Who is Carol Baskin?

footprintsintheslow · 04/04/2020 00:06

No I don't think she did.

I do hope that Doc and all the other men in it get eaten but their cats though. They made my skin crawl.

Andromeida59 · 04/04/2020 00:55

I don't think she did. The supposed "evidence" comes from his daughters that he apparently wanted to cut out of his will, his ex wife, the seemingly bitter secretary. The handyman who's fingerprints just happened to be in the car or the dodgy attorney.

She seems to be very damaged. She's suffered sexual, emotional and physical abuse. She was married to a man who despite being a millionaire would refuse to let her spend money whilst cheating on her and also, according to her diary, getting her to perform "perverted" acts.

She has motive but I think it was his dodgy dealings that did it.

AlwaysAllegra · 04/04/2020 01:14

No I don't think she did.. Definitely knows more, but isn't a killer

Does she own an ice cream shop?

Chienloup · 04/04/2020 01:18

Yeah. I reckon.

NotNowPlzz · 04/04/2020 01:24

Not sure.

skippy67 · 04/04/2020 08:36

People asking who she is, Google is your friend. I think she did kill him. I also think she's as bad as Joe and Antle. They're all weird as he'll. The way Jeff was drooling over the nanny they've hired was disgusting. While at the same time telling his pregnant wife that she needs to hurry back to the gym, ugh!

ipswichwitch · 04/04/2020 08:41

skippy67 the nanny thing was disgusting. He’s in no position to be telling anyone to get back to the gym, has he seen the size of his gut? Not that I have any sympathy for Joe, but Jeff set him up good and proper. What an arse.

GreyGardens88 · 04/04/2020 08:43

Probably, she doesn't seem to have bothered to find out what happened to him

golddustwomen · 04/04/2020 08:52

I do! Or at the very least she knows much more than she's letting on.
Also agree that Jeff is a complete creep. The way he was acting with the pictures of the nanny - urgh!! Telling his pregnant wife to get back to the gym asap. I don't understand why a women would put up with that shit?! Also agree with pp who mentioned Jeff set joe up, good and proper!
I couldn't stop watching it.

IWantT0BreakFree · 04/04/2020 08:54

The whole lot of them are terrible, terrible people. Carole Baskin is not a good person, that's very clear, but I don't think she killed her husband. I think she knows more than she's letting on though.

The biggest question for me is how did Joe keep getting all these (mostly) good looking, young straight men who seemingly had the world at their feet to jack it all in, move across the country and live at his redneck zoo? I guess with his first husband (can't remember his name, the one who got the receptionist pregnant and left) it was just a case of Joe giving him meth. But the others I don't understand. I know there were drugs involved down the line, but I thought Travis and Dillan were both healthy young men (I.e. not addicts) when they met Joe. Why did they get involved in relationships with a weird, glittery, aging, gun-toting "zoo keeper"?

carolebaskinsexhusband · 04/04/2020 08:58

I went through the meat grinder.

TheBiscuitStrikesBack · 04/04/2020 09:01

That bitch Carol Baskin. Fo sho.

Strugglingtodomybest · 04/04/2020 09:04

I don't think she killed him, but I do think that she's glad he's dead.

peachypetite · 04/04/2020 09:05

Found her very mechanical and it was weird how she kept laughing when talking about her kissing husband

Whoareyoudududu · 04/04/2020 09:08

It’s entirely plausible he was murdered in Costa Rica. I think the most suspicious thing is his van being left near the airport complete with the keys. I don’t know anyone who would leave their van sitting like that, that was the most dodgy thing for me. The police didn’t really adequately investigate either so if she did kill him, she’s got away with it.

isthismylifenow · 04/04/2020 09:10

I just don't know. As the day before he disappeared he told a friend he was leaving her. And she seems pretty cold to me. When she spoke about him, she didn't seem upset or concerned at all.

I think Joe lured the husband's in as they were on drugs, and he supplied them all that they wanted. Travis didn't mean to kill himself, he was probably high and was messing around with the gun. You don't shoot yourself intentionally in front of the campaign manager. Joe at the funeral was cringeworthy. I felt so sorry for Travis's mother. And the fact she was to attend the next wedding a mere 2 months later.

I know, you just couldn't make this stuff up.

ellanwood · 04/04/2020 09:11

I think she might well have had him disappeared. (Only 3 episodes in so far, so don't know the full story.) She is creepier than the loony men because she sets herself up as being their opposite. She doesn't pay her workers anything at all. She claimed proudly she didn't even recognise or know their names until they had worked, unpaid for her for about 5 years. This alone shows she has zero compassion for others. The doctored will is extremely dodgy. The obsession with money is creepy. And the double standards are jaw dropping: showing how to take baby cubs away from their mother really early so they have no choice but to bond with their captor.
Joe at least doesn't pretend he's normal or nice. His evil isn't hidden.
Doc is off the scale creepy.

JaneyGotAGun · 04/04/2020 09:18

Oh for sure

Menstrualcycledisplayteam · 04/04/2020 09:19

No.

MothershipG · 04/04/2020 09:22

I was so shocked by that show, starting with how easy it is to obtain and keep an endangered species and that there seem to be little or no checks on the animals' welfare. That apparently no records need to be produced to show what happens to all these cubs they are churning out??

On the question of Carole Baskin, she participated as she thought the documentary would expose the big cat industry in the US the way Blackfish did for the Orcas. Instead it focused on all the bizarre & hideous people involved.

I agree that the circumstances of his disappearance are suspicious but isn't this a classic case of her not reacting in what is considered an appropriate manner and therefore she must be guilty? Who's seen Unbelievable, an excellent drama/documentary? I do think that there are some parallels.

Bigpooh13 · 04/04/2020 09:25

Omg I was transfixed by this. She killed him or the drug lord did.
They were all weird more of them should have gone to prison.
Not just Joe he was the scapegoat.

SimonJT · 04/04/2020 09:26

I wouldn’t be surprised.

I’m amazed more people aren’t talking about the fact that her new husband was cruising and she was clearly a sex worker when they met.
