He must have been in fear of his life to dial 999.

But you just don't know that for definite.

she broke the law, was likely getting put in prison for it so her lucrative career was cut short

Evidence of that?

xsquared · 15/02/2020 19:06

How desparately sad. I was never keen on her as a celebrity but she absolutely didn't deserve this.

SpokeTooSoon · 15/02/2020 19:07

And we wonder why Megan has run away from here. I didn’t really follow Caroline Flack but it seems she’s a victim of social media hounding

How does leaving the country affect what you read on social media?

LoveNote · 15/02/2020 19:07

@edgewater i said 'likely'....its hard to get cps to take on cases, very. they need so much evidence. but police progressed this when her boyfriend had withdrawn his support for prosecution. now, why would they do that ??

lilgreen · 15/02/2020 19:07

Yes I understand but normally the woman who stand by ‘her man’ is physically and financially weaker.

lilgreen · 15/02/2020 19:08

Or has children with him.

userxx · 15/02/2020 19:08

@lilgreen 😞. Please stop.

gypsywater · 15/02/2020 19:08

Posters here acting like the trial and verdict already took place?! Hmm

lilgreen · 15/02/2020 19:09

What? I’m genuinely asking, don’t mean to cause anyone upset.

todayisnottuesday · 15/02/2020 19:09

they never change the situation, never leave.

Of course they do, you're entire post is just nonsense.

I'll repeat once again - she had not gone to court, or found found guilty of anything. What part of that do you struggle with? It's depressing to see just how many people are thick enough to believe everything the media say.

LoveNote · 15/02/2020 19:09

@todayisnottuesday evidence of what? a prosecution is pending.....cps are in receipt of all evidence. police would not present to cps unless sure of a prosecution.....cps wouldn't accept it

NerrSnerr · 15/02/2020 19:09

We could speculate until the cows come home about what happened that night but what's the point? No one will ever know the truth, especially now that she has passed away.

Endless speculation about what might or might not have happened is not going to help her ex or her family and they're the important people in this. Let them tell their stories if they choose to in the future but it's not fair for others to decide what happened through what they read in the media.

SpokeTooSoon · 15/02/2020 19:10

I didn’t watch the shows she was on. She didn’t seem like my sort of woman, but that’s ok. No doubt the CPS had witnesses testifying to previous violent relationships. Her career was over and she was likely going to end up with a criminal record and possibly a jail sentence. That’s a lot to accept for anyone, the public nature of her downfall even more painful for someone who must have been, sorry but it’s true, rather self-regarding.

It’s a tragic end and I doubt her family will ever recover.

JacquesHammer · 15/02/2020 19:11

It is perfectly possible to feel sympathy that a young woman is dead whilst still taking the abuse allegations seriously and thinking that the way the tabloids hound and harrass people is abhorrent.

Mummyzzz044 · 15/02/2020 19:12

Just heard this. I have a knot in my stomach. It's so sad. Her career was over and she worked hard for it. Whether the claims about her boyfriend are true or not, I dont know. No one deserves this. Must have been so hard to go through

todayisnottuesday · 15/02/2020 19:13

Posters here acting like the trial and verdict already took place?!

Yep. And twisting things to make it look like those who point out she hadn't been to trial yet, and innocent by law, are only defending her as she was female. Fucking depressing.

GabsAlot · 15/02/2020 19:14

@lilgreen what about johnny depp then stayed with a woman who was abusing him

men are allowed to be victims you know

so people who get found not gulty is it definite that it didnt happen or is because of evidence

rape for example

todayisnottuesday · 15/02/2020 19:16

a prosecution is pending.....cps are in receipt of all evidence. police would not present to cps unless sure of a prosecution.....cps wouldn't accept it

More bollocks. By your logic (if you can call it that) every court case would result in a guilty verdict.

Choosername · 15/02/2020 19:16

How does leaving the country affect what you read on social media?

It doesn’t, but the heat is taken off when your every move isn’t scrutinised by the tabloid vultures and piers Morgan.

Alsohuman · 15/02/2020 19:17

@GabsAlot, this is neither the time nor the place. Just stop.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 15/02/2020 19:17

Poor poor woman. This is awful.
I think it's really unhelpful to speculate and lay blame before she's even cold. "Hounded by the press" - yes some awful things were said about her but no one but poor Caroline knows what was going on in her life.

lilgreen · 15/02/2020 19:18

Of course. But this whole thread is discussing the case. I have already expressed my my sympathies. I hadn’t followed the case in detail so just asking others who may have. It’s a forum.

thetoddleratemyhomework · 15/02/2020 19:18

@lilgreen

Alllegedly CF hit him with a lamp whilst he slept. If true, that is incredibly frightening to wake up to and probably why he called 999. Also, if true, a good reason why the CPS decided to prosecute her despite what he said he wanted as the victim, because she could have killed him. And ultimately in DV cases you can't retract the case just because a victim (who may be emotionally under the control of the aggressor) retracts it - not for women victims and not for men victims either.

But none of this excuses the people who trolled her or the papers who reported what had happened in such a sensationalised way. Until found guilty, they should have been more measured rather than put her through trial but media and they have contributed to the death of someone who was clearly fragile. Living her downfall in the public eye with people taking a lot of pleasure in it must have been very painful.

RIP Caroline.
