Please sign the petition of you agree the media is going too far

This is just awful, where are the petitions for more mental health support? For domestic violence support? For both the alleged victims and perpetrators?

Why are some people trying to turn this tragedy into a media attack frenzy, why not use it for good? To make sure the support is there for those who suffer from mental illness, and their family and friends?

NoSharon · 16/02/2020 14:09

Bluntness - because this is a thread about the suicide of Caroline Flack.

FrippEnos · 16/02/2020 14:12

NoSharon

because this is a thread about the suicide of Caroline Flack.

For reasons of which no-one really knows.

All this does is set her up as a saint and paints over the real person.

NoSharon · 16/02/2020 14:13

Nobody is a saint on earth. Least of whom are those who are the first to cast a stone.

I dont view it much differently to a man who kills his partner and/or kids and then tops himself.

Don't you? I don't understand your reasoning. She didn't kill anyone. Had she killed someone and done it then yes there's an argument that she somehow "escaped" facing the consequences but she didn't.

ShatnersWig · 16/02/2020 14:15

NoSharon So if someone does something awful but commits suicide we should just ignore the awful stuff?

NoSharon · 16/02/2020 14:17

I hadn't realised MN was frequented by such saintly figures. It really is a sight to behold.

Don't look down on anyone. Only God sits that high up.

sendhelpppppp · 16/02/2020 14:18

nosharon nobody is claiming to be saintly but i can say ive never laid a finger on anyone. Ever.

TruffleShuffles · 16/02/2020 14:19

The lack of empathy is shocking. The way some people are going on you would think death was the appropriate punishment for Caroline flacks alleged crime.

As I’ve previously said, feeling sad that someone took their own life is in no way excusing what she did or minimising her actions.

To dismiss the impact of the media/social media on Caroline’s mental health is naive at best. What everyday person who committed a similar crime would have to put up with the scrutiny she did? Would they have to see it reported in the national media daily? Trolled mercilessly online by thousands and be used as the punchline of joke by fellow celebs to be broadcast around the world?

NoSharon · 16/02/2020 14:20

Did you feel the same sympathies for say Jeffrey Epstein? He died, allegedly by suicide, whilst awaiting trial.

Never heard of him until he was dead.

I don't stand in judgment of anyone. Who the fuck am I to judge anyone? And who the fuck are you to judge anyone?

TruffleShuffles · 16/02/2020 14:21

Wow people are now comparing her to Jeffrey Epstein and murderers.

NoSharon · 16/02/2020 14:22

If you can all go to bed tonight and examine your conscience and find nothing wanting there, then good for you - you're lying to yourself.

I sin everyday. I'm not proud of it

ShatnersWig · 16/02/2020 14:24

Truffle they aren't actually, they're pointing out the nonsense if you take a certain comment to the logical conclusion.

As for social media, yes it can be absolutely hideous. So come off it if it effects you, rather than look at what the idiots are saying.

NoSharon · 16/02/2020 14:27

Ok. Never told a soul this.

My now ex had assaulted me several times. Severely.

On one night, he was coming up the stairs, roaring at me. I was at the top of the stairs and hit him over the head with a bottle of budweiser.

On another occasion, same dude, was banging and battering and creating a nuisance outside. I opened the door with a hurl in my hand, ready to swing at him. He grabbed it off me and broke it over his knee.

We didn't get to hear Caroline's side. Have some respect.

GabsAlot · 16/02/2020 14:28

agree bluntness and no i wont be signing something to be called carolines law it doesnt seem right

TruffleShuffles · 16/02/2020 14:28

No @ShatnersWig they are goading. Using a serial rapist and peadophile to make a comparison is ridiculous.

BunnytheBee · 16/02/2020 14:29

We don’t know what happened but just reading some of the things said about Caroline Flack on here, after she’s been found dead, I can only imagine how some of the comments and stories written while she was alive might affect someone. Think about what you say. She is dead now but people were saying things like this when she were alive and not many people know the full story. I hope this shines a light on, not only mental health, but also the power of the media and how it can affect people. Again, I say that not knowing what was on one person’s mind and how much of a role the media played, but we have to be mindful that our words affect people.

We all apparently know what happened. We don't know shite. Why do women hate successful women?

sendhelpppppp · 16/02/2020 14:32

Why do women hate successful women?

We dont. I always liked caroline, actually.

However, i dont think violence is ever appropriate.

NoSharon · 16/02/2020 14:32

Just wondering why CF is so different

Because she's dead.
