What’s for dinner?

Looking forward to some interesting store cupboard creations!

Ours is nachos with pulled pork on top with Mexican spiced (probably completely inauthentic) rice. Pork and rice both from previous meals and out of the freezer, will add a tin of sweetcorn and maybe kidney beans depending on whether it looks enough (large family)

Crisps and dips bought this week as they were pretty much the only aisles that still contained food.

Carb heavy but I don’t care, I’ve had to cancel my wedding 😭

@GreenTeaMug all depends on cut I think - low and slow for anything with a lot of fat, but any lean cuts will dry out.

Just a chicken stir fry tonight, use up some of the wilted veg in my fridge.

drspouse · 11/04/2020 10:56

Pizza from the wood fired pizza van!

MogeatDog · 11/04/2020 11:01

Very excited - tonight will drag out the Ooni again and make some fabulous pizzas (we hope) truth is I got this last year and have yet to get a very perfect pizza - they are becoming more edible though - I will succeed...eventually!

Tonight is roast chicken, potato salad, crusty rolls, salad (minus tomatoes, have none) followed by a strawberry and vanilla whipped cream/ cheesecake thing

BadlyAgedMemes · 11/04/2020 15:02

Risotto with leftover chicken and various veg. We seem to be eating so much leftover chicken these days, I'm not even sure where it's all coming from.

BiddyPop · 11/04/2020 15:18

Steak on bbq and turkey for dd.

Last night was takeaway from local fish shop. So leftovers for lunch.

And I’m currently having tea with lemon and poppyseed cake to use up a couple of lemons gone beyond their best...nom nom.

Tomorrow is lamb chops from freezer with potatoes, fairly basic as weather expected to be not so nice so we’re planning a working day of painting bedrooms and sewing.

Monday will be from freezer as well, possibly feta chicken thighs, as I half a half a pack of feta to use after dd had made her chickpea salad for lunches this week (a summe recipe from Lidl last year, but quite a good storecupboard one - tinned chickpeas, jarred olives, feta is a great long life cheese, pasta, red onion, vinaigrette from olive oil, cider vinegar and honey, and some red pepper is the only fresh/shorter life item).

PrincessHoneysuckle · 11/04/2020 15:24

Cheese and crackers and wine

iklboo · 11/04/2020 15:25

Chicken gyros tonight. One of DS's favourites.

SallyWD · 11/04/2020 15:27

An Italian dish - sausages cooked in a spicy tomato sauce with pasta. Veggie sausages for me, meat for DH.

VeryShortNotice · 11/04/2020 15:37

Chilli, I think.

@YDYtrue We had to postpone our wedding too. It’s scheduled for more than a year from now.

Zisforstripyoss · 11/04/2020 16:18

happypotamus · 11/04/2020 18:16

Vegan burgers (not homemade) on rolls with salad and chips

mbosnz · 11/04/2020 18:33

Boring, but it'll be nice to have the veges. . . steak with a red wine jus, with creamy garlic mash, asparagus, beans, leeks, broccoli, brussies, and baby carrots.

JellyfishandShells · 11/04/2020 18:36

Cold roasted chicken, homemade coleslaw ( DH bought a very large white cabbage so we are going to be eating ‘...and coleslaw ‘ for a while) , beetroot, tomatoes. Nice meal for August.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 11/04/2020 19:45

Venison sausages, home made chunky chips & tender stem broccoli here tonight with a chilled glass of white for me and dh

Dc had fish fingers, chips, beans before they went to bed

Zisforstripyoss · 12/04/2020 00:27

@H1978 I was inspired by the pinch of nom recipe, but I didn't have spring onions or limes, so I just winged it. DC meant no spice in the mixture, so I marinated the white fish in lemon juice, salt, garlic and black pepper for a few hours and then fried it up in the pan. DH and I added ground chilli flakes to ours.

I put wraps on the table so we could build our own and we had it with mixed salad, tomatoes, cucumber, onion and I made a dip from greek yoghurt, garlic, salt & herbs.

Was lovely.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 12/04/2020 19:28

Chicken pie & broccoli, baby corn, baby carrots, asparagus tonight

meow1989 · 12/04/2020 19:37

I treated myself tonight - bacon, fried eggs, tinned tomatoes and 2 slices of bread with butter. Yummers.

BiddyPop · 13/04/2020 11:29

Change of plans for tonight- pasta carbonara (by request of DD). Feta chicken will now be tomorrow.

Wednesday will be Burgers (DD turkey, DH and I may be beef or turkey), wedges (a mix of potato and sweet potato) and HM onion rings.

Thursday likely to be something with mince - tacos, spag Bol, cottage pie, we’ll see what sounds exciting. Or else pizza - I have 2 bases and plenty of topping bits and pieces (1 mushroom goes a long way on pizza night!!).

Spam88 · 13/04/2020 12:03

Lamb biryani tonight with some of yesterday's leftover.

GreenTeaMug · 13/04/2020 12:17

I think a fry up tonight.
