I'm having a run of bad luck and in an effort to try and stay positive I'm focusing on happy little things. So minor they could just be taken for granted but sometimes those things see you through.

My oven isn't broken after all.
I've made a lovely cake in my non broken oven and the smell has filled the house.
I'm spending time sewing this afternoon.... a Harry Potter quilt for the dog.

Anyone else?

My grandmother got (expensive) new hearing aids and is so very happy. She grew up very poor, saved a lot, never spends money on herself. These will make her last years so much better. Star

Defender90 · 21/02/2020 17:01

I took my 92 year old Gran into town and we did some shopping and went for lunch, she had a small drink and we laughed and laughed. It was lovely. Until she stole a chip off my plate haha!

Lovely thread idea OP.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 21/02/2020 17:02

I’ve been to a new hairdresser and I like the result.
It isn’t dark until after 6pm and that will get later each day. Hooray!

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 21/02/2020 17:06

I've walked a couple of miles along a sunny beach (in uk) with my dog this morning. It was gloriously deserted!

TheDogsMother · 21/02/2020 17:07

Somanysocks. So sorry you don't have a dog now. There is something very relaxing about a doggy snore. It's less good when it's a doggy fart that comes up from under the desk !

Purplecatshopaholic · 21/02/2020 17:09

It’s after 5 and it’s still relatively light;
My new boiler means my house is toasty even if weather is brutal;
My new shoes are a bright and cheerful colour

TheQueef · 21/02/2020 17:13

That sounds heaven Spock it reminded me that I also stroked an unexpected dog in the chemist while getting ddad his pills. Instant karma!

movinggoalposts Grin Im glad you're on the mend.

I've just been for a glorious hour lung run and I'm now enjoying a lovely pot of proper coffee.

A lovely thread OP Grin I hope your run of good luck is about to begin x

Poor MH. I sought help from our work employee assistance phone line today and it has really helped. Most usual outcome so this is good and I feel a bit better.
Awesome counsellor. Smile

dementedma · 21/02/2020 18:05

I got the house to myself for a whole two hours today!
I have daffodils in jam jars bringing little spots of sunshine in the sitting room and kitchen.
Bedding is washed and dry and bed will smell lovely tonight.
I made Rosemary Foccacia bread and a banana loaf and they both worked out well.

The man I am seeing told me last night rhat he thinks I am his soul mate

Had a hour on the beach, DC ran around, climbed on rocked, searched for & found sea glass & skimmed stones - DH is the master of this with DS1 a close second Grin

Took a flask of hot chocolate which was lovely when we got back in the car.

Made macaroni cheese earlier so just needed to heat it up - perfect!

NeverGotMyPuppy · 21/02/2020 18:29

My son has learnt to ask for his favourite song so now all day he has just been saying 'more row row'. Its the cutest thing.

Patchworkpatty · 21/02/2020 18:31

There are primroses and snowdrops in my garden.. our first two lambs are here.. my lovely gorgeous troubled DH seems to have taken a turn for the better (BPD) and I am going to spend the day and night with him tomorrow.

So excited for the possibilities for our future (whilst keeping a realistic eye on the chance things may not last )

I don't live with him because it's not fair on my DC who are 18 and 24

Live for the 'now' I say ..

Fannia · 21/02/2020 18:35

I had a nice sandwich earlier Brie, bacon and Cranberry.

JellyfishandShells · 21/02/2020 18:38

I bought some daffodils in the supermarket and came home to find DH had done the same, so now the house looks like a celebration of early Spring.

MuddyPuddlesAndPrettyBubbles · 21/02/2020 18:43

The DC and I got to spend hours outdoors in the fresh air this afternoon, which felt amazing after being cooped up for the last couple of weekends. Then I messed with their heads by buying them each a new bouncy ball from the display in the supermarket without them having to ask Grin (they don't know I binned several that had lost their bounce when I was clearing out the garden, pre storms)

MaidenMotherCrone · 21/02/2020 18:59

These are all lovely.

Had a productive day despite not sleeping well due to a sore neck.
I have taken dog on a long walk, bathed her as said walk was muddy, made cottage pie for dinner, cleaned all of downstairs EVEN the loo (did upstairs yesterday, so feel extra good now), washed floors, baked bread and sausage rolls and even some cheese straws with the left over pastry, ds and his gf are home from uni for the weekend, and am now having a glass of wine whilst waiting for dinner to cook and them to turn up. Cheers Wine

Mintjulia · 21/02/2020 19:05

I have a new front door. The old one was letting in water, it was rotten and cold.

Now the new one makes me smile every time I come home. My hall and stairs are warm Smile

PrivateSpidey · 21/02/2020 19:14

I love threads like this.

I cleaned the oven and bought an oven liner today so hopefully it should stay clean - feeling quite proud of myself. Now I just need to bake something in it!

I also want some daffs now after reading this thread...

Sally2791 · 21/02/2020 19:17

Had a long talk with someone on a different political spectrum to myself and the friendship is strong

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 21/02/2020 19:21

DH has taken DS to football training and I’m snuggled up with Rosie, my beautiful cat. DH will pick dinner up on his way home, and hopefully a bottle of wine too!

I have all my candles lit and my fairy lights are twinkling, it looks lovely.

TulipCat · 21/02/2020 19:23

My cat's tail is better today. It was bitten by a fox last week but he's all happy again today.

Flymetothetoon · 21/02/2020 19:24

The Maine Coon 'kitten' has decided my lap is an acceptable place to plant his furry arse today.

He is 10 years old .
