Yessss for sure. Old Sardine Baskin.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 05/04/2020 07:36

I’m amazed more people aren’t talking about the fact that her new husband was cruising and she was clearly a sex worker when they met.
I missed this??

Olderthangoogle · 05/04/2020 07:39

but yeah, let's focus on Carole hmm Reeks of mysogony and complete cognitive dissonance.

WHAT? They're both dreadful people. It doesn't have to be one or the other you know. This threat is to discuss a particular allegation against one..... why don't you start you own thread about the allegations against Joe and we'll all happily join in to agree.

BlackCatSleeping · 05/04/2020 07:52

But what has Carole actually done? It seems she runs a sanctuary for big cats and campaigns against people exploiting big cats. She has volunteers who work there and really love her. She has spent a lot of money defending herself against Joe's terrible behaviour. You could argue that she is very much a victim here and doesn't deserve the abuse she is still receiving. There is not a shred of evidence that she killed her husband or was in any way involved in his death. Even if she was a sex worker or whatever, that doesn't make her a bad person at all.

DuchenneParent · 05/04/2020 07:57

I was on the fence but the dodgy will stuff made me think she probably did it... So he makes a will with his solicitor, later disappears, and she just produces a new will out of nowhere, signed by her, saying 'in the event of my disappearance, give everything Carole Baskin?' Hmmm...

Maighdeann · 05/04/2020 08:05

I thought it was the POA that said in the event of my disappearance

They said it was a strange thing to write but if he was up to no good in Costa Rica?

footprintsintheslow · 05/04/2020 08:06

I think they added 'disappearance' as they knew this was a possibility with his business dealings in Costa Rica

Mskatonic · 05/04/2020 08:17

One of the comments from I think his mechanic was that Carol Baskin's husband said 'if I pull this off its the greatest thing I've ever done'. I think they had seriously fallen out and he wanted out down in Costa Rica, and he didn't want Carol to get his money, so he tried to frame her for his murder, thinking she wouldn't get any inheritance of she was in prison. But he didn't manage to leave enough evidence.
I think Carol is definite a victim in this, yes she started her big cat career the same as the men are now, exploiting and selling cubs, but she has realised it was a shitty thing to do and has a genuine rescue. However I am a bit cross about how she knew Joe's tigers would suffer as she pursued her case against him and she still kept going, like her revenge was more important than his animals.

Mynameisrow · 05/04/2020 08:33

I think he planned to disappear. I think he attempted to frame carol for his disappearance and plotted a series of events in the lead up to his disappearance to try and implicate her. We were told he used to hide money and assets underground so wouldn’t surprise me if he did that and decided to vanish. I do think he died, possible plane crash like carol suggested, as I think he would have reappeared down the line once he realised his plan had failed.

ellanwood · 05/04/2020 08:58

But what has Carol actually done? She's set up a system whereby people work unpaid for her for five years before she even deigns to recognise them or remember their names. She is very very wealthy. She could pay her staff, which even the psychotic Joe managed to do. This suggests that she lacks the imagination to have compassion for others.

megletthesecond · 05/04/2020 10:05

Maybe it's like Canoe man who planned his disappearance?

BlackCatSleeping · 05/04/2020 11:47

Carol runs a charity with 100s of volunteers, so it's not that strange that she doesn't know them all. What strikes me is that most of her volunteers speak of Carole well and speak of their experiences very positively. In comparison to Joe, whose volunteers generally are raising a lot of complaints and issues about the working conditions and about Joe himself.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 05/04/2020 13:27

Some of Carole’s ‘volunteers’ have been working for her on training programmes for 5 years+. Who were these programmes written? Are they endorsed by anyone? Accredited by any official bodies? Recognised outside of Carole’s own bubble? Or are they wasted of time and like the levels in Scientology, just another part of the cult of control and power? Joe’s treatment of his staff was shitty but Carol is no better.

Wonkydonkey44 · 05/04/2020 13:36

I don’t think she killed him , however she is highly manipulative. All those people who work for her as volunteers I just don’t get it,mind you they are all bloomin strange !

JonHammIsMyJamm · 05/04/2020 14:33

Sorry for the terrible English in my post. I wrote it in a rush sat in a car park Blush.

Frequency · 05/04/2020 14:43

They're all guilty as hell. the only decent one among them is the first husband of Joe. And yeah, she killed her husband.

Although, if it was a movie it would be one of those ones were you know at the end the dead husband is going to come back, so....

ellanwood · 06/04/2020 11:52

the only decent one among them is the first husband of Joe.
I'm up to episode 4 and I think the only decent, half-sane one is Saff.

SlipSlidin · 06/04/2020 12:48

I felt so sorry for Travis’s mum, she was clearly on meth too. Some people just don’t stand a chance and if they’re picked up by hideous predators like Joe or Doc they ain’t gonna last long.

Wannabangbang · 06/04/2020 12:49

Absolutely! Joe maybe nuts but he has a point!

SlipSlidin · 06/04/2020 12:50

I liked Saff a lot too.

ChloeDecker · 06/04/2020 13:07

Carol runs a charity with 100s of volunteers, so it's not that strange that she doesn't know them all.

But that is not what she said. She says that she refuses to get to know them until they have worked (for free) for 5 years because she can’t ‘do faces’. They work 12 hour days for her for free and she can’t even speak to them and ask their name? How is that a nice person?
And it is scandalous that she doesn’t employ trained zoologists and veterinarians with all her millions and large donations for these animals and has been criticised by many public bodies for this. She also used to breed cubs and have visitors touch the animals too until she was banned from doing so (she is in a different State to the others)
She has also been warned by the US govt. that her cages are not secure enough for some of the animals she puts them in and instead of complying, has argued back.
She has a background just as bad as Joe etc. if you read up on her!

strikes me is that most of her volunteers speak of Carole well and speak of their experiences very positively.

It was just as ‘cultish’ in responses on the program from a select few (and they were only one liners) as the others were. There were no interviews with anyone who had left the Big Cat Reserve to be fair for balance either and they were all women too strangely.

In comparison to Joe, whose volunteers generally are raising a lot of complaints and issues about the working conditions and about Joe himself.
Apart from the woman who had her arm bitten off and returned to work 10 days later???!!!

They are all mad and abusive to animals to be honest!

YourVagesty · 06/04/2020 13:13

PEOPLE! Look at this! My colleague just sent it to me...

Do you think carol baskin killed her husband ?
SlipSlidin · 06/04/2020 13:15

Oh my word that’s incredible.

HeIsAVeryBadBoy · 06/04/2020 13:47

Slip I think if this was about literally any other set of people, I'd disregard those images, but I put nothing past the Tiger King lot!

florisandyoris · 06/04/2020 13:51

The funeral of Travis was the worst thing in that show.
I kind of enjoyed the terrible music videos.
