Very pleasing things that have happened today? .

I have just fitted a new kitchen bin into the bin cupboard. The previous one has been fucked on it's last legs for about 4 years. Slightly wonky, draggy to pull out, the lid would fall in...just rubbish really (>

So it finally really broke a few days ago. Ordered a new on (sorry to the "You can only order a left kidney and food brigade" )and it arrived today. A total doddle to fit.

And it opens. Smoothly. No wriggling/yanking/rearranging of lid to get it open and closed. It is truly bringing me pleasure.

I nearly thought about attaching a video to show how pleasing it was. But then I realised that was bloody dull and bit mad a bit odd, as not having experienced the hell of the old bin, you would not necessarily appreciate the smoothness of the new bin.

What things have pleased you today? However small or dull they may seem - what has made you happy?

I was very pleased that the chicken biryani I made today came out good even though I had to make quite a few substitutions/omissions due to lack of fresh herbs and so on. And there’s enough left for another lunch or dinner! 👍🍺😊

A kid I was tutoring passed an important exam. Was lovely to break the news to him ( he sat the exam before lockdown) as he had been nervous. Also dp won over 50 quid on the virtual grand national.

@Ninkanink looks lovely! I love a good biryani.
We had a lovely bit of fillet that I had bought for Christmas but couldn’t have. Peppercorn sauce and a bottle of red. Very happy.

My 10 week old DS and 6 year old DS are totally in love with eachother and have spent the day smiling and giggling. I was worried my eldest would not be as enthusiastic when he had 24 hours a day, every day with him. But so far so good.

BikeRunSki · 04/04/2020 21:14

We found a film that everyone (DH and I, ds(12) and DS(8) )agreed to watch, and everyone enjoyed.

I went on a lovely walk with the 3 kids and I’m still cheerful as I went on my weekly shopping trip yesterday and Waitrose had toilet roll 😀

Karmagoat · 04/04/2020 21:18

washed my windows and had a proper deep clean of the house, now relaxing with a nice glass of presecco

I reclined on the sun lounger in the garden in the sun and the dc played and ran around.

I found some frozen mince I’d forgotten about and everyone was so hungry the spaghetti bolognese was seriously appreciated by all.

Just saw the space station from my back garden.

Had a 4kg bag of pancake mix delivered. It only needs water, so eggs, milk, flour!! Made our week! Grin

managedmis · 04/04/2020 21:22

Took the dogs for a walk across the fields, walking along next to a deep ditch with v steep sides, dividing 2 fields. We saw a hare running straight towards us, so we took a firm grasp of the dogs. The hare obviously hadn't noticed us, then it suddenly did and swerved slightly, heading for the ditch. I was expecting it to fall in, but it did a huge and very graceful leap across. It was magical.

Completely trivial, but we have a very old cherry tree in our garden, I was told by an old chap that lived further up the road that it was planted in the orchard of the old house next door (ours are infill), and that he used to play in the orchard with Tom the boy that lived there. So it must be just over 100 years old.
Currently the tree is awash with blossom,. luckily not too affected by the frost earlier in the week. I went down the garden to hang out washing and could hear a loud hum. The tree was heaving with bees, all kinds of bees, on the blossom.

Dd got v excited when we went on a walk and spotted 16 teddies in windows. I CAN SEE A MINIOOOOOON!

haverhill · 04/04/2020 22:35

Cherrysoup it’s Swiss O Par brand.
Make sure you get the full kit not just the dye.

JellyfishandShells · 04/04/2020 22:55

Sat in the garden listening to the bees in the cherry tree - so much busy buzzing . Love the bees! Helped that there was no traffic and no flaming planes, just the sound of children playing and someone further down the street playing the piano beautifully.

Tillygetsit · 05/04/2020 02:19

I made a meatloaf today and the whole family scoffed it down. A mini miracle as dd1 is a very fussy eater.

norbert23 · 05/04/2020 02:23

Tidying up the garden, we found an old bird nest from last summer, it's made from 80% cat hair from my very doddery old cat (who likes to groom himself in the garden) which made us laugh. It's nice to know the birds are enjoying his fluffiness!

Trumpton · 05/04/2020 02:33

Taught myself to crochet this week and made and finished this . So proud . I am 68 and was convinced that crochet was too hard although I do knit .

Got some delicious sourdough from local veg delivery. Lovely day puttering one the gardens with the husband , mum and baby- 11 weeks - his first garden based snooze!

My cat who has cancer - is doing super well! I’ve been treating him
With homeopathy and natural remedies and he is eating more, snoozing in the garden and going to cost the neighbours! Super happy as he seemed on the way out for a couple of weeks there!

lightlypoached · 05/04/2020 05:43

@arelia. I love the cherry tree story. Smile
