I'm having a run of bad luck and in an effort to try and stay positive I'm focusing on happy little things. So minor they could just be taken for granted but sometimes those things see you through.

My oven isn't broken after all.
I've made a lovely cake in my non broken oven and the smell has filled the house.
I'm spending time sewing this afternoon.... a Harry Potter quilt for the dog.

Anyone else?

I fixed my overlocker, took apart a dress I'd made, made some adjustments, stitched it back together and now I like it. Just need to shorten it and then I'll wear it.

Sorted out my fabric stash. Decided what I'm making next.

Took Ocado up on their offer of free delivery and 40% off first order. Yay duck eggs for lunch tomorrow.

I finished a report that was hanging over me, and it is now metaphorically tied up with ribbon and ready to go.

We have far more daffs in the garden than I remember and they look so very cheerful, even through yesterday's brief snowfall. 🌷

DS3 (9), who I feared would never read for pleasure, is 20 pages from the end of Harry Potter IV and is so excited about it. If he finishes it today, that means we can watch the film together over the weekend (well, he can watch the film and I can fall asleep and tip my cup of tea down my trousers. I know how this works!).

I have the day off work so I'm sitting watching tv with lots of candles lit and keeping warm and cozy,

I needed a new chair. Instead of my usual grey/ black I got this one.

I call it my sunshine chair and it makes me smile every time I walk in the room!

Lovely chair @SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock. I have something similar in teal and it still makes me happy a year later.

MaidenMotherCrone · 01/03/2020 23:12

My Mr took me to see Emma. Loved it.

Fell in love with the closing credits song by Johnny Flynn. Just lovely 😊

Went for a lovely long walk with friend and ended up in dog friendly pup. DDog snuggled beside me and was calm, we shared chips and I had a "special" coffee yum

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 03/03/2020 07:53

Lovely chair, Spock. I need to think of bright / Springy things to brighten up the house.

I have a posy of artificial flowers on the little windowsill in our bedroom and it makes me smile every time I open the curtains.

Disfordarkchocolate · 03/03/2020 08:12

Yesterday was short on the nice as I started the day at the dentist and need a massive filling.

However, I actually just need to think differently because we gave the living room a good clean on Sunday and it was very nice sitting in it yesterday afternoon.

MimiLaRue · 03/03/2020 08:17

This is a lovely thread! Such a refreshing change from the usual negative whining, unkindness and bashing of unimportant things!

Mine:

  • Sun is shining today for first time in ages and I feel much more positive now spring is on the way

*I'm waiting for some great stuff in the post

*My morning coffee tastes smooth and reviving

*I feel pretty today

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 03/03/2020 08:19

Sorry about the dentist, Disfordarkchocolate, but hoorah for a lovely clean sitting room. Making a lovely space just to be in can sometimes make all the difference, I find.

Disfordarkchocolate · 03/03/2020 08:21

She was a nice dentist and was impressed with how clean I kept my teeth Grin IWillWearTheGreenWillow

@MuseumOfYou WOW! What a beautiful start to your day. Just seeing your pic has made me feel good!

I was at our cancer centre yesterday (I'm not ill I was supporting someone else) when a lady came and rang the big brass bell to signify the end of her treatment. It was a lovely (and rather emotional) moment.

Such a simple action which signified so much.

Millie2013 · 03/03/2020 09:21

Maiden, I work in 2 different oncology depts, have heard the bell ringing so many times, it never fails to bring a tear to my eye Flowers

I woke up this morning to DD lying next to me, she must have snuck in during the night and I was that zonked that I didn’t wake. Precious times, given the speed that she’s growing up ❤️

SuperFurryDoggy · 03/03/2020 09:33

Lovely thread Smile

My DS got into the school he wanted

I finally went to the GP two weeks ago about my sinusitis, headaches and general unwellness and found out it is actually a migraine-related disorder and can be treated. I had forgotten what it felt like not to be in pain.

My DF is on the mend.

Bad stuff has happened, but everyone is healthy, we have a roof over our heads and I have the ability to recover quickly and get things back on track. I feel optimistic.

MaidenMotherCrone · 03/03/2020 13:40

@Millie2013 I wanted to give the lady a hug but I was a stranger so thought better of it.
Has anybody told you today that you are doing an amazing job and are a very special person. You are Thanks

Just been for an invigorating swim, I swim in a Lido.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 03/03/2020 16:47

Watching my DGS sleeping on his sleeping dad's lap. Their snores were in unison, occasionally making a chord.

MimiLaRue · 03/03/2020 18:18

@MuseumOfYou

Thats absolutely stunning!

Rainb0w · 03/03/2020 18:56

Had a frozen meal for tea I was expecting it to be rank but I couldn't be bothered to go back out for something else for tea.. It was surprisingly nice.

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 03/03/2020 19:39

I'm struggling to think of anything good today as I'm feeling a bit rubbish, mentally and physically. In the spirit of this thread I have forced myself to list a few things :-

DS (8) has recently been prescribed Melatonin so bedtime battles are significantly shorter!
DD (6) was very snuggly today and told me she loved me multiple times
DH cooked tea whilst I was at the doctors

Actually, I feel a bit better now :-)

MaidenMotherCrone · 03/03/2020 21:47

@SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock sometimes you do have to try hard to think of something but as you have said it does make you feel better. I hope tomorrow brings more positive little happy things.

I had an hour long chat with DS3 (away at Uni). It was lovely.
