I'm having a run of bad luck and in an effort to try and stay positive I'm focusing on happy little things. So minor they could just be taken for granted but sometimes those things see you through.

My oven isn't broken after all.
I've made a lovely cake in my non broken oven and the smell has filled the house.
I'm spending time sewing this afternoon.... a Harry Potter quilt for the dog.

Anyone else?

I need to get back into this habit. On my mn antenatal group we do WWRT, what went right today. I have a diary that I do it in even when I don't post it online but have fallen out of the habit.
My little positive things today have been:
An easy drive to our temporary accommodation despite the rain.
A lidl pizza for dinner (one of their 'posh' ones, yum.)
DH being 'home' before half 5 even having gone to get my shopping from lidl after I got to pay and realised I didn't have my card Blush (630 would be a good home time usually but we're staying closer to his work whilst we sell and buy here)
Listening to DH read our DDs stories.
I have work tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it!

QueenOfCatan · 24/02/2020 20:32

Loving the potter quilt! I have a load of that fabric and no clue what to do with it!

dementedma · 24/02/2020 20:39

We just got a Shark hoover. Bloody brilliant.
Erm, something nice from today....got a backdated bonus in my.pay packet!

mylittleavalon · 24/02/2020 20:40

I sat in the living room with my feet soaking in a bowl of water with lovely bubble bath in last night because I just couldn't warm them up- but I started thinking I should do this every night as it was so lovely!!

HerRoyalNotness · 24/02/2020 20:44

I live in the US and our British shop had some hot cross buns in today but sold out rather quickly. I met a friend for coffee and taaaa daaa she pulled out a packet of HCB for me she’d picked up that morning

HotChocolatemarshmallows · 24/02/2020 20:47

I'm currently looking at my little miracle 1 year old fast asleep next to me. This makes me extremely happy ☺️

Sarcelle · 24/02/2020 20:50

I painted my toes today.

I normally have a salad for dinner on Mondays, but today I had a warming casserole.

My bad shoulder didn't hurt as much today.

AdoraBell · 24/02/2020 20:58

I’m skint until Friday, but, I made a super much stew with veg and lentils. I don’t have the requisite celery or fresh herbs but I do have smoked paprika 😁

There’s enough for tomorrow too, and bacon in the freezer.

AngryPrincess · 24/02/2020 21:17

I saw a treecreeper today.

Doihavetogotoworkdotcom1 · 24/02/2020 21:20

I work in a nursery school and one little boy’s face lit up when he saw me, made me very 😀happy.

lostinleaves · 24/02/2020 21:22

I started a new job today, it was lovely to enjoy being at work again as I hated my last job.

Wingingitsince2018 · 24/02/2020 21:46

DS took his first 3 wobbly steps into my arms when I got home from a really long week at work where I have missed him terribly. My heart melted.

mathanxiety · 25/02/2020 05:40

Leaking hot water heater fixed in my building! I can take a shower in my own home tomorrow morning, and run the dishwasher tonight. I have never appreciated hot running water like I do today.

Deathraystare · 25/02/2020 14:37

Well although it is my Aunt's funeral tomorrow (she didn't suffer and was not in pain and it was quick-took us by surprise), I shall see my 'little' bruv and his family and my lovely cousin again. The older one gets the more funerals one attends!

Spudlet · 25/02/2020 15:28

The apron had its first outing today - we’ve made a fruitcake! Beat recipe ever too, if anyone wants it - it’s really tasty: everydaycooks.co.uk/everyday-fruit-cake/

MaidenMotherCrone · 25/02/2020 16:36

Oh that's lovely and I'm glad your cake turned out well @Spudlet

@AngryPrincess a tree creeper wow! You did well to spot it. Lovely little birds.

@QueenOfCatan it's been in my stash for ages and I needed to make something and thought yep that will make a dog quilt. Quilting isn't my thing but I enjoyed making
it.

@Dowser thank you! Praise indeed. Should I ever feel a flounce approaching I'll give you a shout.Grin. I'd like to try a bit of dowsing, There's a spot on a walk DH and I do where whenever we reach it there's always a couple kissing. Different couple every time. I'm convinced it's on a lay line.

I've just found out that my daughter's orchestra isn't on tonight which means I don't have to drive around taking and collecting her in the rush hour, it's Shrove Tuesday so the pancakes will make my children very happy and there's a brand new series of "Back in Time for..." starting tonight.

MaidenMotherCrone · 25/02/2020 16:46

I've just made a top for the summer and now I'm starting on a tshirt.

My other dog (not Stan) is no longer in pain and is playing like a puppy even though she is 14.

Helga (the cat) has eaten today. She's rather neurotic and stops eating for no reason at all.

I am wearing new knickers and they are very comfortable Grin

This is so true. After a flurry of them about a decade ago, we cousins vowed to get together for happy occasions and we now get together about once a year. Helpfully one of us owns an amazing restaurant and a great pub. The most we've had is 46 and it's brilliant. Smile

fairlyplump · 25/02/2020 20:23

I took my mother to an afternoon tea in lovely hotel, and she loved it. Just the smile on her face, she is 80 xx

Lonelycrab · 25/02/2020 20:30

OP great idea for a thread. I’m with you completely.

My central heating packed up a couple weeks back- no signs of life. Fearing the worst got some random engineer off google and prepared myself for the worst. He was amazing- isolated the system and went to work with the spanner’s. Cost £60 when I was expecting sharp intake of breath new boiler🙂

I’m noticing how friendly and tame Robins are too, off you make nice sounds at them and act calmly they almost seem relaxed towards you.

purrswhileheeats · 25/02/2020 20:53

It's just turned spring where I live, the sun has been shining all day and there's almond blossom everywhere Smile Everyone has been smiley and happy after a cold, wet, miserable Mediterranean winter 😊

ChristmasCalamity · 26/02/2020 06:41

We live in China so have been spending a lot of time in the house recently, and consequently feeling a little low in spirits from time to time. This thread is really lovely and gently cheering, although somehow it has made me feel very homesick as well. I like how new knickers seem to pop up fairly regularly Grin

Today, a board game I ordered for DS's 7th birthday arrived and I'm looking forward to playing it with him when it's his birthday.

House had been a tip for a few days but this morning we tidied, hoovered and dusted and it feels so much better.

Elephantonascooter · 26/02/2020 07:03

DS has walked to our car (which we've had to park further away due to flooding) for the past couple of days. Now I've said that, he won't do it today!

Jobseeker19 · 26/02/2020 07:04

Poundland are selling 1kg bags of Tilda Long grain. That bargain made me happy.
