Looking for a nice spa hotel in England

I was meant to be going abroad for my birthday but flights have been cancelled.
I’m in London so good train connections to most places.
Can anyone suggest somewhere nice for me to go and spend some time with my husband?

That's useful to know about Sopwell. Crowley Manor is lovely - a few bits in the rooms needed looking at when we stayed (broken tap / cracked floor tiles) but they may well have sorted those by now. It's also kid friendly (in case you're after a child free break!). The outdoor pool is gorgeous.

Cowley is stunning and only a few miles out of Cheltenham so easy to get to and have a browse around the shops of you like. Wish we could married all over again!

PLEASE try Foxhill Manor

It's next to Dormy House and it's so amazing. Has a bar downstairs you get full (included) access to ( unlimited Prosecco too ha!)

Titanic in Huddersfield is lovely, also Luton Hoo

peachypetite · 10/03/2020 11:45

Thanks all. Titanic in Huddersfield has terrible recent reviews, I know there is also a titanic in Liverpool which seems much better (they are not affiliated). I’ll check out fox hill manor!

Be careful with Foxhill! You still use the Dormy spa

peachypetite · 10/03/2020 16:03

Foxhill is fully booked.

Sopwell House in Hertfordshire is lovely.
Loads of character, good food, cosy bars and lounges, a little bit old fashioned, great spa and pool.

cretelover · 10/03/2020 21:34

One no one has mentioned - Thorpe park hotel and spa Leeds. Great hotel and fab breakfast

GinisLife · 10/03/2020 21:59

Hoar Cross is nice but Moddershall Oaks is better. Train to Stoke then taxi. Beautiful food, Elemis treatments. Outdoor spa pool and sauna. The rooms are lovely.

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 10/03/2020 22:37

I think Cowley is probably in need of an update. It is a lovely place but it looks like it hasn’t been updated since I left the UK 9 years ago.

peachypetite · 11/03/2020 08:18

I’m starting to agree about Cowley, thank god for online reviews and pics.
I’m in contact with Rockliffe at the mo about packages and have just contacted moddershall oaks, thanks.

I feel like I’m being really picky but none of these places are cheap and I want high standards!

Carden Park in Cheshire... it's top of my list to have a day at with my husband once our baby is old enough for us to feel comfortable leaving for the day. Beautiful place!

Yorkshiremum17 · 11/03/2020 08:32

Stapleford Park is fabulous

ineedaholidaynow · 11/03/2020 08:37

Bovey Castle in Devon. Will need transport from train station as out in the sticks, but does have beautiful countryside views.

Shookethtothecore · 11/03/2020 08:37

Ellenborough hall is lovely. Nice spa but sensational food, accommodation and Cheltenham is lovely

Shookethtothecore · 11/03/2020 08:38

I am a huge spa fan and have been to many- for some reason this one is just my favourite, especially if you can get a sunny day for the grounds

peachypetite · 11/03/2020 08:38

Carden Park is in secret escapes at the mo, never sure if that’s a bad sign?

Ragdale Hall
Centre parcs - aqua sana

Kenworthington · 11/03/2020 08:49

I’m going to Boringdon Hall in Devon tomorrow for a two night spa break with my friend. I’ll let you know what it’s like!

HelloViroids · 11/03/2020 08:51

Rockliffe was lovely but Calcot Manor is my all time favourite. Penny hill Park totally overrated and I didn’t like Alexander House either. Have also heard only good things about Cowley Manor

Dozer · 11/03/2020 09:00

Once went to pennyhill park on a big discount. The spa was v nice, big, but rooms were chintzy/faded and it felt old fashioned in a bad way.

Dozer · 11/03/2020 09:00

Was many years ago now mind you!
