Our media has a lot to answer for.

Agreed, as do some of the twats who blindly believe everything they read in them.

lilgreen · 15/02/2020 18:57

He called the police, then said she was innocent Confused

gypsywater · 15/02/2020 18:57

The blood was from her - she cut herself with glass during the same incident

I thought you had to press charges for it to go to court?

Lovenote, what evidence do you have that she broke the law and was going to prison please?

TheWaveReturnsToTheOcean · 15/02/2020 18:58

Poem by Simon Armitage

And if it snowed and snow covered the drive
he took a spade and tossed it to one side.
And always tucked his daughter up at night
And slippered her the one time that she lied.
And every week he tipped up half his wage.
And what he didn't spend each week he saved.
And praised his wife for every meal she made.
And once, for laughing, punched her in the face.

And for his mum he hired a private nurse.
And every Sunday taxied her to church.
And he blubbed when she went from bad to worse.
And twice he lifted ten quid from her purse.

Here's how they rated him when they looked back:
sometimes he did this, sometimes he did that.

FoxRedBitch · 15/02/2020 18:59

A mirror story about her which utterly disgusts me , her body is still warm and they are putting out a story about how she failed to find love and died on Valentine's Day.

I'm going to complain!!

lilgreen · 15/02/2020 18:59

Why was he standing by her then?

SansaSnark · 15/02/2020 18:59

There are lots of cases of people (both famous and not) who have been vilified in "trial by media", and then in court it turns out things were actually very different.

Also, I think personally it is alright for women to have more sympathy for other women, compared to men. Society never will, so why shouldn't we? That said, I wouldn't be gloating if this was about a man, either.

If she had been able to get help, she might have been able to turn her life around. Personally, I think this is very sad.

NerrSnerr · 15/02/2020 19:00

The whole situation is so very sad and it must be devastating for her ex. My sister ended her own life after battling addiction and made some awful life choices along the way. Just because she fucked up at times doesn't make less of a tragic waste of a young life.

userxx · 15/02/2020 19:01

@lilgreen Because he loved her.

SansaSnark · 15/02/2020 19:01

Despite my previous post, though it's worth remembering that an abuse victim standing by their abuser or dropping charges does not mean that it didn't happen. This is actually really common behaviour for all sorts of reasons.

lilgreen · 15/02/2020 19:02

So why call the police? Confused She’s tiny. He must have been in fear of his life to dial 999.

Why was he standing by her then

Lots of victims of DV stand by their abusers. Sadly it's not at all unusual

GabsAlot · 15/02/2020 19:04

lilgreen why do many victims stand by them-coerced scared?

annielouise · 15/02/2020 19:04

Very sad.

GetawayfromthatWelshtart · 15/02/2020 19:05

@BobbyBlueCat and @TheWaveReturnsToTheOcean

Thank you for putting in words what I was thinking.

I just hope he doesn't blame himself for her last actions.

Cherrysoup · 15/02/2020 19:05

There's currently a shitstorm against Ant McPartlin on Twitter for not getting the same treatment as Caroline.

But there is no comparison between the two (alleged in her case) crimes.

JacquesHammer · 15/02/2020 19:05

Ironic that the repeated speculation as to whether she was guilty or not-guilty (a matter ONLY for the court to decide) which most likely contributed to her state of mind, is ongoing even after the poor woman takes her own life.

lilgreen · 15/02/2020 19:05

I guess it seems more unusual because he is a big bloke and she is a tiny woman. Showing my ignorance here I know but calling police seems extreme unless she really was out of control. I also thought the case would be dropped if he dropped his complaint.
