Pavement parking Ban.

How would you be affected if there was a blanket ban on all pavement parking.

I'm not just talking about the inability to get a pram or wheelchair passed but a complete ban on any car on the pavement at all.

Police told me that all they could do was ask them not to, so nothing is done and it continues and for that reason I’d like to see pavement parking made illegal, 3 points and a fine

Obstruction yes. But that does mean that you can not park on the pavement.

The police in this area seem to think so, hence all the fines and the whines in facebook community groups. People take photos of badly parked cars and upload them to the police website and the owners get fined.

Sometimes the PCOS wheel an empty wheelchair around and fine any cars that are in its way. Or over dropped kerbs. It's made life a lot easier for a lot of disabled residents.

Obstruction of the Highway

You could be committing this offence if, without lawful authority or excuse, you willfully obstruct the free passage of the highway. The ‘highway’ includes the road, the pavement, grass verges and private property used as a public thoroughfare.

My husband got fined for obstruction when he had parked on the grass verge,

In another life, we were debating pavement parking. Saw this tweet today and love the picture - it illustrates the issue very well. Look how little space pedestrians have, and then drivers decide to park in that space too:
