the old bin, you would not necessarily appreciate the smoothness of the new bin.

What things have pleased you today? However small or dull they may seem - what has made you happy?

I had a nap when the toddler did.

We thoroughly cleaned the house. It’s sparkling now and smells lovely. Dd also had her online ballet lesson which she absolutely loved. The last lesson was a different type of dance and she found it quite challenging, but her confidence is back after today’s class. The kids are having an early together and dh and I will eat later in front of the TV. Doing Thai green curry because the kids don’t like it.

A clinical psychologist phoned me - NHS have very quickly arranged for people with severe mental health problems to receive telephone support, whether they were previously being seen by services or not .

Psychologist rang me tonight, chatted away for a good 45 minutes and has promised to ring me again next week . Very kind man, and incredible of him to give up his Saturday afternoon like that .

It was only when hanging up that I realised his name was the exact same as my Granda, who died twenty years ago .

Deep clean of our balcony. It has built up with a green algae on one part! Its a big balcony so it took hours.

My 13 week old puppy taught himself to use our 3 year old, unused-by-previous-dog doggie door, with no dedicated training.

And whilst he did piss in two dog beds and every single blanket I gave him, I've washed everything and it dried on the line. Grin

Don't piss on anything else you little bastard

My new very fluffy slippers made me happy today. It also makes me very happy that they match my new-ish pyjama trousers so well (I am only wearing pyjamas these days - perfect lounge wear!).

Very pleasing things that have happened today? .

Found a bag of porridge oats that I didn't know I had!

I totally get your happiness over the bin. Makes perfect sense to me!

I tidied my dressing table this morning and sat at it reading with a candle lit. Felt lovely.

Also, my 14 month old has figured out playing peekaboo hiding behind her hands. She is just SO gorgeous. I know I'm biased but it's just so very cute.

I’ve started to take an old metal stick out with me on my morning walk & take great pleasure in clearing out any blocked drains I come across with said stick. Next time we get a heavy downpour, the roads round here hopefully won’t flood!

Ds has finished his year 7 science project and submitted it.

Only 6 others to go Grin

I only just realised I haven't worn a watch for two weeks. Lovely not to have a time to stick to

Trooperslaneagain · 04/04/2020 17:53

DD and DH made biscuits.

We went to the allotment and it's looking great for this time of year and it's our first time, so very proud of ourselves.

Bloody freezing here scowls at people with good weather so whilst the oven's heating up I'm going to have a bath to warm up and having freezer chilli with frozen rice so not much work to do.

Chucking DH out for a run/cycle later and I'll be in jammies straight away. Love an excuse to slob out, even though by 10am I have serious cabin fever and need to go for a big walk whilst listening to Woman's Hour.

Stay safe all!

Went for a walk (with appropriate social diatancing) around the village we moved to 2 years ago and discovered a play area and crazy golf course that I never knew existed (both were empty, before anyone asks). DS is far too young for them right now but will be lovely to take him when he's older

MamaBearThius · 04/04/2020 17:57

I'm interested in a video of your smooth operating bin Smile

CoronaIsComing · 04/04/2020 17:59

It’s cold here but I have an amazing stew bubbling away with lots of lovely, big dumplings on top 😋

Giggorata · 04/04/2020 18:03

I made a smoked fish flan and my usually indifferent pastry was really good.
Some wire netting we ordered arrived today, to keep the birds off our seedlings.
We went for a walk along the riverbank with the dogs, throwing sticks into the water for them, which they love.

JellyfishandShells · 04/04/2020 18:06

Made myself boiled egg and marmite soldiers - and the eggs ( 2, she boasted) were perfectly cooked and dippable.

Went for exercise walk along a road that is usually too busy to be pleasurable and enjoyed looking at the quirkiness of the Georgian and Victorian architecture that I never normally get to see when driving along there.

Bluewavescrashing · 04/04/2020 18:08

DH had a bbq with some of the meat that came in our box delivery from the local butcher. It made him really happy as he loves bbqs. Just the 4 of us but never mind! It was very tasty.

I did a nice craft activity with DS which he really enjoyed.

lightlypoached · 04/04/2020 18:15

It was so warm that I washed the dry-clean only sofa covers that the cat had been sick on.

Covered the lounge in feathers but Henry hoover saw to that.

And tidied the garden a bit.

V satisfying

Nice thread thanks.

starlight36 · 04/04/2020 18:18

Kids played in the garden outside for most of the day. Very pleased they were getting fresh air and also nice to not be supervising their work huddled around a table for nog chunks of the day!
Made a cake which used up some butter and eggs that both needed using. Having homemade pizzas for tea.

drspouse · 04/04/2020 18:21

We got a curry for us and the DCs and everyone found something they liked (DS liked both poppadoms and naan which are both new and he's quite suspicious of new food).

fluffysocksgoodbookwine · 04/04/2020 18:24

My wisteria are budding! I planted them 5 years ago, and have trained them into an arch over the patio windows. They’ve never flowered, but now there are lots of feathery purple buds. I’m so excited! I can’t wait for them to flower in a few weeks time. Grin

Ifonlywecouldwishuponastar · 04/04/2020 18:27

I've thrown a load of crap away in the conservatory. It feels so much better.
